Holding that button will allow you to start a manual transmission vehicle without holding the clutch in.  Provided you're in Neutral.

Using the Interlock switch you can start them in gear as well.

*Yeah, what MZ said... he beat me to it

no, you can be in gear but you'll move.

yea i was dickin off and was like hmm will this work in gear and it jumped forward and started i was like @!*%...luckly i hit the clutch and brake and didnt hit anything

and i always thought it was on the wrong side of the steering wheel...if u have to hit it with ure right hand u have to start it with the left hand...doesnt make sense...i tried moving mine but the wires were too short and i didnt feel like making them longer

like they said it is for steep hills and you put it in 1st or reverse which ever way you want to go and flip it on, i dont think you have to hold it but i could be wrong, hold the brake start up the car and hit the gas as you let off the brake. It is all in the owners manual if you were wondering.

lol.. that would mean you'd actually have to open it and search and that's a dreaded word around here.. :D:D

and yeah, you just press the button (no need to hold) and then attempt to start.. you will have to press then button again though if you didn't start the previous try.. i did once experience where i had to keep pressing that button but i don't remember why now.. maybe hand and foot brakes were applied? maybe something else too..
