  4. Afternoon Project: Started on the rear bumper this afternoon. Got the main frame of it fabricated and mocked up. Deciding if I will continue with my initial plan to add the sides that will cover where the OEM bumper bends around towards the rear wheel well. Going to install the spare tire carrier directly to the bumper. Hopefully the tire will help cover the gap between the new bumper and receiver! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  5. Here's another option for you, if your open to changing the bumper all together. Goliath bumper for an xj that has bull bar, pre-runner(shown) and even a stinger bar as bolt on options. I have less than $400 into my setup, and fabrication was not too difficult. About a day to draw up the plan and get everything lined up properly. The thing I liked about the goliath bumper in my research other than the price was that its wider, so no fabrication of the actual bumper was needed as others have stated they needed to do with other xj bumpers. If you truly just want to mount a stinger bar to your bumper, it may look good, but as others said it will have no true benefit, and can actually cause more damage if in an accident.   8. Update: Scored a killer price on an xj bumper with pre-runner bar online so bit on it. Spent the day getting it mocked up Wasn't too bad, but did take nearly all day to do some trial and error research. I think it came out pretty good though. Will definately have to have a plate made to protect the radiator as well as reroute or build a cover for the washer fluid and radiator overflow. For the radiator overflow, I may make something for it. Now I just have to take it back off and have it sprayed. Was also planning to change out the front springs too, but time ran out. Project for another day. Next relatively big project is building a custom rear bumper with a swing arm for my spare and jerry can. Thanks for looking Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  9. Can't answer if they sit higher than the 9447, but I got the 9449's due to the increased load capacity. The springs were the exact same overall height as stock springs with the 2.5" spacer, but the truck sits about 1.5" higher installed without the spacer since they don't sag.   10. I have a set of MOOG OEM replacement rear springs if your interested. I had them on for about 6 months, then ordered the Land Rover springs.   11. Just installed a single din yesterday evening. Pretty straight forward. Got everything I needed on eBay for less than $30. Kit, harness (w/bose interface bypass), and antenna harness. No need to rip out all of the speakers and wiring if you get the correct harness. Unless of course you just want different speakers. The system sounds better now than it ever has with the new head unit. Bose is one of the best, but for some reason the head unit in these limited the systems potential. After tweaking with the eq settings, I'm very pleased with sound. I believe they sell double din kits too. Just have to search. May require a little trimming of the original housing though. I went single din since I already had the head unit laying around.
  12. Question on this for the knowledgeable! I've found a LSD rear axle and the current owner is checking on the gearing for me to determine compatibility. My rear axle code is HG43, so 4.363 gearing. My question(s): If the LSD rear end I found is 4.636 gearing, what else would be needed to make it work? From what I read, it's a direct replacement but am unsure of any other things to take into account. Is it that big of a deal to swap it out? I'm currently running 32's. Does this matter? I'm not into hard core off roading so no need to spend the $$$ on a locker but would like the benefit of the LSD when wheeling in the mountains.   13. I am running 20x9 MB Chaos 6's wrapped in 275/55's. Believe they have the same backspacing as what yours will have.2.5"lift. Required some trimming of the front bumper and a small portion of the inner fender well where the mud flaps are currently located. Don't think you would need to do thi s with the 265/50's though. I have a build thread on here with many more pics and close ups of needed cuts. Search 03troutfinder build thread to see if you can find it. It does still rub at times when turning really sharp but nothing unsafe. Probably just need to trim a small amount more since it settled in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
  14. Here's the outcome of my rear spring replacement from the stock springs with 2.5" lift spacer with the 9449 springs. Went with the 9449's due to the load rating.Side by side, they are basically the exact same height as the stock spring with spacer. On the truck however, the new springs give a much increased lift. See pics. No cutting, just direct replacement of original setup. Measured original setup prior to changeover, and the truck was sitting around 34" at the top of the rear wheel well. After install, the truck was sitting close to 37". Jumped on it a bit and took it on a 10+ mile drive, including off-road to settle them in. Final measure was around 36.5" after the drive. We'll see if they settle anymore. Slight rake but not so much that I can't stand it. Actually like it after the drive helping them settle in. Thinking it will be perfect for towing. Ride on these springs was surprisingly great. They handle the bumps great and even though they are much more stiff than stock, the ride is very comfortable. Bumps are felt minimally, much better than with the stock springs/spacer. More like a well tuned sports suspension if that makes sense. Overall, it's only been about an hour but I highly recommend these to anyone looking for a novice lift with improved towing capacity over stock springs.   16. Thanks! Looking a little deeper, I noticed the NRC9449 is the same overall height as the NRC9447 but has the heavier load rating of the NRC9448 at 225. The NRC9447 is 175, still much greater than the Pathy's stock springs. I'm going to order the 9449's and give them a try since I want more load capacity. I will share my findings once I get them on.   17. Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Been looking at different options myself since I use my pathy to tow periodically. I have the same setup you replaced on the rear, and I can't put hardly any weight in the rear without sag. And I replaced the springs with new like u did. Which exact ones did you order. There seem to be several different variation (c8, z8, m8)? I'm assuming the c8 since they are just over $80 with shipping to GA. How long did they take to arrive?
  18. Not sure if this has been discussed on here or not, but I found a good price on an aftermarket wrangler xj/yj front bumper with winch. I was inquiring to see if anyone has installed one of these on an R50? I like the style of the bumper, but unsure on how difficult it would be to build custom mounts, etc. for it to fit on the pathy. Any input or even pics would be greatly appreciative!
  19. Thanks guys.....it's definitely not due to rubbing. I will check out the brakes when I get back into town as well. One thing I did do was put it in reverse and kept the brake pedal pushed. The noise got progressively louder and more consistent. Once I let go of the brake pedal, it stopped and was more intermittent again. Pretty odd. I forgot to add that it does not always do this and SEEMS to do it only when the wheel is turned to some degree.
  20. Hoping someone could help me out on this.......When I put the Pathy in reverse, it makes a slight intermittent grinding noise from the front drivers side. Assuming it's in the area of the suspension. What's been ruled out so far is cv axle & front strut.(both changed). Just had a wheel bearing changed too, but can't remember if it was on the drivers or passenger side, so can't completely rule it out. Anyone have any experience with this problem or have an idea of what it could be. The noise only happens in reverse and does not affect the functionality of the truck in any way other than the noise
  21. I admit not that great, but with my recessed fog lights on it's more than adequate. I plan to eventually upgrade the headlights to something more powerful. This would help greatly. I rarely drive it at night however since it's not my DD.
  22. Put on some Black tail light guards on a few weeks ago. Now we are planning out ideas on a simple design bull bar/brush guard setup with winch mount. If any of you guys have some pics or ideas I'd greatly appreciate them. Thinking of something like this one without the bull bar part on top. Future plans to do a rear bumpr guard too similar to what you see on Jeeps with tow hooks.......Too many ideas, not enough time!
  23. First Welcome! Assuming the OME Shocks are 1.75-2" lift, with the setup plan described, it will have very similar stance as my R50. You can see pics of it on my build thread or Random pic thread. I'm running Rancho RS5000 shocks/struts personally. Some complain about the rigid ride with these, but I honestly haven't noticed too much of a difference. I plan to add 1-1.5" of lift to the back due to rubbing when flexing. This ought to clear the fender just enough with the current offset of the wheels in running. Good luck on your plans!

  25. Thanks! It's a rod tube, used to store my fishing poles. They are manufactured commercially but are very expensive, so I made mine myself. The ends and attachment hardware is made by Reese. They are conduit tube end caps. You can get the kit on ebay. the tube is just 6" PVC that I painted black.
