  1. Well then, that makes a whole lot of sense and explains why it's so unique. Looks damn sexy Thanks for the info Fukinitupagain
  2. Good question buddy, and an important one when modding a rig I've got 32" tires on my R50 and thus far the stock brakes have worked great. Granted they are new pads and rotors... I bought the rig in April and drove it over 2000 km from where I bought it back to my home city and the brakes never failed me once in any way. In fact, in comparison to a stock R50 (my buddy also has a '98 rolling on the stock wheels and tires), I find my truck handles the stops much better, which is due to better quality rubbers which of course are in contact with the ground For argument's sake, you could beef up the fronts. That's always a good application on any vehicle anyway. But you could do that regardless of whether or not you wanted to throw on some larger rubbers. As for the ABS, I'll have to get back to you on that. In the rain it seems to work just fine but I have yet to put that feature to any real use. Once winter rolls in I'll have much more to tell about it. I think with the right tires though, the ABS would probably end up having to work less in those ulgy situations where stock tires might make the brakes and ABS work harder than they should. I guess what I'm saying is tire quality is as equally important as brake quality when it comes to stopping to your rig
  3. Awww, that is wicked!!! I contacted a company here in Canada that can import those lights; I'm still waiting on the price however If I do get lucky enough to get a set, I may ask for your help. After all, your R50 is quite well known for setting some amazing benchmarks! You're like a R50 pioneer man!!! Me jealous Thanks for the info
  4. Ah yes... good point. I guess I am a bit late eh? In any case, that's a nice snorkel... it's so flush with the fender... The one sold on 4x4parts.com looks quite different in comparison
  5. Yee yee, I think the biggest issue at hand is cost... but I'm trying to be uber-optimistic in the hopes that it could be done without me having to sell my soul Regardless of the rear disc conversion I am definitely going to beef up the front brakes come spring. I bought the truck with all new pads, rotors, etc. up front so I'll run 'em through winter and wait till spring. I'm still wondering if the Terrano (JDM Pathy) did come with 4-way discs or not... If that were the case, it wouldn't be that crazy expensive to ship in the JDM rear and just swap it on... shipping would be pretty nasty but meh... I just thought about this idea and my mind kept running with it Ooops... This thread is gonna live on until I find out the truth! It must be known!!!
  6. DooD!!! You have the JDM Terrano headlights!!!! I gotta ask you, where did you find them? Was it easy to install? I've been wanting to do that mod since I picked up my Pathy...
  7. Ooooooooooooh that Pathy looks wiiiiiiiiiicked! The Xterra wheels looks amazing. Good work buddy!
  8. Yeah those photobucket pics don't work... Any way you could post some more for us?
  9. Why not just buy a Patrol in that case? They kick ass
  10. I'd like some skid plates... I hear the Black Panther guy is from Winnipeg...? If so, I can try to help to convince him to get back business. I'll put on my best sad face
  11. I'd say the full OME set up is pricey but well worth it if you can afford such a super-fantastic mod. For coils, the OME HD 2" springs are just retarded (as is damn sweet!). I combined those with KYB GR-2 struts and Bilstein 5100 shocks... and haven't looked back since I've heard many good things about the AC lift too. As long as the springs are beefy enough (which they will be), the only major worry is $$$. A suspension lift kit makes all the difference in the world on a truck. The improvement between OEM and aftermarket is night and day. Well worth it!
  12. that's a lot of replies! Thanks everyone!!! For me, the biggest thing is that drums are brutal when they get wet. In winter, going through snow and @!*% makes the drums basically useless. A 4-way disc set-up would work wonders for braking, esp. in nasty winter conditions and in deep-water situations. Lousy drums Also, drums rust up and look just naaaaaaaaasty! Discs all around would look damn sexy and serve a real nice purpose. I'm still researching possible donors for such a conversion... As of yet, I'm still clueless. BUT, I heard some Infiniti QX4 late models have rear discs, as well as its Japanese counterpart the Terrano Regulus. I have yet to confirm this but I'm still researching! Thanks for the support ya'll! This forum is the shiznit!
  13. That's a very tragic accident. May he rest in peace. My condolences go out to his family and friends.
  14. Hey hey everyone! Hope all is well across the forum. Summer is pretty much over and, for me at least, snow is on the way... *shudder* However, this is the first time in at least 5 years I'm looking forward to snow because I can put my ride to some use and see how it handles the cold. But I digress... I've been doing a whole lot of research on my truck ('98 R50) and have made the tentative decision to modify the rear drums to a disc-brake conversion. That being said, I'm wondering if anyone has ever come across such an idea, or have already made such an attempt. I'm quite certain such a modification would cost some serious coinage; even so, I'd like to see if it could be done and what would be required... If anyone has any useful info or advice, I'd be uber happy! Cheers!
  15. Thanks everyone! Good to know this forum is chock full of friendly Pathy enthusiasts. There aren't many here where I live so it makes modding a little difficult. Good to know I can come on here and get some much needed help. As for the pictures, I'll upload what I've currently got! Enjoy :)
  16. a-hoy-hoy my name's tyler and i picked up a '98 pathy xe in late april. it's a wicked ride, both on and off the road. it's got a 2" old man emu hd suspension lift, kyb gr-2 front struts, bilstein 5100 rear shocks, custom fab rear detachable sway bar links and 32" toyo open country a/t tires. i've got a list of many other things i'm hoping to do with it but my knowledge is limited beyond oem specs. i've always been a huge nissan car fan, going way back to the days of gran turismo on the psone, but my love for nissan trucks began in 2004 when i first saw a titan at a local dealership. since then i've been lucky enough to get my hands on a badass pathfinder, a great truck which is a pure blast to drive. i plan on hanging on to this truck and hopefully making it a real head-turner. i hope nobody minds the amount of questions i'll have to make that dream a reality all the best to everyone who's making their pathfinders their off-road dream rides! tyler
