Right on, Pezzy! All those craptacular aspects considered, I think it was a pretty good deal.
-
No, not really. If I thought so, I would've looked elsewhere for hubs... No need to point out how YOU saved $50...
-
I have the same dimensions for rubbers (265/75R16) and my rims are 16x8 with 4.75" backspacing, which is the absolute maximum I was told. 4.25" should work and give you an additional .5" of space. Or am I just a schnook?

Of course an RB26DETT is the most badass way to go. But that's some big coin and lots of time to make it work right. The RB25DET should be just nasty all-around.

That's so mean... Yet gut-bustlingly high-larious!

Check with Alkorahil on his parts thread: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=18653

It came to $170USD altogether. Mike's a nice guy like that! So with the exchange, I think it was $198CAD... Considering NAPA's staff price was $280CAD, taxes included, AC's offer was to good to pass up.

custom exhaust for a VQ35, diameter suggestions?
tekazgtr1984 replied to Justin517's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Yup, I'm planning on the same for my exhaust upgrade. 2.25" out to 2.5" should be all one needs for the VG to sound mean and breathe right. -
But do you have All-mode or just the manual transfer case? And 4x4parts.com didn't rip me off. I paid just shy of $200 altogether, and they arrived in 2 days. That includes the exchange and duty. Booya!

The RB does have better torque, and rightfully so as it's an inline 6. But you'd have no challenge whatsoever in getting equal numbers out of a well-tuned SR. 260HP is almost what the stock numbers are for the S15 SR20 so I doubt there'd be any trouble getting those numbers out of a S13 engine. But to each his own. Either choice will be a good one. Just remember to post pics!!

RB25DET is heavy but it should work... Why not go with a SR20DET? You can get very similar numbers and it's considerably smaller and lighter.

Here here, Dean!

Werd. Diesel's the way to go for badass torque! I'm still trying to find a QD32 for a reasonable price but it's a little tough. The TD27 would be nice but there's a silly turbo upgrade available for the QD that I just can't help but want. If all else fails, I'm shopping around for a VG33ER at the JY's across the country. BTW, does anyone know if the VG33ER uses the same transmission as the VG33E in the R50?

X2 Weather plays a huge factor in gas mileage. I've noticed my mileage drop over the last couple months thanks to a wicked cold snap. It sucked....

I've got American Racing 767 steel wheels, 16x8 with 4.75" backspacing wrapped in Toyo Open Country A/T tires (32X10.5) and it's a great set-up. It's still got balls and stops on a dime (but the again the brakes were replaced about 9000 km ago) so I'm quite happy with it overall.
-
Not at all. Never any rub except when I'm turning at full lock, in a parking lot (like Pezzy said before).
-
I have the 16x8 on my rig with 4.75" backspacing. My 32x10.5's fit nicely, only rubbing at full lock.

Guaranteed an aftermarket ECU add-on would be a huge improvement to remap figures and thus optimize air-fuel ratios better than the OEM ECU. I thought of this last night when my friend suggested a stand-alone unit and boost controller but that's some serious coin. For this a SAFC II would do just fine but I would consider a boost controller for down the road. Once I have it all running proper, it would be sweet to experiment with increasing boost values to see how output would improve. So scratch the Xterra ECU; I still need a VG33ER FPR though. Aside from the supercharger and plenum, am I missing anything? Anyone have any pics of the S/C Xterra engine bay?

That's ok bro. Any help is appreciated, be it parts or advice. What I need for this s/c mod to work is the VG33ER ECU and FPR. I know it won't fit with the R50 OEM hood but I can remedy that by dropping the tranny when I install the SFD. I'm just wondering what other parts I'd need to make this VG33ER smooth and worry-free...

Hehe, cool man! I figure with the money I'll save on NOT engine swapping, I can afford ARB air lockers!
-
With any SUV, especially pre-2005 or so, MPG's pretty much out the window... And yeah, with 32's I get the same mileage as my buddy with his stock '98 LE. No difference.
-
Yup, that's definitely an awesome benefit. There's a Hilux Surf 2.4TDi here, the owner made a custom filter/reservoir kit in his garage for vegetable oil from fast food joints. Like bio-diesel! In other news, I've put the engine swap plans on hiatus. New plan is to supercharge the VG33E! That, SFD and 33's it should be something nastaaaaay!

Yup, Warn makes a set for the R50, well-priced and very good quality. https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=720 As for tires, you could narrower. But in all honesty, just stick with OEM measurements and you'll be fine.
-
Cheers to that bro! I considered the 4.3L Vortec as it's easy to find and relatively affordable. If I end up doing a swap, I'd aim for a Nissan engine just to maintain the theme... Yeah, I'm a putz like that. I definitely plan on doing exhaust regardless of a swap, only because I have a hook-up locally who has offered to help me out. I thought of internal mods for the VG33E; if anything, I'd still do the swap and then beef up the VG once it were out. Then my plan was to find a D21 HB and drop it in there.

Well, the R50 comes stock with locked driving flanges so even in 2WD the front drivetrain is still in motion. With manual hubs installed, you have the capability to unlock the front drivetrain and allow the front wheels to freewheel while in 2WD. This is said to help increase gas mileage.
