Question for the Mechanically inclined with Pathys...about tools
95shakinPF replied to NaturaTek's topic in General Forums
Damn nice score on a breaker bar unc!! You'll always be adding to your tool arsenal so get a descent set like the bigger set you were lookin at then go from there! You cant expect to get all you need outa one set, so just make sure you've got the basics like listed above. Good Luck and have fun!! -
Cruise control in '93 WD21 - where do you get it?
95shakinPF replied to Darren's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Ive worked for parts depts for several years and you actually may be able to find a dealer installed (or aftermarket ) Cruise control kit for vehicles made without CC. IIRC these kits are usually $150-up USD. I know used parts will be cheaper, but you may encounter several problems getting ALL the needed parts. Good Luck! -
Mine has the end pieces missing from the black trim around the windshield. This causes the center strip at the top of the windshield to lift from time to time and cause alot of wind noise! I am planning to have my windshield replaced soon and was wondering if they replace this molding as well. Has anyone had thier windshield replaced and know if they do replace this molding?

OOOOPS, sorry for the double post. not sure how that happened

Im thinking Im not gonna be much help other than saying if the light comes on in the cluster, the CC thinks it is setting(electronically that is). You have got to have a problem with the cables and/or vacuum! So if you press the cruise set switch and the light in the instrument cluster comes on, then the CC switch, box and all other electrical are working correctly. The cruise servo (I think its called) (the round metal thing with the diagphram inside) may be leaking.I hope Ive helped somewhat. Good luck! Billy

Does your speedometer work? Which cruise light comes on? Is it the one on the switch only or does the one in the instrument cluster also?
-
I tried all 3 and the last one was the only one that seemed to do anything. It beeped just as stated, then beeped to recognize my remote and nothing! Natta works! I guess my alarm switch on the console is FUBAR! No matter what position the switch is in the light blinks fast and alarm does nothing! Trying to set the key fob was the only time Ive ever heard the alarm siren go off! ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT!

Me,Mself and I agree to stikin to the familiar and upgrading da hell outa it!!

Faulty tach! Ive been dealing with instrument clusters for a few weeks now! I have an extra working tach if your interested. Pull the cluster and remove the black trim from the white cluster housing and you can remove just the tach! By the way, what year is your rig? Mine is a 95.

Unless you blew a fuse somehow I dont see it effecting the R-lights! It must be the switch on the trannny. Weird that it would go out just then! Are the fuse links behind the battery good? They ended up causing my pwr windows and doors locks not to work(one had corrosion on it and wasnt making contact). Good Luck!

Unfortunately, it's hard to tell which is leaking. Just in case you may want to try tightening the oil pan bolts to see if they may be loose. Be careful not to go over board tho, they may strip if overtightened!

95shakinPF: Thanks 95!... Do you need an instrument cluster panel? Yes, I do actually! I have been hitting all the JY's around here and cannot find a 94 or 95!

Try josh for the decals! http://finishlinegraphics.com

I hope you find something loose or frayed that can be repaired because 94 & 95 models have a lot of cluster issues! Im dealing with my speedometer not working right now! I'm almost positive its a bad speedometer head! Good Luck!

1st-The very bottom trim piece under the steering wheel has 2 screws at the very bottom of the dash.Remove these first. The top of this trim snaps into place, so pull! 2nd-After thats out of the way you will see the other screws holding the cluster trim in place. Remove all 4 of those to get the cluster trim off. 3rd- Then you should have 4 screws holding the actual cluster in. That should be all, besides the 4 wire plugs hooked to the back of the cluster. Trust me, I know all this because mines out of the dash right now!!! Good Luck! I love my pathy, but 95's have some crappy clusters!!
-
DONT DO THAT!! IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR VOLTAGE REGULATOR!!
-
Good Job! Glad to help! Lemme know if you have any other issues, anytime!! P.S................... Ive still got no F*%N speedometer, but ima workin on it! I'll get 'er working purty soon!

If I don't have broke studs yet...
95shakinPF replied to feloniousmonk's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
what kind of modifications did you have to do to get 'em to fit? If any? Also, why do they not list 'em for 2WD? I would think there would be less room on a 4X4 P.S.-Are pacesetters really that inferior to thorleys? -
So what ever happened with Speedy and his dual exhaust. I wonder if he ever got those dual 50 series flowmasters on his 87? Sure would like to hear a clip of that one! O.K. Can someone please help me! I'm trying to find headers for my rig. 1995 automatic 2WD! All I can find is M/T or 4WD! Has anyone put headers on a 2WD A/T before?...........PLEASE HELP!!
-
yeah! magine if he got it backwards and was looking down under the hood as it was bumped over!!

Yes, for instance, I purchased a window regulator/motor assy and master power switch assy from TadG.(via paypal)from the for sale threads on this forum. I received the parts appr. 1.5 or 2 weeks later and put my stuff together and got pwr windows and door locks again!! See, not all deals are bad! Im still upset for Scott tho! I hope He and Blouis (and anyone else that I dont mention) get their reimbursements they are due!

Hey uncc, that was a different thread cuz I remember reading bout it!

If I don't have broke studs yet...
95shakinPF replied to feloniousmonk's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
The revised manifold stud Nissan part number is: 14065-V5004 Revised Exhaust Manifold Stud. They're essentially 300ZX twin turbo studs, and they're made of a different type of steel with a more similar coefficient of expansion that doesn't tend to break like the standard ones. Im gonna do the Thorley thing as well!! Do they make 'em for automatics? -
Have you had any problems with the charging system? I thought a failing alternator would make things suddenly start acting goofy. Just trying to give some suggestions.
-
If your problem is only between 60-70 and smooth the rest of the time, its definitely tires out of balance! When you have a shake caused by wearing front end parts you will feel shaking at different intervals of speeds if not always. I would personally just do the balancing at first wait for an alignment until you correct or replace the bearing/squealing problem. F.Y.I.-Sometimes semi-metallic brake pads can cause squealing issues that will go away shortly after that particular flake of metal in the pad wears down some. Good Luck!
