RWC5S2
I had my new rear bumper installed on my 2003 R-50 and just had to tell some one. Hopefully, some of you will approve of it. Edited March 30, 2007 by RWC5S2

RWC5S2
A friend of mine told me about a guy that does fabrication work so I checked him out. He had some items he was working on and looked like he knew what he was doing. The bumper is made out of 2"x6"x1/4" with 1/2" steel plate for the mounting brackets. I had him do a full wrap around to the wheel wells so I could also gain some rear side protection from those pesky rocks that jump out in front of you. The swing arm is made with sealed bearings. The arm is 2"x2"x1/4" with 1 2"x1/4" tube support. The original estimate was $700 but with a late modification it added $75.00 more for materials. He offered to make 1" strut spacers for me as well as installing Warn hubs on the front. I will have him do that next week hopefully. With my KMA front bumper, A/C full skids and this rear bumper my rig is starting to get pretty bullet proof. Now I just need to get some lockers. Hope I can find some. Trancebear
It looks clean and right, when mine is built I will have them lower the spare, it is a pet peeve of mine to have a good view out the back window.

But if you go up a steep hill or off of a drop off your tire will hit the ground, that's why you need it higher.
Trancebear
I had my tire carrier on my Tahoe lowered and I never had a problem. I am not as serious about banging up my Pathy as of yet. It is still under warranty for the drivetrain, the only reason it has not been lifted yet.
trogdor
I like it!! the only thing I would change would be the corners, I would put them at an angle it would just flow better with the car, it still is a really kick a$$ bumper! Nice job!!
RWC5S2
I had the spare mounted as low as possible without getting into the departure angle. Used a straight line to measure it out. There is just no way to avoid losing some of the rear view. If it is too high there is way to much stress on the swing out and too low you snag the ground or what ever is lurking out there. I did not like losing so much rear view but had to get the tire off the roof. It was pushing the roof down and causing the seal on the sun roof to leak. Too big to put any where else. Oh well, the perils of going out to get wet and dirty. A small sacrafice I guess.
XPLORx4
That bumper looks nice! I like how the carrier is mounted. Do you have some pics of the carrier latch?
RWC5S2
I can do that. The carrier pin is a spring loaded unit. It can be accessed via the removable end plug. Edited April 2, 2007 by RWC5S2
