  1. Well, I still have his messages saved on my answering machine. Some of them tell me it will be done on a specific date and some are nasty calling me a wise a$$. I have the fraud line for the IRS and I will call the zoning\building department about the illegal business. I also paid him everything in check form minus about $400 of what I have given him.
  2. Holy SH!T. Well, I have to go to court to get my truck. The truck is finished, but it isn't running right. So, I'm taking it somewhere else. However, I told him that I would pay him if and only if I get the truck back from this new shop and they said that anything that is wrong with it has nothing to do with anything that he has done. If for instance, my cams are all worn out due to him running with low oil pressure, then I don't have to pay. Well, that wasn't acceptable. Then he brought up old work that I didn't pay for, but he didn't ask for money then. So.... He asked for $900 for the old labor and for raplacing the rear axle seal. I said, OK but I have to pay you in payments and that's where it got hairy. He didn't like that and said I could give him $550 up front and pay payments, and I said I'll give you $200 and he laughed. I said, $200 plus more monthly and no court, or we go to court and I destroy you. He chose to court way. My lawyer is waiting to hear from his lawyer tomorrow. What a predicament I have gotten myself into. And after all of this, my truck still isn't working properly. Oh, and that $900 doesn't include any engine work he did this time.
  3. I used everything here. We have to test all the browsers. I have seen FireFox, Netscape and Mozilla all have their spyware problems. I even had a guy come in with IE deleted from the system. What I mean by deleted is he had removed iexplore.exe and made his default browser Firefox and had as much spyware as I have seen with IE. They all have their problems. It's just that IE has the biggest market share so Microsoft gets picked on. I hear from people how secure Linux and Unix are. Well, Unix is more secure than Linux, but Linux has so many security holes it isn't funny. You just don't hear about it as often.
  4. I am an IT guy and I have no problems with IE. As long as you keep yourself updated, install an additional pop-up blocker, updated anti-virus and anti-spyware programs you will be fine. I haven't gotten a virus or spyware in 4 years. I use Norton Anti-Virus, spybot, ad-aware and microsoft anti-spyware. I also use the XP pop-up stopper and panicware's pop-up stopper free edition. Another way to keep yourself protected is to make your account a regular user account and only use the admin account when you need to install a program or change some settings. This way, viruses and spyware can not reek havoc since your user account will not have any rights.
  5. Ive never used that. I have this in my diffs now: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/fgr.aspx But, there is also the severe duty gear oil: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/svg.aspx As with the valvoline that you have looked at, these can be used in diff's with LSD, but if you notice some chatter, then you need to add some LSD additive: https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ada.aspx
  6. Well, I just got home from a business trip in CT. I haven't spoken to him personally but he called my father today and said now I have a sound on the other side, oil pressure drops to 40 lbs when keeping the rpms around 3000 and now I have no pressure at idle. Since I have all new lifters and the rocker arms are relatively new, I would saw that everything is clean and that I wouldn't need to run AT type F since it was all clean to begin with. My take on it is that it may be a combination of things. Old valves, not cutting the crank and an oil pump going bad. Somebody told me that a piston might be off balance or might be lifting to high and hitting the head. This place in where I am taking it next week is supposed to be really good and it is a REAL shop. Worse case scenario is that it gets rebuilt again, but this time EVERYTHING gets done. BTW, my truck is a 5 speed. I have no idea if the gaskets are on correctly, but since he has replaced them for me before with no problem, I would think that he did put them on correctly.
  7. Lucas makes an awesome injector cleaner. It is petrolium based, not solvent based. You can try replacing a quart of oil with some Marvel Mystery Oil to clean your system out. Worked wonders cleaning all the carbon buildup in my truck when I first got it. Even cleared up a sticky lifter in my bosses Subaru. You can also use it in gas. I noticed after using it that I got about 30 - 40 more miles out of my tank. However, the tank that I used it in got worse mileage. It was only after I filled up again that I got better mileage.
  8. From what I understand you need to take the oil pan out to take the oil pump out. The pump is in front but there are some bolts that areinside the pan... I haven't paid him anything yet. He checked my oil pressure and it is where it is supposed to be, but the light is still coming on and we have that clacking noise still. He is going to take the top off tomorrow and look at the drivers side cam and turn the crank to see if something is monving that shouldn't be. He said it sounds like a valve is walking. We didn't replace the springs, so I may have to. Now, from what I understand from the Nissan dealer in my area they were replacing motors in the 90 - 95 pathfinders because of the same clacking sound and they couldn't determine what the problem was. I also heard that some older fords had a problem with the block and the oil passages that caused the same problem. We are going to try and see we can find out if Nissan ever determined what the problem was. Pretty much everything is new except the block, crank and a few other things. I've replaced all the hoses, heads, gaskets, headers, cams, belts, water pump, rods, rings, rod bearing, etc... Before he started working on it, I had a tapping noise that we thought was a rod knock but ended up not being the rods. I already made an appointment with another shop to take it in the week after next. It is my Lawyers mechanic. Supposed to be a reputable shop in Montclair NJ. Any ideas????? I'm open to suggestions. I even had Ben from Jim Wolf on the phone with us today.
  9. Well, the bypassing the reloaction kit and using heavier oil did not work. So, it looks like I will be getting a new oil pump. New problem. He doesn't have the time to do so he says. So tonight I will be getting it from him and taking it home then taking it somewhere else to have the work done. Man, I can't win! This time I am taking it to a reputable shop.
  10. Well, as most of you know I have had issues with my mechanic and my truck. Most of that is about over. He is now done putting it all back together but he is having an oil pressure problem. When he hits the gas, the pressure is fine, but when he lets it idle, the pressure drops really low and the driver side head/cam/lifters are clacking. He thinks that because I got the filter relocation kit that might be giving me some trouble since the oil pump is the original pump which has 184,487 miles on it and might not be strong enough to pump up the hoses to the filter. So, tomorrow he is gonna bypass the filter kit and put the filter directly on. If that doesn't work, he is going to try a different oil weight. I have 5W-30 conventional oil in there now, but he is going to try 10W-40. After that, he has to take the cover off and see what is happening. His other thoughts are maybe that Jim Wolf sent me two different size cams by mistake with the driver side being the larger one. He can't get the distributor to line up properly. It's almost correct but not. I was thinking that the problem was because he didn't cut the crank when he put the new rods and bearing on along with the new rings and that compression is higher and screwing with my oil pressue. Any thoughts? I'm so close, but I have this feeling that the crank is going to need to be cut and there is another 9 months worth of work.
  11. Oil Change. Check Oil Pressure. Tune up with new plugs and wires. New PCV Valve (cheap and easy to replace) . New air filter. You can change all the other fluids if you aren't sure if/when it has been done. Front Diff, Rear Diff, Trans (Manual or automatic), transfer case, anti-freeze and clutch fluid if you have a manual.
  12. Well, I think it is finally finished. My dad saw him drive it today. However, he never called me to tell me it was done. So, after work my father, uncle and I went to get it. I tried to back it out of the driveway using just the E-brake. That failed, so I tried to start it, and that failed, so the 3 of us had to push it back up the driveway to the spot it was in. I think he may have disconnected something so it wouldn't start. Tomorrow, if I don't have, I will have to go over there with some big guns to get it. My body hurts from pushing!
  13. As soon as mine is back, I will post some better shots. I have 2 pics up at cardomain, but they aren't very good shots. They are from underneath the car. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/758062/3
  14. If you dump 2 bottles of isopropyl gas line anti-freeze along with 2 bottles of methynol gas line anti-freeze on a tank that is low, you should be able to pass emissions without a problem. However, once you pass you should go and immediately fill your tank since that stuff is hard on your seals. I work with a guy who is a chemist and drives an old mini-van who has done this many times.
  15. Well, it looks like tomorrow is the day. he called me and said that tomorrow afternoon it will be done and the bill is $1100. Question: Do you guys think that is fair for the labor? Keep in mind that I supplied 99% of the parts. I know that he paid for the new rings and probably some other miscellenous stuff.
  16. It's hard to be light on the pedal when you drive an S4!
  17. Even though I havent gotten mine back yet, we went with the alrgest filter we could fine. We estimated a quart just for the filter and another quart for the lines.
  18. I thought I was the only one who had that problem. The most gas I was able to put in the tank was around 17 gallons. I thought that there might be some bad stuff at the bottom of the tank.
  19. I have one, but it isn't installed yet. I'll let you know when/if I get my truck back.
  20. It connects directly to the MAF. XPLORx4 is correct. There isn't a REAL CAI that I know of, unless you make your own snorkel.
  21. Here are a couple from AC: AC Intake AC Intake 2 AC Intake 3 Jim Wolf: Jim Wolf POP Charger That's about all I could come up with while at work. Hope this helps. Rich
  22. Hey, guess what? I still haven't gotten my Pathy back. What a shocker! About 2 hours of work left and he still won't finish it. I am beside myself.
  23. Calmini Steering upgrade?????? :cool2:
  24. If the wait isn't to long, get the ceramic. If you don't want to wait then just get the regular ones.
  25. Check out my entry in this forum. I have links to the headers on Summits Site. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5665&hl=
