  1. Any thoughts on this approach to a missing link? If it holds up as good as anything else, I'd like to give it a shot
  2. sfcreations.com, there are threads all over about this, just search the site for sfcreations
  3. I think all of the above.... I've seen the vampire clips on you tube videos (the Chevy I mentioned earlier). I'm planning on using shrink wrap whatever method I go with. There are definitely reasons why I'm having someone help me with this though, because some the specific technicalities of this escape me. I will be sure to take pictures when I remember to! I'm gonna continue to do research, and hopefully order parts so that I can complete this over Xmas break, which starts in two weeks.
  4. Although, I don't think they would come one when you use the manual switch on the dome light.
  5. From what other people have been saying, yes, you could trigger a relay by tapping into the dome lights, and it would come on with the dome light.
  6. Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. NICOclub has free FSM’s for all pathfinders on their website
  7. That is awesome news. Thank you so much. I think me and my buddy can figure out the rest from here, but I’ll be sure to ask any more questions I have and post pics of whatever I get done. Just gotta make it through finals week first haha
  8. Oh, so if I ran two 9W and a 20W I’d still have less than you..... Noted
  9. Alright. That makes sense. I’m glad I at least figured out that the some wiring isn’t a problem, as that was my main concern. Amp draw on my backup light will also be fairly low, it’s just a 20W. Maybe low enough to wire into the dome wiring as well as my puddle lights. What are the specs on your pods?
  10. Do you have them wired so that you can turn them on at any time as well as automatically triggering them in reverse? For me its kind of a must to be able to turn it on at will....
  11. Sweet, that's super helpful info. I'll look for those. I'm also putting in a separately wired reverse light, so hopefully I only drill one hole or can use one of those grommets.
  12. Thanks for the clarification. Nah, just two lights to add a little convenience lighting. No show truck lighting here
  13. Well, thanks for the confirmation on that @hawairish. Only other question is where you chose to access that wire? Is there one spot easier than the other, just curious. And I'm also assuming your pod's light up properly with the dome light without any problems haha
  14. I'll mention again what lights I'm planning to wire: two "rock lights" (pod style), .35A draw and 9W each
  15. I'd say its safe to assume you pods would tap more power from the system than my little lights, correct? Did you tap into the wire down below the dash, or access it somewhere else?
  16. Interesting......Correct. Just calling them rock lights out of not knowing what else to call them (and that happens to be the name of the products I'll be buying). Puddle lights is a much better word for it. But yeah, I want to be able to see ice and rocks and whatever else. I'm feeling pretty confident I can just tap into the existing wire, though.
  17. Oh, good point. I looked up what other people in different vehicles have done. I saw a jeep with 6 lights tapped into the existing dome wire and a silverado with 4 tapped into the existing wire. Also a guy who did two tacomas who said he did one with a relay, and the relay rattled and shut off mysteriously then came back on after a few weeks. The other truck he did led strips and rock lights on existing wiring with no issues. All the Jeep forums seem to have real confusion with wiring relays and lots of people have followed wiring diagrams only to not get the lights to work. My two LED's would be quite low amp draw, so I'm starting to reconsider a wiring splice.
  18. Not a problem in Idaho. Am I right to assume though that the light would not be as bright as usual, as it is with the dome light?
  19. I found two red and white wires next to eachother. There’s two open spots next to them for additional wires where on the harness that plugs into the smart entrance control unit.
  20. So, your concern is that the glowing dome light is indicative of the circuit not having enough power to run anything else off of?
  21. It is a soft glow though. I’m not sure how problematic it would be to have the lights barely on for 10 minutes after I leave my car.
  22. Alright, I'll look into that, see if I can find what you're talking about. As for the LED dome light, I have the same thing happen. It stays dimly lit, but within 5-10 minutes it fully shuts off.
  23. When you say body ECU, is that the same thing as the ECM? I see that on alot of diagrams, but no "ecu" per say. Its located somewhere by the steering column and the stereo.
