  1. Technically you should have the whole rotating assembly balanced before you put it in the block for optimum performance.

However, from what I have read this is mostly important for high rpm applications and for applications where you produce over 250hp.

If you are doing a VG34 modification - which can PERHAPS get you to 240-250hp - it might be a good idea to do it, but as you will be using the power mostly in the lower rpm bands it probably wont matter. If you do just the VG33 swap then I wouldn't think its necessary at all.

Saying that, if you have the extra cash, why not?

  2. some people have had success with placing the ecu in the glovebox without extending any wires. others have sealed the ecu in a plastic tupperware container and siliconed it shut.

as far as plumbing - have you seen where the intake/airbox is? you cant get it any higher without putting a snorkel device in.

  3. It is mentioned everywhere, but when I search for it I get nothing but Poho 9 results and the occasional person linking to grassroots.com.

Well, grassroots.com is some corporate communications website so I am lost. Googling got me nowhere either since all I got were the same grassroots.com links and pictures of Nissans parked on rocks.

    try grassroots4x4.com

and you should get a whole topic on the centerlink if you search on here. tells you everything you need to know. basically it is a replacement centerlink which helps solve some of the steering woes on the early pathfinders.

  4. I put an exedy clutch into mine - same manufacturer nissan uses - ran me 150 for the kit.

I dont have any experience with the centerforce, but i dont know why they would burn up with more HP? I mean, they are designed for more HP.

I'm pretty sure nissan has a HD clutch kit too, for towing or something. Idk if you can get them any more though.

  5. Dammit man, both my Pathy's had chrome!!! What are you trying to say?

I know it was in jest, just need to knock B down a peg or two every now and then. I can't let him take a shots at me, without firing back. It's all in good fun. :aok:

Haha, I wasn't sure - shoulda guessed it wasn't serious - no one on this forum ever is, lol.

Any who - don't want to thread jack... lol

  6. Nice choice of trucks. They're beautiful vehicles.

I wonder if B was referencing me with this statement?

Traitor I may be, but poser not so much. When you have taken your truck off pavement, even once, you can try to talk crap. My "poser" truck has seen more trail time in 6 months of my ownership, than both your Pathfinders in all the time you've owned them.

I'm pretty sure that comment was just in jest Simon. Everyone here knows how much you go on the trails. And your X is definitely not built like a poser truck - it would have more chrome if it was (that was a joke too for everyone's info).

Congrats on the taco ILMP, they are cool trucks.

  7. I will be replacing the seal with a brand new one. I want to mount it on the roof-rack (Garvin wilderness, 4" height) but dont want to buy an expensive mounting system for it just yet.

If I laid it on its side it would keep the profile low and I could lash it down much more securely.
