I use the sliders. For secret Santa one year I sent vengeful a hilift accessory to lift his pathy with the TJM.... he never did tell me if it worked.

I wouldn't say it's essential... I ran with my 2" AC lift for over a year before I got the manual hubs with no issues, and I am sure others have gone even longer. I would recommend it, if you can... but it is certainly not essential.

Manual Hubs wont lessen the angle. But, when left unlocked they will lessen the wear on your CV's (as they will not be turning, as per stock).

Slightly related: I've had the drain holes in the bottom of the doors gummed up with rust check, mud & god knows what... and the door would start to fill with water... every once in a while, I can hear it slosh when I open the door. Took a flathead screwdriver to clean the drainage holes, and let the water leak out. I would say if everything is working - go by the 'if it's not broken, don't fix it' adage.
