But why would it take a major manufacturer like borla 15k to come up with an exhaust when any mom and pop shop can make one in a day for 300 bucks. Im sorry but seriously how hard can it be?
+1. $15K seems a bit high IMO.
Of course, R&D isn't cheap. But even so, it shouldn't require that much time or effort to design something for the R50. It's not a race car.

Naturally. Though, that seems to be higher octane gas for the VQ.
Higher compression engine than the VG.
-
I've just lost a huge load of respect for the likes of Borla... Fail.
-
True story. It's money well spent.
-
I would say that the general consensus is use the gas that grants you the most miles per gallon.
Yes, I hate ethanol so much I try to avoid it too, it makes the engine under perform.
This post. For. The. Win.

Buy SFD from krypton for sure! Hands down the best and WAAAAAY easier then doing it yourself. His Steering extension is a work of art, so buy two. One for the coffee table and one to install ;-)
True story.
Seriously, though. It is the sexiest steering extension you'll ever see.

4" seems to the most common but it can vary. Talk to shift220 about his kit available from Krypton Fabrications.

Carpet cleaning is a lot cheaper than a new diff.
Andrew needs to get his priorities straightened out.

I will have my AC 2" rear lift coils up for sale soon though!!! Yeah I know... and
I'm sure someone will wanna scoop 'em up.

Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing.

Just get some tubing with the same Inside diameter at like orilleys and clamp it on....that what I did and it has not come off yet
This.
@fusion: Just take the breather off, go to a hardware store and get the clerk to match up the right diameter. Get a few feet of the stuff, that way you got more than enough.

Or, you can contact Brooks at 12oClockLabs and order the Speedo DRD recalibration kit. The Universal U1 kit should run abour $80.
Here's the link he sent for the exact item:

Really? I ran premium in my '98 a few times, and the difference was negligible at best. I found it ran its best on 89 (mid-grade in MB) fuel and a bottle of Lucas Injector additive every third/fourth fill.
On my commute to work yesterday, I was able to squeeze nearly 300 miles out of 3/4 tank of Shell V-Power, for about 20MPG hwy. I was pretty happy with that.
It would be nice to keep that kinda mileage with a SFD and bigger tires.
-
OME 3" coils? Where were you able to find those? And a rear set shouldn't cost as much as a complete set of AC lift coils.
-
Meh... You didn't hurt my feelings.
I gotta go custom rear coils regardless.
-
I ran a tank of premium fuel through my '87 Z31T. Gas mileage was dismal, somewhere around 17MPG. Sad thing is, when I turn up the boost I'll have to run premium.
Naturally. But your Z will love you for it.
I was in the same boat when I got the 7... Premium isn't cheap. But for a huge-ass car, it gets great mileage.
Back on-topic, though. I think it's fair to say the higher the compression of an engine, the more likely it is to run on higher octane fuel.
-
A N/A VG, especially stock or close to stock, will benefit from 87 the most. A VQ will not, they need to be ran on premium, otherwise weird things will happen, like more carbon deposits, even when the computer re-adjusts the timing. The current gas system is retarded, I think 91 should be cheaper than 87. It's not how good the gas is, it's for what kind of compression it's made to run.
^This.
But it's a money grab for the oil companies. Which is why this won't change any time soon.
-
Good news! Maybe Hilux/4Runner lift coils will work on the R50.
-
I think I'll just bite the bullet and get OME HD coils up front and custom coils for the rear...
-
Thanks for the info.
OME should make factory length coils, though.
-
what about making it a drift car? lower it way way down, throw a really riced out nissan motor in it. chop the top down low. that would be pretty wild, eh?
This. I have a buddy working on a custom RWD D21 Hardbody with a SR20DET he's hoping to make driftable.
-
I'd go with the Warn hubs. They work across the board on all R50's.
-
Thanks for the advice but I'm already way past that point...
Needless to say, I'm going with a hidden relocation kit. Will post pics when I get it.

For the record, a lifted QX4 looks just as badass as a lifted Pathfinder.
