  1. lol, 88, you just proved my point. if everyone looks at the two graphs, from 1990 up, i think we can all agree that fuel consumption across the globe has gone up, and the price in dollars/gallon (that's adjusted for inflation) has gone up at pretty much the same rate. the price you pay at the pump is just way higher. why? because of inflation (according to the graph) i won't even mention politics because i'd like to keep this post short and sweet.
  2. let's say you don't take into account the fact that the world's oil supply is decreasing: (we're using it faster than it's being made naturally, therefore it's decreasing) the demand for oil around the world is growing, and refineries have to match that supply. that means the price goes up. and despite the fact that oil companies are making a killing off of it (a few of companies are locked into contracts, as far as i know, for $18 a barrel) it's just simple economics.
  3. it sounds more like a squeaky bed, but i'll try that anyway. lol. thanks.
  4. does anyone think it's a big deal that my front suspension creaks when i go over speed bumps? i only hear it when i go over speed bumps cuz i go over those slow n low. it sounds like someone's taking bubblewrap (the kind that you get in packages) and wringing them like a wet towel. i'd assume it has something to do w/ my new uca's or shocks, since i just did my suspension lift about a month ago. any ideas?
  5. i actually hadn't heard anything about that aerodynamics issue you brought up before. it makes sense though. good stuff
  6. would anyone else like to disagree, like me?
  7. just wait til inflation kicks in that way the money you pay back to your credit card company isn't worth crap! :tonguefinger:
  8. do you have any pics for us? is it a close fit or what? cuz if you can't fit an oil filter wrench on the top of it, a strap-style wrench might be able to get around it. i just changed my oil today and found out that a Penzoil oil filter doesn't have enough clearance to fit an oil filter wrench in between the filter and the frame. i know for sure that bosch works, but i don't have headers. i wouldn't leave the same filter on because as soon as you let the new oil go through the old filter, it'll get dirty again.
  9. what's cool is that i already drive like that before i even read about hypermiling. it's just common sense to me another thing i do is take corners kinda fast to conserve my momentum/speed. you gotta let off the gas when you come up to the turn, brake a lil bit just before the turn, and accelerate outta the apex. if i can, on a right turn, i'll go really fast and swing out to the farthest lane to the left so that i can keep my speed and not have to slow down just to stay in the farthest lane to the right. basically drive like a race car driver--efficiently. and by that i mean try to keep your speed (and thus, momentum)
  10. pre spray with what? i'm curious. i hope there's no mud at raines. i hate mud
  11. yeah, the only way to get real information is to do a field test, mythbusters-style. and to actually contribute to this thread: try to coast for a while before completely stopping. say you come up to a stop light and you're about 100 yards away. just let off the gas and roll to a stop. best-case scenario is by the time u get to the limit line, the light will have changed to green and you still have some momentum so that you don't have to start from a stand-still.
  12. actually, in my last post i said that less air pressure = less air in the tire = more heat = more energy loss. so by that reasoning *which was the theory suggested to me by my physics professor-i don't know how it works in the real world* less tire pressure means less fuel economy. but i'm no expert. well all that different friction theory sounds way too complicated for me anyway. lol.
  13. no chit? i guess if different rubbers don't typically follow the standard equations of friction, then i don't really know what i'm talking about. lol. and i'm just going off of what my physics professor said. he also brought up the question "why do dragsters have wide tires?" he told us it was because since the tire is bigger and has more air in it, it's harder to heat up. and since energy is lost as heat, it would be a good thing to have a big tire that's hard to heat up. but i could be mistaken. i can't remember 100% of what my professor said because i was spacing out at the time.
  14. more surface area contact doesn't = a rise in the coefficient of friction (the coefficient stays the same. the CoF of rubber on asphalt is 0.5-0.8). the amount of force that friction exerts is equal to the coefficient of friction times the weight of the truck. the amount of surface area in contact has nothing to do with it.
  15. did you install new a-arms? if not, then don't mess with your suspension until you've got the right parts and go get it aligned.
  16. plus they come with solid front axles
  17. i'm from a suburb by sac-town. i've seen a few lifted wd21's at my college (sierra college) but i don't think they're here on NPORA. it's sad. we should all gang together like those toyota and jeep guys do
  18. yeah, thanks for the effort, man i woulda been too lazy to get in touch w/ doug thorley or anyone else who sold those headers. it woulda been sweet tho!
  19. well that's nothing to brag about then! lol, jk. always good to hear that a Pathy outdoes some other ORV. yeah, some people just don't have common sense--whether it applies to driving or problem-solving or w/e. some ppl just don't get it
  20. you should check for it on your local craigslist or something. or ebay. maybe someone's stupid enough to try and sell it in the same area that you live in. then when you go to buy it from him/her you can punch him/her in the face and take your faceplate back. i know someone who got their dirtbike stolen and they checked craigslist after it was stolen and found an ad for the same bike posted like an hour after it was ripped off. some people are retarded.
  21. here's mine. 3+3 with stock legos and 31's, like you asked for oh and i got the coils from a jeep dismantler place for $20. and don't mind the oil stains on the driveway, they're from my dad's truck.
  22. 3+3=31's for me til i get enough money for some new tires/wheels
  23. i made it through this bank (with a stock suspension and street tires) that my friend in his toy (in the picture) got stuck in cuz he took a bad line.
