  1. I'm in ... I missed out last year... does that mean I get double the presents? -Mike
  2. I have a feeling Pezzy will use this against you for years to come Yeah well checking my breaking system really never was something I thought of... but now I will... I don't like the idea of my breaks giving out. -Mike
  3. I always end up turning the wrong way and then It takes forever to get it back.... that or live with the fact that my clock is off a minute. -Mike
  4. Yeah the cop made me mad... I have had lots of friends who are cops, and I understand that he could have been on patrol for 10 hours and their job is often stressful. But come on, they also are supposed to be taught to calm people down and help out in stressful situations, not make them worse. So the next question is: Should people get their breaking systems checked out every once and a while? I mean I replace my own break pads, add fluid if ever needed and bleed them when needed. But I have never thought of checking out all the lines and stuff. Or is it just so rare that it doesn't matter? -Mike
  5. Tell me about it, when you lose pressure in the system you lose pressure... And she really wasn't following to close, if she would have had breaks she would have stopped. Yeah same here about the people... That could have been a lot worse. -Mike
  6. Hey guys, So yesterday I am in a suburban with 5 other guys on my way to a Halloween party, 2 girls were also going with us but they were following in their own car (a geo tracker). It's just after rush hour and we are going north on I-5 and just after merging from the express lanes back to the normal i-5 traffic bottle necks, we had to break pretty hard to slow down.. but no screeching of breaks or any thing. Then seconds later WHAM, the girls who were following us whacked into the back of us (really didn't move the suburban that much) but with their rubber bumper I could see them bounce back pretty good. After we got off on an exit to make sure every one was okay, at that point the girls said they had no breaks... at first I doubted it, but they were right... one of the break lines on the drivers side had a big ol' hole in it, I had her pump her breaks a few times and the reservoir went glug glug (it was already passed the minimum point of fluid) and drained out the hole. So then the cop comes and was a real jerk... He said "You were following to close, you need to be 3 car lengths behinde them.. I could site you for reckless driving" (to the already crying and shaken girl) "I don't care if your breaks went out you still should have been able to stop in time by pumping them" So here is the funny part... since the Geo was so short it just hit the hitch and part of the bumper on the Suburban, both cars suffered almost no damage. No major injuries.. my neck is crazy stiff today from the whiplash. I just thought it was pretty crazy for breaks to fail like that... -Mike
  7. I am 20 and even I don't know what he is talking about. My best guess is that he is saying this (warning adult language) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=B.A.M.F. with an EST on the end. As in the word cool-est (note the EST). I am not sure this is proper use of this Acronym, actually I am not sure any use of this acronym is proper To each his own... -Mike P.S. Welcome to NPORA!
  8. My 1995 pathy all the sudden started loosing power. With considerable throttle lag when starting out from a stoplight. How do I check the Cat to see if it is clogged? I mean how can I tell? just unbolt it and look in it? -Mike
  9. Wow I had no idea my mirrors were heated until I read this No more rolling down the windows in the freezing cold to de-ice them... just a push of the defrost button. Now having had my pathy for 2 years, I almost feel cheated that I didn't notice this. -Mike
  10. Doh! ... I actually know a few people that work at the port... good to know for next time. -Mike
  11. That's good to know... Now I just need to take them for a little test run (just as the passes are about to get snowed in .. -Mike
  12. Yeah we tried a new battery. Suppose we probably should have the charging system checked out.. -Mike
  13. Hey guys, I know this isn't a pathfinder question... but since we are talking about a relative of the pathy So my Dads hardbody (his work truck) has been through 3 alternators in the past year. The first alt gave out not long after he had it, he replaced it with a rebuilt one from shucks. Then that one just recently burnt out, since he had a lifetime warranty he traded it in for another rebuild... Just last week that one went out, he went down to shucks and made them give him his money back, took that money and bought a brand new one at napa. Now today the napa went bad. Could it be that his truck is burning them out? Any suggestions on what to check for? We are both stumped, checked the ground wires and everything. After talking to our neighbor who used to be a nissan mech. He said that if they gave him alternators that were made for a hardbody with out A/C that's what could have burnt them out. Any help would be appreciated. -Mike
  14. Actually it's funny you mentioned that, my fan shroud did the same thing last week. Melted my fan shroud, probably ruined my belts. But that's not what is causing my noise. As for an update, the noise seems to be getting worse. And now my pathfinder seems to be loosing power, when I step on the gas it lags for a few sec then kicks in. This happens about half the time. Unfortunately I have no time to work on my pathfinder now that I am in school. I can do minor things on the weekends, but during the week time=0 Next I am going to check all my vacuum hoses for leaks to see if thats whats causing my throttle lag. And I am going to try and flush the engine with an engine cleaner and do yet another oil change this weekend. -Mike
  15. Could be... maybe that's why my car is running so rough I thought it was just a little condensing moisture collector tube... thingy... can't think of name right now... -Mike
  16. I just get the big ol' box of cheap stuff at costco. I believe it's shell brand. They also sell mobile 1 at costco, might try that next time If I am feeling spendy -Mike
  17. I just got done doing my plugs for the first time this Summer. First off, do you have the tool that the pathfinder came with? should be under the seat in a black bag. If you do, just take your hand follow the plug wire down, (so you can get a sense of how the plug is angled) take the longer of the 2 sockets and slide it down there. There is a cut out in the ridge in the Firewall just so you can fit that tool down there. I seem to remember that you can see the 6th spark plug if you look between the intake pipes with a flashlight, kind of at a downward angle. If you don't have the tool.... uhhh... get a really long socket extender and do the same thing. The nice part about the tool is, it kind of guides it self down there. Be sure to blow out the spark plug holes really well, before you start. Oh and when you change the 6th spark plug, be careful not to take off the rubber tube that is on the back of the air intake. It is a moisture drainage tube. Mine crumbled all to pieces when I did it. -Mike
  18. Yeah actually I just saw one of my tires for sale on the craigslist brand new for $75, I was thinking of purchasing that one and using it in my rotation. -Mike
  19. just 4.... why should I have paid for 5 for that price The full sized spare that came with my car has never been used.... Actually I have never taken the cover off to check what brand it is. I think they came out to 140-ish ea then tax on top of that. They were 151 at costco... -Mike
  20. Found some on ebay... He says he ships internationally, but I would ask first. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissan-Path...emZ150165310737
  21. So, I went down to Discount Tire today to buy some BFG AT's. The tires I bought the car with are almost bald in the back, it gets nice a slidey in the rain. So I ask how much they are, the guy says $730 with tax and their little tire warranty. So I say wow thats pretty expensive, so he tries to get me to buy these General AT's for $630 after tax and their warranty. I wasn't really interested in buying General tires.. So then I told the guy that costco is having a $60 cupon on the BFG tires, so he says he can give me that discount. So I said okay sounds good... then he went to check if the tire was in stock, it wasn't... but they had them in stock in a different town. He said he would give me another $10 off for gas money. So then I said "well I will call my brother and see what he thinks of the general tires" my bro said "stick with the bfg's or the toyos" so I tell the guy I am going over to les schwab to check out the toyos. Then he says "wait what if I give you the warranty for free". I ended up after tax, install and their stupid warranty paying only $620 Any way I will post some pictures monday on what they look like. I just found it amusing that the price went from $730 to $620 with very little hemming and hawing, and had to share you guys.. -Mike **edit*** Picture:
  22. Yeah I have used seafoam quite a few times before. Maybe I should just seafoam the engine and change the oil a few times and see if I can get rid of it. I am headed to costco right now to buy a case of oil.. -Mike
  23. Yeah well he is going to do some work on my bro's tranny... so I might drive mine up and have him listen to it when I get there. If the ticking is still there by then. I changed the oil again... and put on a new filter. I will get some engine cleaner stuff and throw it in this week and then change the oil once more. See if it helps. And remember it only has 111K on it.... So there shouldn't be any thing to major wrong with it. Unless I messed something up when I did the timing belt last year, but from what I can remember I got the noise before that. -Mike
  24. Well I mean it was just done in august. And I paid to have all the studs replaced, so I would assume that they were. 5523Pathfinder is the one who did the work -Mike
