  1. gone are the days of a cable and gears to pass data from the tranny to the console.
  2. Getting back on topic.... I'd be curious to see it without the rag on top. It looks like there are no cross supports but I hope I'm wrong. Don't want the thing to hold a pool of rain and rot through in the middle or be flapping wildly in the wind as you drive. Also, I was surprised that this is coming from Oregon. I thought the only thing out there was rain and trees and a rag-top is less effective than the OE top in both circumstances. so... any topless pics?
  3. ok... something just popped into my head. After doing my timing belt the last time, I had a rattling that turned out to be the belt tensioner that peeks up from behind your fan shroud in your picture. I had tightened the bolt to apply tension but never tightened the bolt to hold it in place. Just another place that's easy to check.
  4. don't trust the marks on the block or shields. Count the teeth between your cam marks and crank mark.
  5. forgot I was missing a rear shock, got side-tracked driving home and went mudding in an area between a sewage treatment plant and the river. Deep sloppy mud since all our snow has melted and we got an inch or so of rain. but.... PEW!!!!! it stank! Drive home flinging bits of nastiness all over the cars following me.
  6. Sorry... forgot to notify you. The cap and a pair of screws are on the way first class USPS. It was less than a buck and a half for postage so don't worry about it.
  7. yes, seriously. mainly cause it was a long day, I was tired, didn't feel like searching and pretty much knew the answer but wanted a sounding board.
  8. that engine is disgustingly clean
  9. ok. For those of you who have dealt with shocks before (these are the originals), I need some input. These are ride-adjustable shocks that were original on the truck. I have no idea how they actually work other than I push a little button by my console and the ride stiffens or relaxes depending on the sport or comfort selection. I did a poor-mans lift using heavy JGC springs and got a good 3" of lift. Ever since I did the lift, the comfort/sport select switch has been kind-of illuminated and unresponsive so I guess they didn't want to be extended an extra 3 inches or I buggered something up when I was under there. I don't care if I have an adjustable ride on a 16 year old truck and haven't had the ability to change it for years now. so... with that said.... I need a recommendation on shocks or some guidance on how to get some. Do I get a set based on the year and model, just like any other replacement part? Do I try to get a longer shock since it has lift? How might I do so? Do I HAVE to replace with the adjustable ones or can I go with ones that are non-adjustable (and significantly cheaper)? and... timely responses would be appreciated so I can get an order into rockauto so I have them by Saturday. Thanks
  10. Saturday should be in the 40's so I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.
  11. I was coming out of the store and noticed this...
  12. yep... I've got those. PM me with your address and I'll get one on the way
  13. I know the SE and LE versions came with the keyless entry... not sure of the XE
  14. yep.. fix is better than patch. I'd be glad to mail you the needed part for the cost of postage (unless it's less than a buck then I'll just do it for the hell of it. ;-)
  15. got a picture of the part you broke? I still have some leftovers from my old engine that I'd be glad to rid myself of.
  16. you could hook a piece of fish tubing to a vacuum of some sort and use probing suction to get hold of it.
  17. I heard it was a pretty nasty one. Hope everyone over there is OK
  18. put gas in mine... then killed what was left of the kid's snowman.
  19. Cool. There are always things I need but half the fun is heading over to shorty-n-daves and picking through their piles. Of course, that will have to wait until the spring thaw.
  20. If you don't feel like removing the fender, there is a cutout near the battery that has a small wrapped wire pair coming out of the main harness and running back to the power antenna. THose are the wires that you would need to cut and splice in a switch.
  21. let's see... I have 2 from the different NorEaster weekends, one from NIORA, one from NPORA, one from PAragon and one from Rausch creek. yep.. probably me
  22. I took apart my power antenna to figure out why it wasn't working. While in the fender, I installed a cut-off switch between the antenna motor timer and the motor itself so I can leave the antenna up or down in the winter rather than fight with the ice and frozen mechanism.
