  1. There were several brush/grille guards that were optional. From what I know "brush guard" means it "protects" the lights also, and grille guard just "protects" the grille. Generally a brush guard is part of a grille guard. As far as winch mounts go, I have seen pictures of a variety of guards that had a winch plate, and personally owned a factory guard that had a winch plate (no winch unfortunately). Incidentally, the winch that came from the factory was a 6000lber.

  2. How the hell did you get the thing back in? I have been fighting with it all day and finally just gave up (until tomorrow). I was trying to do it without unbolting the engine mounts (I just got them in and it will be irritating if I have to unbolt AGAIN). Does it make all the difference with the diff?

What did you use to lift the diff up?

  3. I haven't tried studded tires on either of my pathfinders, but have on other vehicles and they do help handling at moderate speeds.

These days I drive on a lot of hard packed snow on top of gravel and carry a set of heavy duty chains for the rear. They will chew their way through almost anything when I get hung up in a drift or need to tow someone (or something).

The down side of the big chains being they toss a lot of rock when they break though, and to drive more than 20KM/hr would surely shake the windows out once underway.

I would like to try a set of the cable style to fit 31X10.5s' for the front but have not stumbled across any...yet.

I'm picking up a set of cable style for the front tomorrow. If I have to put them on, then I will use them on the front for more steering/braking control. I can always throw it in 4wd if i loose forward traction.

  4. Uhhhhh, I just noticed the pilot convertor thing. I didn't know about this and I don't think I removed it!!!!! The truck drives perfect though and the flywheel mounted (I thought) normally. Now I'm going to have bad dreams tonight!!!!

I think you will be ok. When I did mine the bushing I took out of the crank end looked and measured exactly the same as the one I put in there.

  5. Firstly you may need to work on some punctuation skills.

Secondly plenty of people have done 5 speed swaps including me, it is useful to search sometimes.

Thirdly a 5 speed from a 92 will fit in a 95. However, you must use the transfer case from the 95 as 1993 onwards had electronic speedometers and pre 1993 had mechanical.
