OK, I was reading a post the other day when I got pulled off the puter to go do something and lost my place! Anyway, It included a link to some geo-something site that would not pull up(like the site was down?). The link was info on how to unplug the speedometer and test it somehow to rule out the speedo head being bad. Since it would not pull up I couldnt read the info and now I cant find that post either. Question-does anyone have any idea how to bypass a VSS to make the speedometer move,so that I may rule it as being good or bad? AARON? SCOTT? K9SAR? ANYONE?

Hows the wiring look around your battery? I was dealing with a few wiring issues just recently and found a fuse link behind the battery that was full of old acid and not making a connection! I replaced the fuse link with a inline fuse and re spliced the wires to eliminate the bad areas and fixed most of my problems! p.s. you may have something not making a good connection at the starter!

Well I wish that were true! Its been broke since I've bought it! Only worked maybe one hour in the 3mos I've had it!

(test)--Roll your driver window down and lock doors, exit vehicle and make sure the alarm sets(arms). Then open door lock through window and open the door, alarm should go off(scaring most punk a$$ thieves away)! Reality is, if they want it bad enough, they will steal it anyway! Honestly, I'm not sure(since my alarm doesnt work at the moment) if it has a starter kill. I thought I read somewhere that it doesnt but still not sure I dont think our pathys are quite the hot item on the stealer's lists (not like the civic, accord or camry), But if your like me, you've got a pretty nice setup in stereo that would tempt a lot of folks to attempt a "smash n grab" on the back window! (MAN, I"D BE HIGHLY PISSED!!) At any rate I hope I've been helpful, sorry for your loss. Hope you recover it and bash the bastards! Good Luck! Billy

I used to work at Advance Auto Parts in Picayune,MS (here where I live) They really do have a descent line of radiators and have a great warranty to boot! I think that would be a good decision! Good Luck, racaron!

If you can afford it, go nissan on the t-belt and t-tensioner(factory parts are usually better than aftermarket)! as far as the water pump, just get a lifetime warranty part from most anywhere. I know exactly where Lake Charles is located, its about 4 hours from where I live. I would be happy to help you some weekend with that project if you wanted to drive this way(sorry cant go there family reasons). I know its a bit far but it'll save you from paying a shop if you choose. I have just replaced my water pump about 1 month ago.The pump was fine, but the mount gasket was actually leaking. I didnt know that until I tore it down and already had the new pump in hand! Oh well, at least I know its been done and has a lifetime warranty!

Well I have been really busy fixing my 95XE and I'm almost done! Almost! I just pulled code 14 off of the ECU in mode 3 and double checked the VSS in mode 4 and no luck! does anyone have a VSS laying around(yeah rite!) they can part with? I'm not sure which years will interchange or if a 2WD and 4WD have the same VSS. Mine is a 1995 XE auto tranny 2WD. I have pulled the VSS and spun it with a volt meter attached and it rises in a/c voltage, so I thought it was good. The gear looks great so I know thats not the problem. I've done quite a bit of research on the VSS and the readings I get while manually spinning it is above .5 ac volts. The faster I spin it the higher it gets...is this still okay? Or should it max out at .5? I'd really hate to purchase a new VSS and find out that wasn't the problem...

Yeah, sorry red! BLouis just said what I was gonna say!!! B-WARE!!!
-
See if he can tell you where he got the water pump from and what kinda warranty it had cuz it looks like a water pump leaking!!!!
-
Not quite sure about that! I thought it was a kickdown switch, You Know, passing gear. That would be for A/T only.

interior fuse box location for 1990 pathfinder xe 4x4
95shakinPF replied to gsxterboy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I believe its the sames as my 95! Its just above the hood release handle blended in with the dash board! If I'm wrong, someone else with a 90 will chime in shortly! Good Luck! -
As mentioned above, you will have to adjust your rear brakes and E-brake cables for it to start working. Most people never use their E-brake, they just put the vehicle in park or in gear(M/T), causing the cables to get stuck inside their protective sheath over time. You will have to work the cables back loose again as well as adjustments as stated. (sometimes easy, sometimes not so easy) Good Luck!

Got One! Stupid alarm almost got me arrested. LOL.
95shakinPF replied to feloniousmonk's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I've got a question about this thread. As I already stated my alarm doesnt work. However, I put a new battery in my key fob and reprogrammed the thing to the box under the drivers seat (heard the confirming chirp as it acknowledged my remote) but it will not lock and unlock my doors! Does the keyless via the key fob only work if the alarm is operational? This is what I assume, since it isnt working! -
Hey 95, what part of lousyana are you from? I live in Carriere, MS. I drive back n forth to Slidell,LA. every day to work. Maybe if your not too far away, I could save you some money on that job! I'm a machinist by day and turn wrenches(ever since I was 15) by night and weekend! p.s. finish filling out your profile, it helps us help you!!

Unused wire under my driver's seat
95shakinPF replied to BobLoblaw's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Ive got an 95 XE with a plug like that. I believe its for an option that we don't have(like heated seats,as sammy says)!! -
Yeah! like he said! But, Auto trannys sometimes whine until heated up too! It comes from the oil pump in the front of the tranny. It may help to add a good transmission additive and a fluid/filter change! But I would check what "uncc" suggested first.

SUMANABITCH!! That is a rusty truck! But..... it can be fixed!!!

Ticking noise when I press the gas pedal ('94 PF)
95shakinPF replied to BobLoblaw's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Try searching exhaust studs! I remember reading a post some time ago giving all the needed info you just asked about including part #'s and price of each stud! here ya go!! http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...;hl=300zx+studs -
Actually the tick, tick noise is not all that loud unless you accelerate hard! It also seems to get quiet after the engine warms up a good bit. I think you may have a cracked exhaust manifold! Is it always loud? Blaring noise when you accelerate? Same sound when engine is first cranked and after its been running a while, or does it change at all? As far as what to drill, you will have to find which studs are broke when removing your manifolds! I know I've got at least two broken studs that I can see, no telling how many after I get to removing the manifolds!! I'm really not looking foward to that job, but you can bet your a$$ I'll be going back on with thorleys! This may help a bit! http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...;hl=300zx+studs

Hey B, what did you find?
-
Im also interested in 31x10.5's on my pathy! As of now shes totally stock with 235/75r15's on chrome stk rims and lots of fender well!! I found a descent set of 31's on sale that I'm gonna treat myself to for Xmas! my main concern is that the stk rims may be to narrow for the 31x10.50x15's. Does anyone know off hand if this will be a problem?

Although I've never been a big Chrysler fan, I do like Grand Cherokees. I will admit yours is a nice looking ride, hope you enjoy it!! p.s. I still like your pathy more!!!!
