Oh man, I didn't think these bolts would be such a pain to put back in - I was wrestling with getting the dern things back in for at least an hour and still don't have both bolts back in yet. Argh!

How do you tell the difference between the two fans, if they are already out of the car?

Thanks for the feedback - looks like I will go with the 31x10.5s to be safe.

So my 87 I4 2 Door Pathfinder came with 30x9.50R15 tires mounted on 15x9.5" wheels. I thought that was an odd size to have on my Pathfinder, but there didn't seem to be any problems, except for wear. So I went to the local Big-O-Tires to get some new 30x9.50R15 tires, and the mechanic says that the 30x9.5 tires shouldn't fit on my 9.5" wheels, and should at most go on an 8" wide wheel. Obviously, I've got those size tires on my wheels, and they hold air fine, so Is this guy full of crap, or what? In any case should I stick to the 30 tires or go with a 31 size tire?

Just a note: I never did like the location of the starter on the V6, as it sits just below the oil filter - I always make it a point to cover up the starter with an old plastic bag when I change the oil filter so that the old oil doesn't spill all over the starter

One thing that could help spot where the leak is coming from is that florescent oil dye that shows up with a black light. You add it to your oil, run the engine, and use the black light to spot where the leak is coming from. Usually works well.

Another thing to check is the oil pressure sensor - thats where mine was anyway.

Squires Turbo Systems has a universal kit that you might be able to work with: http://www.ststurbo.com/universal_system The main problem I would worry about is all that dirt getting onto/into the filter from down below - of course that's not much of an issue with a Vette that doesn't go offroad

Both of my brake lights on my 87 are out. I checked the fuse and its still good - any other place to check? My next thought is to the switch on the brake pedal, but want to see if there are other things to look for. Thanks!

Better than the stock location and getting oil all over the starter, though Plus it looks like there is some room to put a pie-pan under to catch the oil while changing.

I noticed my PS fluid was leaking pretty badly and noticed there was a bit of a gap between the bottom of the steering box and the pitman arm: Is that normal to have that much of a gap? Either way, I guess I'll be looking for a replacement - are all the V6 WD21 steering boxes the same - for example, will a '95 fit on my '87?

AWESOME! The pick-and-pull near me only has ancient fords and chevys

Best Places To Put Jackstands/jack Up Vehicle?
DryBear replied to DryBear's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
I just use ramps j/k I actually found what I was looking for: -
What are the best places to put jackstands on an 87 Pathy? Also, the manual isn't quite clear (at least for me) on where to jack up the car. Its safe to jack up from the rear axle, yes? What about from the front?

You could get one from here: http://www.scantool.net/

Unfortunately, none of the JY near my area have don't have anything but very very late model Fords and Chevys. Thanks for the replies.

My switch to open the rear glass hatch fell apart - can I just replace this with a regular momentary switch?

Well my original mast antenna is broken off, and I am trying a Metra amplified "hidden" antenna, and wonder if that is part of the problem (similar to this one:) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-ALnaeOQVVja/c...;search=antenna Someone at another forum mentioned that maybe the radio is pulling more power than the stock wiring can handle, and to replace/upgrade that wiring. I was hoping to avoid doing any rewiring but it looks like I'm stuck with it
-
Well the radio is in, but am experiencing some other problems - on AM radio there is a lot of crackling sounds which gets more frequent with higher volume. On FM radio, the sound is fine, but after around 3-5 minutes the sound will just fade to nothing. And when playing a CD, with lots of bass, the sound will cut off completely. Turning the radio off and on again only temporarily fixes the issues. I know its not the head unit as I get the same results from two different units. I also have replaced the door speakers with some low end Pioneer speakers. What could the problem be? Grounding issue? Perhaps the stock speaker wires?
-
I am the second owner of my Pathfinder, and decided to switch out my old stock radio: I don't have any rear speakers, and apparently, no amp either. The Metra harness I bought only fits onto the bigger one for the front speakers, and power, etc. but the other half that has the rear speakers and amp power wire doesn't connect to anything. The unused part of the Metra harness: The harnesses on the Pathy: The blue connector above originally connected to the blue plug on the stock radio (as can be seen on the top left side), and I'm guessing was just to power illumination of the radio face. There is nothing underneath the radio area - where would the stock amp reside if I had one? Also, the Metra harness has an orange wire, as well as an orange and white wire for illumination - which would I use?
