I cannot tackle this job myself do to lack of tools and time. I need to find a shop because I always do maintence work on my own. How much should I expect to pay for a shop to swap out both lower ball joints on a WD21 (93 Pathfinder 4x4).

I just want an general estimation, so I could have an idea as to not get shafted.

I rep, aced a seperated ball joint on a 89 Gran Prix a few years ago and it took me about 6 hours to do it and the CV boot that borke with it so I could see it costing $400 to have a mechanic do it because of the labor involved. Not sure what it is rated at in the book in hours though for a Pathfinder.

Nonetheless if you need to replace it get it done ASAP, believe me nothing is more scarier than having a ball joint seperate on you when you are driving!!

i helped a guy do all 4 ball joints, rotors, calipers, steel brake lines and it took us like 8 hrs including running around trying to find wheel bearings...i just did them on my 95 and it took me about 2.5 hrs including a snafoo on a caliper slide pin and having to cut off 1 of the hub bolts b/c it stripped out

Oh man, I'm planning on replacing uppers, lower, cv boots (all 4 of em), brakes, tre's, tk1 mod, and alignment. Man this is gonna suck on the cost.

already have the upper bj's

lifetime warranty on front disc brake

already have brake shoes for rear

lower bj's $80.00

cv boots $60.00

tre's $100.00

and I'm still trying to calculate tk1.

those seem a little high. try autozone. cv boots are like $12 ea.; bj's are 20-25 ea; i don't recall the tre's but if that's the price for all 4 then that's not too bad.

Here are some labor times and prices from Alldata. I imagine that whatever shop you go to should be in this pricing area(well, the time x thier labor rate)........
