https://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/09/20/6f76ef94ddae681aa7efeeb106827ff2.jpg
I would like to nominate Slick for TOTM.
Video of the reunion can be found on the NPORA Facebook page. Heartwarming

As I understand she does now have possession of the vehicle again. Trying to figure out how to get a pic posted for it. Any idea how to ? And would that be ok?

If you can't then I nominate Slick for TOTM.

Wish I could be more helpful, a lot easier when you have it in front of you and can actually see what is happening.
There are a lot of good feedback on this post from the other members.
Best of luck.

Esm=electronic service manual. Also called assist.
I could also have overlooked K ohm spec. Not at work right now to double check but I think I did.
As I understand it you can download the manual from NPORA. and verify that spec.
Did you remove the distributor and check that the shaft turns freely? Quick and simple test and you need to eliminate that as a possibility. I've seen a lot of problems with the shaft bearings.
And one last though, pull off the cap and have a friend crank it over to make sure the rotor is turning ( referring to no spark).

I work at the dealer, looked up in the esm while I was at work today.
If you bought one might as well put it in and check if it's helped.

The sensor with the single pin is for the temp gauge on the gauge cluster.

Also ,it's a lot easier to find the problem when it's actually failing.

The two terminal sensor is or the ecm, if it's open it is bad. Double check to be sure. The Esm states that backfire through exhaust can be caused by a failed coolant temp sensor.
Possibly you have two separate problems. Follow the esm and check the power transistor.
If you know anyone else that's close or have a junkyard close you can simply swap it to check.

Check the coolant temp sensor, resistance should be 2.1-2.9 ohms at 68 degrees Fahrenheit, .68-1.0 at 122F and .30-.33 at 176F. Check it with the vehicle hot and failing.
Forget the egr system. That is the least likely to cause what you say is happening.
Did you remove the distributor and check that the shaft turns freely? Any dust or soot should not make it inside, should be sealed.
Forget the knock sensor code, most likely is being set due to the problem your having.
Probably should look closer into the ignition code. Check the power transistor. Follow diagnosis procedure 27 in the Esmond page ec-90

If you're replacing the o2, drive it while you have it out, little easier than disconnecting if it's really rusty. That's what it sounded like, wasn't sure --thanks. It's a rust encrusted mess there. I'm replacing the O2 sensor tomorrow so I'll probably get an eyeful of it. 8>|
thanks
Dave

I personally think you should be looking at the distributor. To start. I would remove the cap, rotor, and inspection cover. If no metal is found I would remove it and check that it will spin without resistance.

Hmmmmm, yeah I guess the AAA card and water aren't technically tools so to speak.

Gotcha, can't seem to ever get on a real computer, not worth the fight with the wife and daughter! There is a poll in this thread. On the actual browser page it's at the top.

Soooooo, how do we vote? I mainly use taptalk so I'm not sure if I'm missing something or like most I just didn't fully read the instructionsnothing wrong with posting, it's just that typically most people vote but do not post and of those that do few ever just post a number selection. Thus the reason I had to ask

I keep a small tool bag, 8,10,12,14,15,16,17,19,21,22mm standard, deep sockets and wrenches. Adjustable wrench, needle nose and regular pliers, channel locks, Alan wrench set, universal screw driver with multiple bits, electrical tape, wire cutters (dykes), solderless electrical connectors, assorted nuts and bolts, loctite, and some other crap.
Also keep jumper cables, rope, a chain, mini air compressor, auxiliary cb radio, letherman multi purpose tool, extra starter relay, cell phone charger, 5 gallon water jug and a AAA card.
Still need to put together a first aid kit and survival kit( MRE'S and survival stuff in case I get sidetracked for a few unanticipated days).

Yep, that's the d-ring. Really common.Mine initially stopped working because of friction in that stupid slot that the belt runs through before coming across your shoulder. If I pulled the belt only from the retract mechanism, it would retract just fine. Solved the problem with some 2000 grit sandpaper running through the belt slot to remove the years of yuk that was built-up

A lot of these belt assembly have been discontinued. I've tried to replace mine on my 90 and no parts available. Even though they are lifetime warranty Nissan does state that the warranty is for the useful life of the vehicle. Basically I was told that my pathfinder exceeded it's useful life. I will say check the d-ring of the belt at the B pillar for built-up smeg, if there is crap built up clean It off and that may help.

#differential.....sorry, cell phone spell check. You sir have definitely gone above and beyond! Thank you! This should be pinned admins. Really good info. Recently learned what a 4 pinion different was, I had no idea. Goes to show that even a seasoned mechanic or gearhead can always learn something new.

I'm a beginner 4wheeler, the second time I took mine out I was with my brother in law that has experience, he pointed me to a hill, told me it will make it so I put on my "brown pants" and went for it. I was dumbfounded that it made it easily. When I tell people, it's like telling a "tall tail" that is actually true! Huge respect for these humble little 4wheelers.Had my first hardcore outting today in the nissan. Im pleased to report it blew everyone away with the trails we made it down. My buddies pipe buggy had a fuel pump fail, so we piled in the nissan and made it down a few level 4 trails and some nasty 3s with huge climbs. Ill retreive pics from my friends tomorrow. Its funny how you dont get pics of your own rig as your busy keeping it together..

Hopefully someone reading this is savy enough to post a link to it.
I certainly have had vehicles that I wish I never got rid of.
