Yes, Marcel is a good guy. I would recommend using the BP Skids over the AC Skids. I've had both BP and AC's skids, and BP's skids held up a lot better than ACs....the AC skids went concave on me after the first trail I hit...and they were 3/16" steel! The 10ga BPs held up better than that, but I eventually upgraded to the 3/16" BPs when I came out here to AZ for a little more protection on the rocks. The last hard rock hit I had was at 10-15mph, stopped my truck dead. I thought for sure I broke something...yup, I sure did...THE ROCK! BP Skidplates are the best available, and there's no way around that.

Cleaner Wax works too, and better most of the time.

BP ships from Manitoba. AC's Customer Service has gotten a LOT better since they hired Volrick. He actually knows his arse from his elbow and isn't a totally useless idiot like Aurthur. Also, he's taken over most of the customer service stuff for Jane, so she isn't nearly as spread thin, and they're actually getting very good reviews lately. Give them another shot, and talk with Volrick - he's good people.

I tried that Scott....and I couldn't see a damn thing. Maybe I should get my engine cleaned.

It's the Idle-Air-Control Valve. It's a valve that opens when the throttle body closes to allow air to bypass the TB and allow the engine to idle. Mine is either gummed up or FUBAR'd because my idle is off and the DTC is showing IACV malfunction. Meaning that it is not opening and closing as it should. I haven't been able to find it in my engine though. I was hoping that Dean or Lewis would chime in with a picture with it circled in red saying...LOOK HERE YOU BLIND BASTAGE!!!

Have you tried AutoZone or PepBoys or someplace like that? You can get some pretty cheap there. They're usually sold in pairs, though, and run about $20-25.

Yes, there are....several in fact. No, the VG tranny is different from the VQ tranny. To answer the poll, there isnt an option for me. I added a Hayden 24" cooler 2 months after I bought the truck at 34,000 miles. I flush the fluid religiously and use synthetic fluid every 30,000 miles, and I don't experience any of the typical hard shifting, any slipping, or any problems at all, at 115k. Nissan transmissions can be very reliable if you take proper care of them, and don't drive your truck like it's a racecar *cough* Max *cough* Wheelman *cough*.

Actually, Justin, Honda purchased the rights to sell the Rodeo under the Honda name as the Passport, and Isuzu built them 100% except for the labeling. They had a 3.2L V6, Dana44 rear axle. The earlier ones (the ones that look more similar to a WD21) had leaf sprung rear ends, and the newer ones have a 4-link coil setup. ALL Pathfinders have a 5-link setup - unless it has been altered.

The diagrams in the FSM and the pictures in Hayne's are absolutely worthless. Where in the hell is the IACV on my 99? I was under the assumption that it was a little plunger valve do-hickey near the TB, but I can't for the life of me find it!

Paragon has Monthly Rides the first weekend of every month where you can tool around with a trail guide who knows the park very well, and knows all about 4-wheeling. I don't recommend doing this because they are very slow and always extremely crowded in the summer. RC doesn't really have any sort of formal guided rides, however, you can hire a trail guide for the day. Now....here's where it gets interesting. I'm planning a run at RC for the weekend after Thanksgiving (yes, that is a long ways out). I know the park very well. Get some good all-terrain tires and some armor on your truck and I'll show you what she's really capable of.

I'll keep you informed of any upcoming events I hear of. I know this is a little short notice, but NIORA is having a run this weekend at Rausch Creek.
