  1. I, like a lot of you, have rusty rocker panels. I found what might be a cheap repair on YouTube. Expanding foam is used to backfill the area then tiger hair or equivalent is used for the final contouring. My question is, if the rocker is sealed up with foam will it cause drainage problems and start rust in a different area? I plan on coating the inside of the rocker with an internal frame spray to convert the rust and prevent more. I also have rust spots around the rear wheel wells that this might work on. Any feedback will be appreciated.
  2. I saw a YouTube video from a German company called spaccers.com that has strut extensions. I don't think I would use them personally. It seems to me they would allow the suspension to droop to far and bind the cv joints. It would help eliminate top out but that doesn't seem to be as hard on the struts as over extension is on the cv's.
  3. Update on the R50 snorkel. The one I had on my wishlist is no longer available. I did another search and the only thing I came up with is the ARB safari snorkel. So much for a cheap factory made snorkel. I guess I'll see about making an exhaust pipe one and buying a pre-made hood.
  4. I don't have a link but search R50 snorkel,that's how I found it.
  5. I found one on Amazon and on EBay that is supposed to fit. I haven't bought it yet but it's on my wishlist. I think it's under $200. Be prepared to do a lot of cutting and to seal up the air box. Hope this helps.
  6. Great job! I have been thinking about something like that for a while. I thought I would use 1157 bulbs and holders and use the marker light wires for powering one side so I could have marker lights to. Thanks for the thread!
  7. I quoted you twice because I'm a technical caveman. Thanks for the info.
  8. Thanks Steve. I've been on this forum for a long time and I still manage to screw up post. I'm just under 300 miles before the odometer rolls to 300k. I just change the fluids regularly and use synthetics when I can. The R50 is about the perfect vehicle for me.It has a little bit of rust around the rear wheel wells that I plan to fix and maybe I can get another 100k out of it.
  9. Anyone know where to get greaseable ball joints for the R50? Is there such a thing? All the ones I've found don't have a zerk.
  10. I like the black out look. I'm considering doing mine that way to.
  11. The compressed length of the Bilstein is about 1 1/2 inches longer than the compressed length of an OEM replacement. It seems to me that the bump stops would have to be extended anyway. Even with the longer springs, the shock would bottom out before it hit the bump stop unless the spring somehow prevented it. I don't recall other members using a 2"lift having to extend their bump stops. I may have had a senior moment.
  12. I just ordered a set of GR-2 KYB struts and Bilstein shocks for my pathfinder. The shocks are the ones AC uses for their 2" lift. Would it be Ok to run these without the 2" lift springs? My shocks are kaput and I would like to go ahead and install them. I don't have the money for the springs yet but they will come later. If I can't install them now I'll just have to tighten my kidney belt until I get the springs.
  13. If the stock XE 15's are the same size and backspace as the LE's,you are correct.I thought XE's came with the metric equivalent of 31's. Sorry for the misinformation.
  14. They will only make noise under power. I had the same problem with mine. I didn't know I needed CV's until I shifted into 4wd.
  15. With XE and SE trim 31x10.50 is about as big as you can go without a lift.I have an LE and had to go with different wheels to fit 31.10.50's. Hope this helps.
  16. At $800 bucks it sounds like a pretty good deal even with the problems. It definitely needs cv joints or complete axles (rockauto.I've had good luck with Cardone select.).The grinding when shifting into 4 wheel drive is common if you don't do it quickly. The major concern is the noises shifting into drive.Could be a broken mount or something more serious. Its just my opinion but I think I would pull the trigger.
  17. Great video! It gave me an idea for your next project. Limb risers. They are on my to do list. Again, great video and thanks for posting it.
  18. There's enough light in your Pathfinder for Stevie Wonder to read a newspaper!😈
  19. I kinda like it. Reminds me of the Jupiter II on the old "Lost in space" series.😊
  20. I mounted a set of General Grabbers AT2's 31x10.50 last fall and haven't had a chance to get out and 4wheel yet... until last week. We got about 18 inches of snow. I'm really impressed with these tires. Not with just how they can go,but how they can stop. They held great traction under breaking on the ice and snow. I can highly recommend these tires. Now I need to get in the mud, which we will have plenty of after the melt.
  21. Great job! I have something similar in mind for my next project as soon as I'm done with my current one (roof rack/basket with Hi-Lift,pioneer tool and jerry can mounts.). Just need the money and time.
  22. Welcome Josh from Tim in Burnside,KY. That is an R50 series Pathfinder. Do a search in the 96-04 section and you should find what you need. If you want 6 inches of lift you'll have to have a sub frame drop for starters. There's plenty of people here who know more about it in the 96-04 section. Again, welcome.
  23. Welcome to the forum! I think you will find just about everything you need here. If you're ever down around Burnside look me up. I have a 97 so I post in the 96-04 group on occasion. By the way,Old Man Emu offers a great setup.
