I, too, have a set of the BlackPanther skids (The SuperSkid) in fact, and I must say, that Marcel is doing a TOP NOTCH job in customer service and product development. They are great quality pieces and they look really nice too! Good job buddy. As for L&P, they know how to run a business, however, they both have primary jobs (L&P is a side thing), and they are both going through some very serious personal issues as of now. BlackPanther is run by a guy on this forum actually, I believe his username is runnerman. Marcel, where are you? Hehe. I forget the website, but he can post it.

I'm not sure about the 96XE, but my 99SE does. Look by the bottom of the fuel gage for a little circle. If there's on there, you should have a fuel light. Mine wont come on until the gage is on E. And I still have 4 gallons left at that point...heh.

I use the Trico Teflon blades in summer and the Trico winter blades in winter....they work very well for me. If your wipers freeze to your windshield, I suggest you pull them up when you park in winter. I do this, and never have a problem.

Where are you located? Do they salt the roads heavily in winter? It might be what happened to mine, rusted together. My hood latch went bad and I'd have to bang the living crap out of my hood before it would open. Rusted together actually. It was a 2-man job to open that sucker. I'm in Rochester, NY, if you're close, I could help you. A replacement hood latch is only like $20 from Nissan, too. And it's a VERY easy job to replace. 3 nuts, that's it. As far as your heating issues goes, if you're not low on coolant, and the thermostat is good, maybe there's a clog in your cooling system somewhere. Happened on my Intrepid, and eventually worked its way into one of the coolant lines in the block, and blew the head gaskets.... If there is a clog, get it fixed immediately

There's a huge descrepancy from where I live and where I go to school, only 10 mile difference, and the regular by my house is $2.299, and the regular at the station by my school is $2.139....I ALWAYS try to fill up at school....hehe. I hate my 12mpg... :furious:

Is it an XE or SE? How much do you expect to get for it? Assuming it is an XE, without any options other than what you listed, with the mileage (average for the year) and the accident record, I don't think you'll get any more than $6,000 for it.

inferior? Yes, I have purchased T-Shirts through them before and it fell apart after only a few washes. The screening is poor quality, and the shirts are essentially undershirts.

Yeah, for the cost and effort, you're better off just swapping motors. Assuming your motor is still good, you can recoup probably $800 for it. A complete Xterra supercharger setup will run you about $2300 just for the parts (according to the guy who tried it on his QX4) and a NEW Xterra S/C engine can be had for about $2800 from a Nissan dealer. Used ones or private are less expensive. -

Somone tried this with a 98 QX4, and ran into some serious issues with clearance and the manifolds. If you're willing to but a big bulge in your hood, and pay to have a custom manifold made, then, you should be able to do it, but, at that point, you might as well get a better supercharger. -
My SE doesn't have VDC... Yeah, the bumpers on the QX hang a little lower than the Pathfinder. It's only a small difference, but for the purist, it might matter.

I talked with the so called "Guinea Pig" recently, and the lift itself is essentially complete. They are looking for shocks that are long enough to compensate for the extra 6" of suspension, and are in the process of putting the final touches on the fabricated parts, sanding, and painting, and what have you. I know P pretty well, and I know for a fact that he, nor L, are one to screw someone around. They have been having some serious personal problems in the past year (illness and such). They also both work other jobs. You have to give them credit for trying, and understand that sh*t happens at the most inopportune time. I'm actually beginning to worry about P, because last I heard he was very ill, and that was about 2 months ago. :sniff: (Hope you're doing OK buddy!) They are working as hard as they physically and emotionally can to sustain L&P, and cater to their customers.

The QX4 and Pathfinder both perform outstandingly off-road. The bumpers on the Q sit a little lower than the Pathy, so approach/departure angle is sacrificed slightly. As far as performance/reliability, they are identical. With $13,500 to spend, you will probably be looking at used samples with the 3.3L engine. It isn't the most powerful motor out there, but it is very reliable and strong. The Q is more of a luxury SUV and wasn't really designed with off-roading in mind, but the Pathfinder was. That said, there aren't many differences in the drivetrain or suspension. However, some models of QX4 have a full-time AWD or automatic 4wd. Personally, I don't like that feature, I much prefer a lever to pull. As for the Pathfinder, they were available in 3 trim levels, XE, SE, and LE. XE being the basic model with very few creature comforts, AC, Power windows being about it. The SE added higher gearing and larger tires, along with optional leather and sunroof, and auto AC. The LE is the high end, fully loaded version, with sunroof, leather, power seats, Bose stereo, etc etc... My recommendation to you: If you do mostly on-road with a little bit of mild off-road driving, and are looking for more comfort than off-road capability, go with the Q. If you do more off-road driving (at least once a month or more), and are willing to sacrifice some creature comforts for some off-road prowess (the Pathfinder has slightly better angles and GC than the Q), go with the Pathfinder. Plus, an Infiniti on the trail doesn't look right. hehe...

Hmmm...Yeah, I read that and got a very different reply. They said that they are not planning on producing snorkels for Pathfinders any time in the near future, but they have been getting interest in them. I also asked them about adapting another snorkel to fit a Pathfinder and they said that they don't recommend it as their snorkels have been thorougly and specifically designed for certain vehicles to ensure proper fitment...blah, blah, blah... Hmm... :sniff: Oh well...let's see where this leads.

I emailed Safari 4x4 directly inquiring as to whether they would be interested in producing a snorkel, and how much interested up front it would take, etc etc...yadda yadda....hope to hear back soon.

I definitely agree on the website and slogan. I think the actual club logo should go on the shirt. And a single picture of a Pathfinder in a really nasty situation. I like the picture of Mr. Jim's Pathy, but I think it needs to be a little bit more hardcore for the shirt. I also like the way its stylized.

If you add a suspension lift, it will void the suspension coverage, but not the entire warranty. I am under the impression, that if you modify something, it will void that part of the warranty but nothing else. I.E. If you add a cone element intake, and your transmission or differential blows up (the cone filter, cannot possibly increase power enough that the transmission or differential will blow up solely due to that) they should still cover the stuff. But to be sure, you should check with GE. On a side note, I was actually looking to get one of those Gold Plan extended warranties, and I was talking with one of the people at great length, and I asked him, if my truck is modified (i.e. lifted, with exhaust, etc) will the warranty still apply. And he said it depends....so I didnt' get it.

There are two tow hooks on the front and and two tow hooks on the rear of the truck. In order to install a tow hitch in the rear, you must sacrifice the rear tow hooks, but thats ok, because you'll have a hitch. If you were to want to install a winch, you would also have to install the TJM T-15 Bull Bar bumper available at a number of places including 4WheelParts and AC (4x4parts.com). Some members on this board aren't very fond of them, but I have yet to have a clouding experience with either. You would then mount the winch to the bull bar. Another option would be to fabricate a front mounted reciever, and run wires for the winch to the front and rear, and bolt it to a reciever winch mount, so you can winch from the front or the rear. I do not have a winch, and have only been in one or two situations where one would have been of use (but I know my limits and try to stay within them, being open and unwinched). If you were to add the TJM bumper, it would bolt right up to the sub-frame rails that run through the front of the truck. Essentially, where the stock bumper bolts up.

It could be almost anything. Worn springs Control Arms could cause it to lean. Unbalanced load? Does the truck lean the same amount all the time, or is it eggsagerated when the gas tank is full?

This is a very common 'issue' (more appropriately, quirk) with Pathfinders, if you could even call it that (an issue). I've had the hard 1-2 shift since day one, and haven't had any problems arise because of it in over 45,000 miles of ownership. I have discovered that if you run 1st gear out a little higher, to 15-20mph, it will shift very smoothly, however, at 5-10mph, like in stop-and-go traffic, it shifts hard. Best thing you can do to prevent problems is to make sure your tranny fluid is the right type and at the right level, too much or too little, or the wrong kind can cause serious problems. You also want to make sure your tranny is getting efficiently cooled, addition of an external transmission cooler will definitely help in this area (Large transmission cooler at Advance is $48, and you can install it yourself quite easily, just watch out for tranny fluid, and don't forget to account for the extra capacity in the cooler.) HTS... The dealers use an OBD2 device that will read the ECU Fault codes, clear them, and reset the ECU. You can purchase a basic one at any major auto parts store for about $150. Dan

I had removed the flares a while ago actually. I got caught up over the summer and it tore a nice hole in my spare tire and ripped off the rear mud flaps, so i figured, what the hey, and just pulled the rest of them off. Besides, it looked stupid with the flares and the tires pulled in with the 31s. I like the look if it without the flares too. Just gotta do soemthing about the holes it left behind.
