  1. We're on our second week of arctic temperatures here in Ohio and I don't know if that has something to do with it. Forgive me if I am unnecessarily starting a new thread... I don't take my pavement queen off roading... With the back end being light and easy to lose tracking, I drive this thing pretty gentle, especially with our winter conditions. Saturday, more than half way through running errands, when I went to ease to a stop for a red light, I noticed that the whole Pathy was bouncy with braking. I am a gentle braker, I've taken all paved roads the entire time. I don't know if the cold has something to do with it? Feels like the entire Pahty is bouncy and not just the front or back. Has anyone ever experienced this? How do all 4 shocks./ struts fail at once? Any ideas answers will be greatly appreciated! If anything requires me crawling underneath it or around it, keep in mind it was -1º for a while today so I have little motivation to be outside! hahah Thanks everyone!!!!
  2. Yup, the bigger one. I was trying to figure out the actual name for it before I posted on here, but a website called the dustcovers bump stops. Truck doesn't bump at all, quite a smooth ride. Such a huge difference from my WD21 :}~ I found a small crack in the CV boot dust cover -and that has a Nissan symbol, so most of what's on this truck could be original -I've only owned the R50 since December. Thanks again! You've been extremely helpful!!!
  3. Darn, didn't want to have to worry about metal on metal. I just see this "rubber" coil covering the shock/ strut that is broken or cracked. BTW this is for a R50, I know the picture shows my other baby. Maybe I should had specified that so I don't confuse? Thank you for your help!
  4. This is kind of similar subject, based on title and trying to avoid an unnecessary new thread: I have noticed on my front, the bump stop are cracked, on the driver side, it's in two pieces. Pathy still drives smoothly like a true pavement queen. Should I be concerned with replacing them any time soon? I live in winter snowy climate and not sure if I could manage the replacement on my own, even if I could have all the tools on on hand. Thanks for your time!
  5. I bought the 25' one because my luck, 10' wouldn't be enough due to the facotry's way of trimming it or mine. Now I am afraid to measure what's left!
  6. This was the one that I ended up purchasing https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NLQ1T6O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (the price has increased since I purchased) And now I am waiting for the next rain to see if it works as great as it looks! It definitely was the seal, it was quite wet in on corner once I lifted off the old weather strip.
  7. If that's what ABS is suppose to feel like, it feels like I'm on a rough ride when mine engages -if that is the culprit! Thank you so much for all your time and help Citron! I'll be back as soon as I have more info.
  8. I appreciate your input. I also was pondering if it's nothing at all, if it's just the ABS doing it's thing. I tried doing a hard brake and everything was smooth. I guess it was hard to mimic without a wanker of a driver to react to! I didn't try threshold braking, but just truly pondering if I am wasting people's time and it's just the ABS doing it's thing?
  9. Everything else looks fine. Only wear I saw was a small crack on the CV boot, and I am guessing that's original to the Pathy. On my way to work tomorrow, it will be before sun rise, so less traffic, I will try to remember to roll the the window down and mute the radio just before I brake. Back when there was snow on the ground, where I was living, I didn't want to do an oil change, so I took it to Midas, and they thought everything was in great condition (y'know how places like that try and look for problems to make an extra sale or two). I really appreciate your help and time!!! Maybe tomorrow I shall have better information.
  10. Driving home, it just feels like I am on a poorly maintained road once I brake, but it just feels that way in the front. Maybe it's all in my head? Ohio's road aren't the best.
  11. Dang, thought it had registered my response earlier. Yes, the one that rest under the glass of the lift gate.
  12. No noises with the rough road feeling, I suppose with the way it feels when I brake, it feels like all 4 tyres are on a bumpy road. My friend did look at the inside pad, but he didn't take them off the rotor and actually look at them, he just eyed them. In regards to the nasty noise, when I had picked up my friend to bring him to my place, there was a point where I was braking and he thought it was metal on metal but that idea completely dissolved once we had the tyre off and actually where able to look. I didnt think the noise was that bad, and it's inconsistent with that "squeal" I mention earlier. Or perhaps like a squeek with the right front brake. We didn't look at anything inthe rear for all the attention grabbing is coming from the front.
  13. I'm kind of having similar inquiry: Past two weeks, seems like when I brake a little rougher (bad driver cutting me off, suddent light change, etc) it feels like I am suddenly on a bumpier road. There has been a squeal off and on with the front right -but mainly when there's moisture out like rain. A friend who's done brakes before, had a look at my rotors and brakes on Sunday, he didn't think the pads needed to be replaced or the rotors needed anything done to them. Any idea? I have only owned this R50 since December, bought it from a dealriship that specialises in one vehicle owner vehicles; I've felt like a Queen driving it.
  14. I know my weatherstrip needs to replaced -I used to haul all sorts, beating up the weather strip. The Nissan part # is 90310-41G16 but I sure don't like the price! http://www.nissanpartswebstore.com/p/Nissan__/Glass-wstrip/54400721/9031041G16.html Anyone know if I can get away with using from another Pathy year (I also have an 02) http://www.ebay.com/itm/NISSAN-OEM-05-12-Pathfinder-Lift-Gate-Weatherstrip-Seal-90310EA50A/201907752205?_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D44732%26meid%3D9d6c21afeb9b4bb7b8dd11abc86ecca3%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D322545043553 or if you think this may work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/20ft-05-Rubber-Door-Edge-Seal-Trim-Strip-All-Weather-Protect-For-Chevy-Camaro/132066306464?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 If money wasn't an issue, I'd go with the Nissan straight up! As they say on Game of Thrones, winter is coming! I want to resolve this leak real soon.
  15. I stopped by an independent shop today, and they are going to bypass the amps and replace the speakers for $315 on Saturday. The speakers still function, but due to the age, I have no doubt the Best Buy guy was right about them only having a few years life in them. All your guidance has been a tremendous help! The info of being told of the price I should be expecting made a huge difference as well, thanks again!!!
  16. That's what I was wondering. Thanks for your guidence!!!!
  17. Thank you all so very much for your extremely helpful info! I had looked at amps on Ebay, but if mine failed after 15 years, I'm hesitant to buy one that is just as old, spent $35 and it fails in a few months. Thanks, I was pondering about taking it to another audio place. You guys are amazing!!!
  18. I am also seeking Pathy amp info on my 02 or whatever you guys suggest. Turned on my truck to run errands, aftermarket stereo works, behaves like it works, but there's no audio. I return to Best Buy and BB spent over 3 hours testing the speakers, taking panels off, etc, He stated he even checked fuses first. Last thing he did was pull the stereo out and wire in test speakers. There's audio from the test speakers. BB guy thinks it's the amps, but he says only Nissan will be able to say which one or all of them. BB is quoting me over $800 to replace everything, because he says with the way Bose is, they can't bypass, they can only replace everything, including wiring, amp, etc. If you think it's the amps? Do they even sell replacement amps that aren't 15 years old (I don't want to spend money and then it die in a few months due to age). Is Best Buy full of bull poop? IS there an easier and hopefully cheaper solution? I don't want to do any wiring myself, I don't have the guts or brains for that. I can do ball joints, swap out starters, but wiring? No thanks! Thank you so much in advance, and I shall apologise in advance if it takes me a few days to get back to you.
  19. Sorry I forgot to get back to you on this and then I had to hunt down the thread... It's random when the light will light up the odometer. No, this is in my 02 Pathy. I still own the 95 & proud of it and didn't see a place to list both vehicles in my profile so you awesome helpers could figure out which one I am speaking off. I am guessing the bulb isn't always connecting? I have a remote start, and sometimes when I enter my Pathy, the odometer lights are on, and then when I put the key in blah blah blah to get driving, then the light will stop working. And sometimes, it's just the opposite. It will start with it off and stay off for miles and miles and then just suddenly come on.
  20. A couple of days ago, just the lighting for the odometer doesn't always illuminate. Just the odometer, which is seen just fine during the day. Do you think this is the start of the dash board lights beginning to go dark or do you guys have another idea? I have not checked the fuse. Just odd that just that little area is effected. Thanks so much for your ideas!!!
  21. You're spot on about the engine swap should be done! Alright, more plotting and time to make tht all happen.
  22. Thank you, you have all gave me an attack plan. But first things first. Just moved to Ohio nearly 4 weeks ago, got hired at a job today, and so I've got to work on getting it shipped here next.
  23. To answer RCWD21 abou the ticking: ticking not so bad if enough oil is kept in it. Most of the time it will only tick for a few minutes, but I can tell when the oil is low because the ticking won't go away. It's got a Nissan starter, 3 years old. I really appreciate your opinions and yes, it sounds like a great project to involve my son in. The frame is in great shape, little rust from the 2 years it was in Ohio. The pick a parts in vegas, now it's extremely challenging to find spare parts for it. If I am lucky, they have one, and it's already been scavanged by the time I visit. Again thanks, you've all been extremely helpful!
  24. As some of you know, I bought this Pathy in 1999 with 60k miles. It is now closer to 293k and I just bought a 02 in December. 95 Pathy has issues: ticking oil leak from area behind water pump the wire to the oil sensor was unintentionally yanked out about 2 years ago, and after not being able to figure out how to put it back on, I just made sure it wouldn't snag anything doesn't always start (strong belief it has to do with the sidepost battery, for when that's when the issue started) Engine codes it throws are 32 and 34 -emission related, but will still pass smog power steering leak I believe rear differential leak (just started last month) It is currently located in Vegas and I am in Ohio (moved. It feels wrong to scrap it, and I had originally daydream of rebuilding it..until I started driving the 02 and felt the huge difference in the two. So I ponder selling it, I know I won't get much for it, but it's been a loyal friend for 17 years. My son has expressed driving it when he's old enough, but I have a hard time letting someone else drive my trusted friend as long as I own it. Your thoughts?
  25. I love the manual. My previous Pathy is a 95 that I bought in 99 and just semi retired it last month when I bought the 02. Both are manual and I was so determined to buy another with a manual that I flew to Washington state to buy it and drove it back to Nevada. I feel you are more in touch with your vehicle because of the stick and the two of you having to work as a team. And driving the two are night and day, but I know the manual has other perks, like few people know how to drive them these days, so less likely to be stolen.
