  1.

You'll fit right in so welcome to NPORA Bro!!

I'm new to the R50s myself, but from what I have read, a sub frame drop and your new friend saws-all are what you will need to get 35's mounted. I'm sure there is more detailed info in the R50 and Custom Fabrication sections.

    B

What B sad. And yes, full retard is the only to go. :aok:

Welcome to the forum! Best of luck with your build.

  2. I'm putting together a list of what I need for the SFD project on the QX4, which I'm hoping to start in early May once the Bimmer's back on the road. I'm wheel shopping and came across a beautiful 17" wheel which I think would just wild; the only concern is the 17x8 is only offered with 4.5" backspacing. To that end, I've tinkered with the idea of running wheel spacers to make it work but obvioulsy I'm a bit skeptical to run spacers. I don't plan on seriously wheeling the QX4 and I'm curious if anyone on the forum has or does run wheel spacers on their R50s, and if so, where they acquired them. I'm hesitant to shop eBay for something like this so if anyone can shed some light on this it would be great. :)

  3. I tried to remove mine once per spaz's instructions and it did want to let go. I was tryng to fix a stuck mast, but ended up npt needing to remove it.

What is an OE vs. fleabay replacement worth?

What is the proper lube to use on the mast?

I wish mine were a case of it being stuck. The old mast was bent pretty badly so I had to replace it.

I got an eBay replacement for $13 shipped and it looks identical to the OEM mast.

I'm not sure what the proper lube is but I'm just going to load it up with TKX spray lube.

I had an idea of sorts last night regarding the antenna. I wonder if it's possible to remove the motor and mast and replace it with an immobile, short antenna, much like those found on newer vehicles. The OEM hardware just sucks IMO.

  4. After lifting your truck, all you need to do is aim the headlights down slightly and you'll be the same as stock. It takes about 1 minute to aim them down.

HID bulbs tend to blind people because the "brighter" light is scattered through the lens. I'm not a big fan because I get blinded by all the Silverados and Civics that put them in around here. Otherwise I wouldn't really care. Some headlights are worse then others and maybe aiming them down further helps quite a bit.

And while not exactly the same, my friend bought luminatic bulbs (halogen) and now both his hi and low beam suck. In fact, he can see less with his high beams then low. This is mostly because the colour is different (cool white or something?). Proof that stock is usually the best.

But maybe I'm just spoiled :friday:

    Yeah, you are. ;)

Luckily, the '99.5-up may disperse xenon light better than most Civic/Silverado lenses out there. But pointing the bulb down should solve the 'blinding other drivers' issue pretty easily.

Keep us posted on this mod. :aok:

  5. Thought I'd throw this up on here to see who's got what in the rear on the their SFD'd R50s. I had a shock in mind for my '98 but IIRC the '99.5-up uses different mounts for the shocks...:scratchhead:

I'm curious as to what's good. I still want to go with Bilstein but I don't know if 7100's will work on the Q.

  6. lol

    It's a Canadian thing

Hardly, although it is nice to have up here. ;)

BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, etc. have had this as factory equipment for many years on their vehicles; very common on European vehicles. My E38 has 'em and I love it, especially nice when it's rainy and all the dust and muck from the roads get all over the headlights.

The BMW system uses high-pressure jets where Mercedes-Benz uses that and sometimes implements mini-wipers. Either of these would work well on a Pathfinder.

Do keep us posted on your progress. :aok:

  7. Had to replace the antenna mast as it was slightly wonky and bent and wouldn't go up or down properly. The replacement mast arrived so I took a stab at removing the broken one. I seem to have missed something because the broken mast just doesn't want to come out. I removed the cap (threads counter-clockwise) but the lower portion of the mast just won't budge out of motor sleeve. :scratchhead:

Does anyone have experience with this and if so, what am I missing? The replacement kit came with instructions but the English is sub-par and spotty at best.

  8. The 360 is for you teenage kids, the PS3 is for adualt gamers. But a Good gaming PC makes them both Junk just my :my2cents:

    :goodpost:

That pretty much sums it up.

Kinect is pretty wicked; Move is just as good, though.

Free online and Blu-ray. Not much else to say. PS3 FTW. :aok:
