sw
why do you guys think of this???? i was thinking of matching my instrament cluster to my blue back light air locker switches. check it out, they're blue led's. theres a guy here in oz that makes em by hand, they plug straight in to the existing spots. COOL AY?
88pathoffroad
Yeah. You can get those locally at most auto parts stores, as far as I've seen. I have a sneaking suspicion that differently colored LED's behind my instrument cluster won't do much, cause all the lines and numerals are already in orange. sw
the only problem with conventional led's is that their viewing angles are like only 28 degress, meaning they are practically spot lights. these have like over 150 degrees, luminating the whole cluster quite well. Mookie
I did that with those cheapo blue bulbs. They only lasted a few months before they faded out and I'm back to white. :o LED's are the way to go. Look good.
AlMac
ok. very cool. led's? What kind of LEDs do i get, and how do i wire them in? the stock 'wedge' bulbs are terrible, and not easy to find.. seems they're not a stock item on store shelves these days thanks for the info. al

BTW, another way to go is to use "gel"s for stage style lighting to tint the color.

Now those and the bulbs inside the switches ARE hard to find. I know you can get the switch bulbs at Radio Shack, not sure on the idiot ones. (I usually pocket a bunch anytime I am in a J-yard .)
