Upgrading the alternator

I recently learned that it is possible to swap a Nissan Quest (110A) alternator into a Pathfinder with minor modification. Has anyone done so if so I would like to have instructions, with pics preferable, on how to do so.

Perfect. Now I have a new problem. I got the alternator from a Villager at the JY. Started to clean it when I got home and took it apart. I cannot get it back together because the brushes are in the way. Is there a trick to keep the brushes pushed back to allow the commutator shaft to slide in?

On the outside of the alty housing, there is a small hole right over where the brushes are. You push the brushes in, then put something like a metal rod (i use a small drill bit usually) to hold the brushes from popping out. You put the rotor back in, take the metal rod out of the hole and the brushes will spring back into place.
