I paid $80 out the door for 2 new JGC coils from Kragen.... not much more than a JY and a whole lot easier (I'm lazy).. and there's no Pathys in my local JY's..

DenisB: I had cleaned all that when I had,had the motor out, but I can check again fer sure.. I'll look again. I get no error codes... and it hasn't done it since (except when cold the rpms are high 1100-1800).... my fan clutch wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?? (looking for anything right now) cuz I know that's on the way out.... Thanks guys

:furious: ok. So.. I used the search function.. couldn't find this problem..and it just started yesterday. I had fluctuating rpm problems for about a month. Ok..fine..so I cleaned the MAF sensor. Cool beans..everything was fine..for a week.. until yesterday... then.. after a 55 mile drive to my brothers.. I get to a stop sign..put clutch in..come to a slow stop...and my rpm's shot to 1800 and stayed there until I put ehr in first and moved! :furious: so.. I think this is just a glitch.. everything was fine going through the gears.. no hang ups.... stop at bros.. again.. put clutch in.. rollup to park... and BAM! right back up to 1800 rpm again! Left.. drove 50 more miles.. nada, perfect..no problem... did it twice more b 4 getting home. Every time it did this, I had pushed the clutch in but was rolling to a stop.... or stopped..with foot on clutch. Could the clutch be causing some sensor or another to trip the high rpm's? She runs perfect besides..and I have my smog test coming up and don't want this happening. FYI.. 5 speed, 4 door 1992 Pathy for those who don't know. Also, for those who don't know that I had the motor out in Feb '05 and did the headers, h2o pump, t-belt- o2 sensor, t-stat, plug wires, plugs, and a few other things, so there should be no reason for this sudden glitch. Cleaning the MAF solved the sporradic rom problem on start up and idle..and now this! ARGH!!!

 maybe if we import some roos we'd get those bumpers?
-
yeah.. that's bout average.... :contract:
-
it gets 107+ here too and i can only get a stock temp t'stat (170) and it works fine. make sure you install it correctly! and as above, keep your fluids topped up and use good coolant and you'll be fine..if yer temp starts runnin a lil warm.. you need more fluids..mine sure lets me know!
-
or.. if yer feeling ambitious.. go for the Z's twin turbo set up.. I hear an extra 200 ponies *drools* If you go the cam route..I hope oyu don;t have to smog yer Pathy if you go any bigger than one larger than stock...

I'm with DSM.. I paid $98 for a Bosch o2 sensor..and OMG was it worth it! I've saved that much in gas!
-
can someone do a write up on this..cuz I am an electrical idiot.. but I have 6 ligths to install up front and noooooooo clue how to do it....
-
well... as I am no master mechanic.. my latest write up was the installation of an aftermarket steering wheel.. I did do a running commentary on my Pathy when I pulled the motor.. but I am poor.. so new mods are in the wings.. I think I did a wrtie up/or pics about my JGC coil conversion... but 88 had already covered that pretty good..so I think I just posted pics.... I can't write about something I've never done or haven't done yet.... *goes back to her Pathy planning corner*

There is no way to get a grip on the stud? (not the extractor).. PB blast it...take a deep breat and as above needle nose pliers or something of similar thiness and hope for the best! I also had an extractor break off but there was just enough to get ahold of and carefully coax it out... good luck..patience is the key -
bingo! -bounce-
