1. I had to do the same with my kit. Wasn't a really big deal, just a little time to get the holes on both sides of the housing to match up properly when re-assembling. Very pleased overall with the height and ride. Definitely more stiff than stock, but not near as bad as I was expecting from the reviews of the Ranchos being too stiff. Not so IMHO. By meats I take it your referencing Tires??? I got the Dynapro ATM's used for a good price so I went ahead and got them. They show 32.1" height on their site. I'll probably get a year out of them max, so when they need replacing, I'll be getting something with a slightly more aggressive tread and possibly will go up to 33's if it doesn't take a ton of trimming to get them to fit.
2. No problem. Thanks for looking. The rear springs were super easy to change out and very cheap for stock replacements if that's what your looking for. Got them at Rock Auto after researching prices. Didn't see the discount code on here until the day after I ordered though! So don't forget it if you order from them.
3. Hey! No. I got the spacers off of Ebay. Fleurys was not making his when I was ordering them, so I found these and picked them up. The springs are stock replacements. Moog medium duty springs and Rancho RS5000 shocks/struts. It really only gave about 1.5" in the front, but nearly 3" in the rear based on the measurements in the pic. But I can definitely tell it's a good bit higher when looking at it and parking it next to my wife's Honda Pilot.
4. Here are some before and after pics of the Pathy for comparison as well as the lift installed: ">http:// ">http:// Before pic from last week in the mountains: ">http:// After from this afternoon: ">http:// Stay tuned..........Next month we add the Wheels/Tires and manual hubs!!! 5. And just this weekend....I put on the lift kit. 2" all around, all new springs, Rancho Rs5000 shocks, replaced CV axles and a ripped boot on one of the tie rods. Let's just say it was a LOOOONG weekend. And on top of that I had to change an alternator on another vehicle which just added to the fun! 7. So I'm relatively new here and thought I'd post up a build thread for my 2003 R50 Pathy that I have dubbed the Troutfinder since that's the primary reason I bought her. To get back into the mountains of NE GA in search of some wild trout and take on road trips back home to FL for some inshore action in search of some Specks! As I have stated in previous threads, I was drawn back to the R50 due to it's style and reliability. I had a 96 SE 4x4 about 15-20 years and really enjoyed it. My new "to me!" Pathy is an 03 SE model, also 4X4. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I am building her. Feel free to comment on the progress and deliver feedback/criticism! Here's some pics early on when I bought her: ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// My first "mod" was to label her:
8. Here in N Ga they are everywhere. R50's seem to be pretty popular around the ATL area. I drive a lot for work and can honestly say I see probably 10-15/day on average. Now Jeeps have the road here though. I swear 10% of all vehicles are jeeps over this way it seems
9. Here's the current state of my 03Troutfinder SE........Will be installing a 2" spacer lift with Rancho RS5000 shocks/struts next week, and wheels/Tires just before Thanksgiving. Setup will be 20x9 MB Chaos 6 wheels in Black/Machined finish wrapped in 275/55-20 Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. ">http:// ">http:// ">http://
10. Thanks guys! I appreciate the info. Unfortunately the wheels I ordered are the deepest offset they offered. There was another set I like too but were $600 more for the set. Looking back, they offered a -18 offset, but for a 10" wide wherl, so the back spacing would have been the same, 5". Little FR, when you installed the spacers, was there any need to trim down the stock lug bolts? If so, I'll just order 1.75-2" spacers if I can avoid having to do any trimming of lug bolts!
11. I went ahead and ordered a set. The truck has 140k miles on it, and for $100 for a set, I figured I'd go ahead and get them and start new, then keep the OEM one as a backup if ever needed. I'm going to do manual hubs too, but will most likely run AVM's to save $100. They seem to have good reviews based on my research and I really don't use 4x4 that much right now, although I anticipate hitting the mountain trails much more often once I get my lift and new wheel/tires on.
12. Thanks guys! Going to give it a go next weekend. Getting in the final few items in this week to complete the job. Changing out the springs, cv axles, etc. too while I have everything apart. Looking forward to getting it installed!
13. Ok, so here's my scenario. So I'll start the process of lifting my Pathy next weekend, so I know the height of the tires I'll be running should be no real issue based on the information on here. My question is: With my setup, will I need wheel spacers to run them or will they fit without spacers. I won't receive the wheels for another two weeks, so that's why I'm asking versus checking myself. This way I can determine if I need to go ahead and order the spacers before the wheels arrive if absolutely needed. Wheels: MB Chaos 6, 20"x9", 0 offset, 5" back spacing. Tires: Hankook Dynapro ATM's in 275/55-20(31.9"x10.5) I was sure I read on multiple sites that with a 2" lift, you can run 32's. The back spacing of the wheels I'm getting are comparable to stock, so I pulled the trigger on ordering them. Reading through this thread now has me questioning the fitment, especially with the tire width. No biggie if I need spacers, just would rather not run them if it's possible. Thanks in advance for any input shared. Jeff
14. Mine is my off road weekend pleasure vehicle. Purchased it because I highly enjoyed the one I had years ago, plus the huge praise for it's 4x4 capability. Same as the above post, 03' 4x4 SE loaded with leather, heated seats, DVD player, etc. 140k miles for 4K cash. Has nothing to do with income IMO. Mine is my 4th vehicle and oldest vehicle I own. Plus, as others hinted to above, they just look better. Other than the new 4runners, my favored body style(r50) looks rugged and like a truck, not like a really tall station wagon. Love my R50!
15. New here from NE Georgia. Been checking out the great info on here for a few months now. So glad to see a lot of R50 love on here. Had a 96 4x4 nearly 15 yrs ago, and recently just picked up an 03 4x4 to run the mountain roads here in GA. Glad to be part of the passion again!
16. Hey guys. New here. Just picked up another R50 pathy after a 15yr seperation with a 96 model. This ones an 03' 4x4. I recently ordered a 2" spacer kit with Rancho rs5000 shocks/struts all around. I'll also be changing the front cv axles since one has a ripped boot, plus adding manual hubs. Question for those that have installed these types of list already, is it capable of being completed by one person, or is two mandatory? I've lowered many vehicles in my day when I was showing them, but never lifted one. Any assistance would be greatly appreciative! Thanks. Jeff
