  1. ok, I'll take a look in the morning after I make a trip to the hardware store. Some of the bolts have seen better days.
  2. Does anybody have a pic or diagram of how the oem trailer hitch attaches to the frame on a WD21? I just bought a used one off CL but I don't know how to put it on. Thanks
  3. My used master switch came in the mail today. Now all 4 windows go up AND down. $24 shipped from ebay. Beats going to the jy to get it myself.
  4. iirc the door lock timer doesn't have any moving parts so the noise you hear from the back may be the hatch lock. Also, the solder connections may look ok but be hiding a small crack so its best just to resolder them. I know mine all loooked fine but it wasn't working properly. After resoldering it works perfect. You can just touch your soldering iron to the existing solder until it melts and then remove the iron, or apply more solder to the joint if needed.
  5. I tried to clean and fix an intermittent problem with the switch on the drivers armrest that controls the front ps window. Ended up breaking the whole thing, little parts went everywhere. Ordered a used one off ebay.
  6. one of these bad larrys I know, Iknow, I watch too many car shows on TV
  7. I bypassed the amp for the rear speakers by jumpering the pins on the connector. I did this for the front speakers about 2 months ago. My Kenwood HU has plenty power to drive all 8 speakers without the OEM amps. Sounds good enough for me Also washed it and took a close look at the paint. I'm going to buy a MOP and give it a try. I'll post pics later.
  8. found my gas tank leak. loose clamp on the overflow hose. didn't even need to drop the tank.
  9. cleaned the Maf. Tried to hunt down a fuel leak around the tank. I pulled the access cover and it's not coming from the area around the fuel pump. But I can see where the fuel has left stains down the sides of the tank like it coming from up top somewhere. Guess I'm going to have to get one of those cool video inspection scopes and snake it around the top of the tank. Last resort I guess I could drop the tank but rather not.
  10. the aircon drain hose was plugged. removed it and blew out the blockage. no more aircon peeing on my carpet
  11. I gave my front speaker amp an octuple bypass Duct tape is your friend
  12. replaced the MC, replaced the center rear flex brake line, bled brakes, flushed and filled and bled clutch mc. I love the smell of fresh DOT3
  13. Well, I didn't want to do it but I ended up having to use vice grips. They were really tight, either seized or installed too tight.
  14. Agreed. I have a couple different brands of wrenches probably made in China. The flare wrenches were brand new Craftsmen, tried them out in the parking lot at Sears.
  15. I'm trying to replace the mc and I'm having trouble getting the hard lines disconnected. I tried a 10mm open end wrench and it was a little sloppy and just rounded over the corners. 9mm is too small, 3/8" also too small. So I went and bought a flare nut wrench. Same thing 10mm too sloppy, 9mm and 3/8" too small. What gives? How did you guys do it?
  16. wow, lots of replies. Thanks guys!
  17. Because mine definately is. All the diagrams I've seen in the fsm look like this link is straight. this is the ps rear lower link. thanks
  18. Replaced the strut rod bushings. Old bushings weren't bad but not good either. With no maint history from PO I'm just going through my checklist plus the problem areas I've learned about by reading these forums. Next job, replace leaky MC and rear brake hose.
  19. Thanks for the OP and the pics of the tear down. I too have this same issue.
  20. Noticed my brakes getting a little spongy so looked at MC and noticed its oily. Seems to be coming from a small hole on the side between the brake lines. Is that a weep hole? Never saw one on a MC before. Anyway, the resevoir looked full, or so I thought. When I pulled the cap off it was more than half empty! What I was seeing on the res was the dirty residue stuck to the inside of the plastic. Cleaned out the res and refilled with the DOT3. That dirty res made me wonder about the clutch MC. It too was dirty but not low. Cleaned and refilled for good measure. Guess I'm gonna be replacing the MC soon.

    salt spray

I'm taking the pathfinder to the beach for a few days. Plan on driving on the beach and also will be parked near the beach. Is there anything I can do before I go to defend against the corrosive effects of the salt spray on engine or electrical systems? Is this even an issue?
  22. Last year for inspection I had to deal with emissions problems. Mine was both HC and NO too high. Changing out the H2O temp sensor, new plugs wires and cap & rotor, and new O2 sensor helped the HC numbers. But I had to put a new cat on before it would pass. I didn't have a maint history from PO so I just replaced what I could starting with cheapest part. The guys at the emissions inspection station were cool about it, tested 3 times before I resigned to buying new cat. Then it passed.
  23. new tires. Goodyear Wrangler 235-75-15. $89 ea includes mount and balance.
