P1140 code and engine ticking. HELP PLEASE!
Quaintbucket replied to mcbooth's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
That's not the knock sensor. That's something else completely different. I would change your oil and oil filter then clear the codes before you replace any parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm in BC, Canada sadly but thank you! Sounds perfect to me. I just want to make sure my rails don't crush itself or send the rack flying off the pathy. I am going to assume 150-200lb max safely which is more than enough for the gears I have in mind. As soon as you posted that, I was like, "oh yeah! I remember that before!" So I looked for it. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1207452 Boom. I'm going to look at what bushnut did as well and see which one works better. I think stioc's will definitely be much more cheaper. Got my answer, thank you all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was thinking along the same thing as you did. I took it off and looked inside to see if there was a way to the head and replace it with a new bolt. Nothing. I'm thinking of getting this and buying some piping (hollow or solid, I don't know yet) for the cargo rack on top. It's not exactly what I had envisioned in mind but... I'll have to see.

Do you have a picture? I can see it working for roof lights but not sure how it will hold up under weight with a roof rack.
-
On a side note, if anyone got an crossbar or two on their pathfinder they would like to get rid of locally, let me know!

I'm looking to put a basket rack on the roof and don't really want to spend $400 on feet for the inverted T factory track on top of my pathfinder. My craigslist search has been extremely fruitless as well. I was humming and hawing over it and thought of a possible solution but I am not sure if it will work. This was kind of inspired by my tie down points. I was thinking of using the existing tie down point or grabbing some thin steel of metal with holes drilled and tapped into the T then adding a long high grade steel bolt into the piece with washers and rubber to cushion it and increase the height as well. Should not cost me more than $20 overall for the parts and would add 6-8 mounting points (3-4 on both sides). It's hard for me to explain so I will show it through a picture. So basically: Bolt -> metal washer -> roof rack -> metal washer -> rubber -> mount point in T My concern is, would that even work? I know I would have to elevate it a little more due to the curve on the roof but what about weight capacity and distribution? I tried to find out the load capacity of the factory tracks in the FSM but nothing. If you think this is a bad idea, tell me so and I won't be upset. Just thinking of a possibility. I still have one of the factory cross bar, I would just have to find another one... just not a lot of luck in that department either.

What did you do to your Pathfinder today?
Quaintbucket replied to RedRider3141's topic in The Garage
What's with Pathfinder owners owning a jetta on the side too (I have one, but MKV) Replaced the speakers in my pathfinder yesterday with new speakers. Here are the old speakers. It'll buff out and be like new... lol Checked my wheels to see if there's any play. Got a lot of play on the driver side when I shake it at 9 and 3 oclock position... looks like my tie rod ends need to be replaced. Need to find someone who got a tie rod end tool I can borrow because I'm just gonna replace both inner and outer on both side. If anyone is local in BC and got one... PM me? I'll buy you a coffee. -

Looks sick, where did you get your bumper from? -
I was confused what you meant by that, thorpe until I looked at my pathfinder and CDN_24's picture. You MIGHT be able to but I think you will need to pop the entire plastic assembly out to see for yourself to make sure nothing gets in the way of the wires. I guess you could do a basic small zapstraps on the top of the inside of the casing to fix that problem. Might be a feasible swap. I will have to look at that because I am still trying to figure out where to put my CB radio and do not want to take out the single box (i have the single din deck) where I keep my rounds and whatever I need on hand right away. By the way CDN_24, is that a garmin etrex on your automatic shifter? If so, nice choice. I got one and love it but where did you get the band for it? would love to have something like that for my treks. Nissan_Boston, for the cobra microphone, you can get away with a velcro strap that sticks to the trim if you don't want to drill any holes through it. I wouldn't use screws personally just in case if I ripped the microphone off with pieces of the trims haha...

Ah, thank you for sharing. You can edit your posts but it's on a timer, I believe. -
New 2001 Pathfinder, Need Some Advice
Quaintbucket replied to fwizzle's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
That's why I'm confused. I could not remember the part # for the 96-04 and was surprised to see it unlisted. If 435 is definitely for the r50, then I'm picking one up instead of the warns due to cost. -

x infinity. A lot of this work can be done by a backyard mechanic. I would suggest finding a different independent mechanic because he's not being reasonable and doesn't sound knowledgeable either. -

Mile Marker don't make locking hubs for r50s anymore. Warn and Rugged Ridge are the only options now. There's another brand but I forgot the name. -
picks of newer oem wheels on an r50 pathfinder?
Quaintbucket replied to Jacksonbase's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Toyota rim will work but their center bore is bigger by 8mm. This is fine if you can pick up hub centric rings but I don't like doing that because there is a risk for failure the more parts you introduce. Without hub centric rings, your rims will be lug centric which is just as worse if you do offroading -

The clearance between the strut and the tire looks really close for comfort. Wouldn't that lead to issues? Looks really good though. Makes me want to get 31" tires for my path, too bad I'm not comfortable mounting it on my 6.5" stock rims -
Wow, that looks perfect. I will have to do that once I get the lights. Would definitely help out for going to camp late at night. How do you minimize the draw on the battery? Or are you planning on running dual batteries?

Man, I was thinking that, "wow I found a complete roof rack for $50" then you have to go and top it with a parts xterra with fully loaded stuff. You are now obligated to keep us up to date on your pathfinder build.

http://www.4wheelparts.com/ Have you tried these guys? I haven't used them but it might help you.
-
You can thanks Fiat for the Cherokee redesign. Looks like a nice family vehicle. Definitely would not take this offroad unless offroading means a gravel driveway.

I remember a story that happened to a friend... They had just bought a car, a Honda Civic. Signed the paperwork and everything, brand new off the truck. The dealer went out to get it and bring to the front of the building for them. That was the plan at least. He ended up having a seizure during the drive and smashed the civic into 2-3 cars, destroying the axle and completely totalling the car. Needless to say, they walked away from that deal........ I didn't agree. I think they should have used that opportunity to get another Civic and get some sweet deals on top of it. The dealer was OK btw.
