Tahuya is fun, I'd like to go again. There are long trails to explore, most of which (at least what we went on) are pretty mild to moderate trails winding through the trees up and down hills, but there are places to play hard as well. Say 1 1/2 hours or so from Seattle, probably about the same if you took the ferry to Bremerton (like we did) or drove down to Tacoma, then out and up Hwy 16. Maybe there could be a local run out there. Hello, Jim, are you out there?! Lead us!

Run from the Rover! The Disco's aren't too special offroad, have some bells and whistles like hill decent and stuff in the newer ones. They can hold their own on many trails and sloppy conditions but they have major downside. You get leather and a pretty nice interior, but you trade that for horrible gas mileage, extreme repair bills, and little for aftermarket. I've got a friend with I think an '01, and they're always having trouble with it, it seems. We went wheeling/camping and they hit a hole a little hard, smacking the bumper. Except, we're not talking about a bumper, but more of a car-like lower air darn. Something like $1000+ for new parts, a NEW RADIATOR, and they were good to go. Mind you, this wasn't any big hole, as I was at stock height at the time and didn't even think about it, and in the rear of the group was a 2 wheel drive mid-80's P.O.S. Ford Ranger absolutely stock with bald tires. Walk away, walk away fast...

Just about any recent sub amp and most 2 channel amps will have an internal crossover. They're sloppy for sure, but get the job done. If you have an old-skool amp with no frequency adjustment, Radio Shack and electronics shops should be able to at least provide you with a cheap choke coil to kill the high frequency signal. In the least, kill the singal above 150hz or so. But a really great investment is a good crossover. Its nice to really dial in your system to your needs and wants.

I think that's a cop-out. There have been plenty of child stars that have grown up to be pretty normal adults. Shirley Temple-Black and Jackie Coogan (Little Rascals)were both in the spotlight and very successful at like five years old and remain in the public eye to this day. Any person his age that has sleep overs involving children staying in his bed has deep psycological issues and should have his contact with children severely restricted if not put under house arrest. Yeah, there are probably a few parents that are trying to extort money from MJ, but wouldn't you think a sane man would modify his behavior to protect himself? Plus we only hear about the incidents that make the news, not the "hush money" deals that most likely happen but are squelched from the media. It's unfortunate that he's had such a "tragic" life, but ultimately he's the one responsible for his actions and should be punished accordingly. Should we allow the pervert at the local park to continue exposing himself to the kids on the merry-go-round if he has some musical talent and dances really well? I think not. $.02 paid. I'll flip you 2 coins on that. Make no mistake, I'm not totally excusing it at all. The dude is warped. Just touching on some stuff along the path that got him to the place he is. The guy didn't have a chance at a normal existence. I bet his parents feel great at this point cause he probably did not get there on his own.

I don't remember off hand, and I'd bet a regular manual (Haynes/Chilton, etc.) wouldn't tell you. A factory service manual probably would though. But on a side note, a couple dollar simple circuit test light would tell you in a few minutes. That or if you can't find it, run your own using a switched power source like the cigarette light to tap into.

Or... buy the KN replacement filter then remove or mod the piping to the airbox.

Sure, I can see him being found guilty. Jail time, who knows, maybe Martha-style. What do you do with the man that was the idol of a lot of our childhood. Despite the wealth and fame, the man has lived one of the toughest existences you could ever imagine. He's been from the bottom to the top, and back again, much of which was before he fully matured to even grasp an understanding of what he was doing and what he was. He's seen the lows and induldged in the highs. He was pulled into the world as a child as opposed to an adult, and I don't think you're gonna come back from that trip fully intact.

Sounds sweet. Where are you at again, somewhere midwest? I wish we had shows here, but nothing much. The occassional muscle car show which is awesome, or the ricers, but nothing for trucks that I've found. But then, half the trucks around here are 50K trailer queens that have never seen dirt. Its pretty sweet that you can rep both the high and low scene though. Many props there.

I do believe somebody left out... a camera! I haven't done the Rubicon, but from what I've heard a decently equiped rig should be able to get through bypassing stuff they can't handle. Don't forget some common sense and a decent assortment of tools and duct tape, and you should be ok for the most part. But that's just common trail sense.

That's a beast for sure. Some spit shine, a quick wrench, and a heavy hand with a sawzall and grinder, and you'd have a sweet trail rig. Regardless, cheap is good. Congrats!

You don't necessarily HAVE to change the pipes, its just it helps with breathing, and if they're old and/or rusty and you're already in there doing work, you might as well take care of it. If you decided to just go with the muffler, I've seen shops advertise Flowmaster mufflers by themselves installed for around $100. Many people have done glasspacks and have liked them. Mr.Jim had one years ago, and I heard it once and it was fine.

Ouch. You're probably gonna be much better off doing it yourself (other than the frame pull obviously, if needed). My crunch last year was pretty much the exact same spot, but way less minor, with just a dent in the front of the surface but no tweak or bulge, and a much less crunched fender. Still, the body shop bill came to over $3K. That was the only time I've ever loved insurance! The parts list given to insurance alone cost twice what one of us would have paid at a bone yard and for online or ebay prices. Sorry to hear about all this, but good luck to getting her back on the road!

Yes you can (its just a muffler), they have several models depending the sound you like (I have a classic 40 series and its great), and just about any exhaust shop can do it. Shop around. You'll probably get a better deal at a smaller independent exhaust shop. If you need all new pipes, they can usually work you a decent deal on doing the whole thing as well.

if you can shake them and they are loose you might as well save yourself some trouble and put in new shafts right off the bat.. no sense doing this job twice... I'll second that, if a CV is bad to where you can grab and generate any movement by hand, its toast and time to replace. Its funny how some shops don't necessarily think so though. Bye the way, my best advice if you have any sort of steering and or front suspension noise is to find a big parking lot after hours, preferably with a friend along for the ride to help diagnose. Then go for it, perfoming high and low speed corners, back and forth steering, etc. until you've sorted it out.

It would be nice if we could make those changes ourself. Jim, are you out there?! My info is about as out-dated as well, but I think its a toughy since its independent from the forum. What MaritimeMan said. Also, keep in mind that they'll often scoff at replacing the tire if it is sidewall damage, as they'll say it is not "normal wear and tear" to have damage there. Don't ask how I know this. Unfortunately, you may be buying a new tire. But check your warranty if you have one and/or paid for one, and good luck!

Lots of people say AC is crap often, but they're the place to go to get a body lift kit for a 4 door. The kit is made by Performance Accessories and is then added to and sold by AC, in which they add the specialty long metric bolts for the rear-most mounts. They're pretty much the only game in town unless you know the measurments for those last bolts, and I'm sorry but mine were a PITA so I'm not up for taking them out. By the way, if you don't know, AC is Automotive Customizers (how they got that name for "specializing" in in Nissan 4x4's is beyond me). Their website is www.4x4parts.com.
