I smell antifreeze

Well, just like the title says. Started two days ago. I smell antifreeze when I have my heater on. It's kinda gross when ya get into your Pathy after warming it up and it smells like garbage.

 

What could cause this? My dad says the "Heater Coil" could be a possibility? Head gasket?

 

I don't know... I have absolutely no clue what would be causing this... I've never even heard of smelling coolant through heater vents.

heater core is bye bye.. have fun as you have to do quite a bit of removal to get to it.. dash..

Is the floor wet? Have a garage do a pressure test on the system, it should help identify the leak fairly easily. If it was head gasket, you would be smelling it out the exhaust and your exhaust would be sending huge plumes of white smoke out.

But yes if it was leaking into the firing chamber.. he's right. trust me, I know... as do a whole lot of people who were on Hwy167 many years ago

Could also be the hose connected to the heater core leaking and making it's way inside. You never know!

That's right.. I forgot about that. I remember now a while back (couple years maybe) a few people had this problem and it turned out to be a clamp that had become loose over time.

Gahhh! It seems like it should be a pretty time consuming job.

To make it even worse, I tried to break up a fight between someone and my friend lastnight...

I got beat up by two guys, and I can barely walk. My knee is pretty dern bad, I need to get it checked by the doc asap. I think it's some ligament damage (it feels like there is no support within the knee)...

*Prays it's not an ACL injury*

I WAS A DESIGNATED DRIVER TOO! Totaly sober, the only one at the party of 100+....

 

This sucks... I have a bowhunt for Elk to go on Thanksgiving weekend, too. In southern WA.

 

Anyway... Where is the heater core and the hose that could be loose located? Behind the glovebox?

I'll get on this tomorrow, see how my knee takes it. I'm supposed to be taking my trailing arms off and getting the bushings out soon too... argh
