  1. :scratchhead:

Maximas had DOHC from about 90 on. Pretty sure they used it in the I30s too.

You're right but it wasn't a VG-series engine. I'm referring solely to that series. If Nissan decided to put a DOHC VG in their top-end FR sports car, why not in their top-end SUV (be it the D21 or the R50, as the Z32 spanned both generations)

People who drive xterras dont deserve the privilege of driving a VQ powered vehicle....simple fact. They are just not cool enough

Leave it to Andrew to have all the facts... :aok:

  2. tekazgtr- it is a little "excessive" but its not all bass, I also have 16 6.5" speakers, 4 4" midrange speakers, 2 4" supertweeters. I have a great EQ and headunit so everything sounds perfect (to me anyways, no distortion at full volume) I have 6 amps in all right now.

Hey, as long you like it who cares what I think.

I was referring moreso the non-OEM look. I've had some pretty serious systems in both my trucks ('93 Chevy Blazer and the '98 Pathy) but I tend to *try* and keep that OEM look, mostly due to theft and the like.

I definitely agree with you on the overall high-quality sound over mega bass... Same thing goes with home theatre systems, too. ;)

I also want to see this dual-alternator set-up, as I've been toying with the idea since I first got the '98 three years ago. Definitely keep up the good work!

  3. You're referring to the D22 Xterra (pre-2005), correct?

Not sure what Nissan's reasoning was, even with the offering of the VG33ER. What really baffles me in regards to VG-equipped Nissan vehicles is that R&D never produced a DOHC VG-series engine for use in a vehicle besides the Z32 Fairlady/300ZX. I think the first gen R50 and the D22 Xterra/Frontier would've benefitted greatly had they been powered by a VG33DE/VG33DER.

    Just my :my2cents:

  4. The front LSD's have a much lower breakaway torque. The rear is like 280ftlbs to slip.

The nismo front LSD for fronteirs is like 60ftlbs and other aftermarkets will close to that.

The 300ZX r200 LSD's when installed up front on a pathy provide 80~100ftlbs depending on maintence and wear.

The Z LSD may cause understeer on slipery conditions but the others should not.

I thought the Frontier/Xterra front diff wasn't interchangeable on the R50...? :scratchhead:

  5. Have you heard of anyone installing those Jim Wolf S1 Performance Cams for the R50?

Nope, I had no idea such a thing even existed. Definitely worth a look, though. I'd contact JWT for more information before purchase. ;)

I think those are exclusively for the VG33E. I know HKS makes high-performance cams for the VQ35DE but I doubt those would be interchangeable on a different engine platform. :scratchhead:

  6. i wub it, and when i get my windshield replaced, and the snow clears (i hope NEVER) i will put it proudly on King :hugs:

Can't wait to see it. :)

I'm getting so anxious to get my gift! This is my first internet forum Secret Santa so I'm excited to say the least! :jig:
