possibly a bad relay. I took mine out an used a jumper so that the power point in the back seat would always have power, even with the key off. So far its working fine.

For the manual trans, there are only two gear choices. IIRC, a 17 and 19 tooth used to compensate for different tire sizes. I have 31X10.5's on my '96 and the speedo is off by about 3 mph @ 60. The stealersip said I had the 19 tooth and there wasnt much else I could do. Might be different with the autotragics tho.

sounds like when you add the other light to your backup lights circuit you are over loading the fuse. You need a relay and another power source. Use the switched leg from your backup light(s) to trigger the relay. Then run a wire from the battery (fused as close to the battery as possible) to the relay and then out to your aux lights. These are mine, cheapies with 100watt bulbs in them, but they fit the holes really well. I also trigger a monitor in my rear view mirror and a backup camera with my revese lights.

broken tranny since Christmas................yeah I'm having withdrawls wonders if -alcohol- might help

Steve (CBI) and I have been working on an ARB style front bumper for my R50 for a couple of months now. Still in design phase, but its been put on hold for a while as the trans in my pathy quit just before christmas. Two days later the boy wrecked the gf's daily driver, so that took priority. As soon as I get my trans fixed its headed for CBI and a new bumper. Will keep you posted.

Yesterday on my daily trip over the Teton Pass, I noticed a Wyoming State Trooper sitting at the weigh station. I called one of my co workers who was about ten minutes behind me to let him know about the nice officer. About 30 mins later he calls me and tells me a story: Seems he was just passing through a little town called Victor and some jerk pulled out of a gas staion right in front of him. He said he almost had to lock the brakes to keep from hitting the other driver. Then the guy wont even do the speed limit. My co worker new that there was an officer about 10 miles ahead so he rode the guys butt pushing him up to about 65 in a 55. Turns out the officer had just pulled out of the weigh station and was heading for the border. Co worker saw him and began to bleed off speed, Jerk kept on goin at 65. Nice officer turned around behind co worker, passed him, and stopped the jerk. I hope he enjoyed his visit with the nice officer. I have used my backup lights as a deterent to tailgaters and those people who dont like to dim their lights as they approach from behind. They just hapen to be be 100 watt driving lights attached to my bumper. I've never had to use them for more than one flash. I am very conscious of when I use them for this purpose as I dont want to flash blind other innocent drivers. I remember one guy in a honda about 6 feet off my bumber at 70mph. Lit up the inside of his car like a christmas tree. He backed right off. I also seldom travel at the speed limit, usually about 10 over, and I hate being tailgated. I'll usually just start bleeding off speed to see how slow I can get the tailgater going, just because I know they are in a hurry. I've had tailgaters down to 40mph in a 65 before they would finally pass (on a four lane road). Only then to have to pass them again because they dont want to drive that fast with no one in front of them. Frustrating.

If you're interested in custom, check out CBI Offroad. I have him working on a wincher bumper for my R50. Something along the lines of an ARB or TJM with integrated skidplate.

When I had mine replaced i took it to a mech. The book says 2hrs each to get (press, dig, burn, cut, mutilate) out the old bushings times 8 bushings. I decided to replace all four links instead. Cost was about $700us, but I had them do the front pinion seal too. I talked to the mech after he had completed the job, he said that he hoped to never have to do that again. he said it was a real pita to get the rear end lined back up to put the links back in. Something about the axle wanted to keep moving forward. I dont know all the details but i'll bet he tried to put the links in without completely removing the rear axle.

Update: EVAP CS purge flow monitor & Knock sensor
snosnk replied to QuismO's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Two are in the exaust manifold, the other two are behind the cats. The bosch O2 sensors work but they are not a direct replacement. They come with a connector (splice?) thats a pita if you dont leave yourself enough wire. It seems to me that the front two are three wire and the back two are four wire. Not absolutely sure though. -
if its an auto trans, make sure its in park, or neutral.

Sounds like the same thing my 96 is doing. Sometimes when i stop, sometimes when i take off. Just one pop. I think it may be related to some worn out front end bushings. It doesnt pull or jerk, just pop. It seems to happen most with loading (brakes) and unloading (accelleration) of the front suspension. It will happen usually with one or the other, but not both in the same stop and go, and not every time. But it does happen often. I did some looking the other day and found the bushings at the rear of the front lower a arm are about shot. Time for replacements, maybe that will fix it.

I used some called tough stuff. Red and yellow can, brush on wipe off. It took out grease, and pepsi stains.

check under you back seat. There should be a tool kit there. It will have the tools to change that pesky #6 plug.

What about wheelin one of these.

Guys, his profile says 99.5. He's got an R50. The crank angle sensor is in the top of the bell housing.

how to work the foglights without headlights
snosnk replied to FUELER's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I like my lights bright, so I set mine up so that I could run the high beams + low beams + fogs all at the same time. I just tapped into wire that feeds the high beam and use it to trigger a pair of relays that send 12v to the low beams. As a side effect, the fogs now work with the high beams or low beams. If you are worried about inspection or the law, you could just switch the trigger wire coming from the high beams. Then everything should work just like normal. -
will stop for pics on my way home tonite. Its located about 2 miles north of rexburg idaho.

This is not the right place for this post, mods feel free to move. should have posted in the 85-89 or for sale forum. I was driving home the other day and saw a 2 door pathy for sale. Its pretty rough but the interior looked pretty good. I noticed a broken rear anti-sway bar, the grill and headlights are out of it (looked like they were in the back), power windows, crusie control, missing some interior door panels, frame has surface rust (i didnt have any tools so i poked at it with my finger) . no title. auto trans. The kicker, $200. If anyone is interested let me know and i'll pick it up, then we can figure how to get it to you. I dont know if it runs, or what shape the drive train is in. I do know the lady that has it and would be will to question her about it, and can also post pics. I only did a two minute walk around it, i didnt pop the hood or open any doors. I'd like to have it for an offroad toy, but the ol'lady says no. if anyone is interested, let me know. Kelly

How many people would buy the 4 1/2" lift?
snosnk replied to tmorgan4's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I've talked with steve a little about just that. I dont think he wants to step on anybodys toes, but would be willing to build these lifts. Just hook me up with some specs with permission to use them and 4 or 5 orders. We also talked a little abot a full kit, all fasteners, fittings and springs (rear ac 2") etc.. included (i wonder if the ome's will work on the front). I've got another set of wheels i can drive, so he can use my pathy for testiing/fitment. -
The tire carrier on mine is a modified nissan piece. We raised the tire (killed the view out the back window, a camera is in the works), added a hi-lift jack (gets in the way of the rear window opening, but i never use it) , and a 5 galllon jerry can bracket. <edit> I just noticed xplorX4 added end caps to the pic posted above. I like that idea. Maybe for a front bumper. Tubing underneath a skin sounds like it would be plenty strong for a winch. but I do like the looks of this. I do think it needs a little more protection on the corners. Another pic with lights installed.
