  4. Yeah I am kind of wondering if that is whats currently wrong with my pathfinder, I think the plate may be off to begin with... But thanks for the advice.. -Mike
  5. Good idea, .. I was considering taking off 2 but then I thought 3.... then I read your post and now it all makes sense! Actually I was looking for more help full suggestions like " Don't drop a bolt down the air intake " ... -Mike
  6. Hi guys, As some of you may know I am have been having trouble with my throttle body sticking even after several cleanings... I have also started to notice that the gas pedal seems heavy and some what jumpy. I have narrowed it down to the throttle body possibly the butterfly plate is rubbing, sticking or it could be the springs. This weekend I am going to attempt to take off the throttle body and possible soak it in something ( in case this is still due to some kind of debris ). Also if I am going to soak it in something, should I remove the sensor on the throttle body? Any suggestions on how to take it off (or how not to) and what to soak it in (or what not to), would be much appreciated. Thanks in advanced, -Mike
  7. I would say go with the 95 if they both have no frame rust or major things wrong with them. The newer dash updates the look quite a bit. I bought my 95 SE with 100k on it for $2600 (about 3 months ago).. With a mint interior but missing a/c and rear bumper bent and one body dent (had been in a minor wreck). So the price sounds right for the 95. Also the white color is a bonus, I would much rather have white over my sparkely red I am not sure where you live but over here in Seattle that 95 (if in good condition) would be going for closer to 5k. -Mike
  8. Well I am not sure if the R50 (body style) is the same... but on my 1995 (WD21 body style) to remove the moon roof you push in on the 2 buttons on either side of the latch ( on the inside of the car), while holding the buttons down pull on the latch and it should detach from the vehicle. Then push the window up till it is vertical and slide it to the (me thinks passenger side) to undo the hinges. hope that's not to confusing I will upload some pics when I get my pathy home. -Mike p.s. lots of fun to take for a cruise with the moon roof off during a nice day..

  10. Run it's the Po! Yeah mr.p whats ur problem? I am afraid it was my "Don't fall into their lies." line that got it off topic I will stop posting now.. Hopefully I haven't upset you enough to receive the wrath of your cat-O-nine-tails. -Mike
  11. *getting off topic somewhat * Your right, I shouldn't be harshing dells name that much... I own a dell latitude laptop that has been running for about 10 years now with hardly any problems. But as of late I have been very un-impressed with the quality of there budget laptops. And the fact that they overcharge you for upgrades like ram when you buy them bothers me also... and the fact that they don't come with restore disks when you buy them.. you have to order them when you need them. Yes the powerbooks are nice machines, but they are over priced for what you get. I take the amount of money you spent on it and buy a pc that will have better hardware specs. I never said any thing about windows.... Linux is the way to be I didn't say that Macs are horrible.. I am just saying don't believe the rumors that macs never die and that they are so much more reliable than Pc's. A good pc with quality hardware will be as or more reliable than a mac. And the reason you can have less virus protection on macs is because they are less popular, therefore less viruses are made for them. And yes i agree that the computer I mentioned are not fantastic.. they are budget companies.. but they are the best 2 budget companies in my opinion. I have repaired hundreds of computers and emachines and accer are the ones that I get back for majore repairs the least amount. I am compareing them to brands like dell, hp and other brands. Emachines won the best budget desktop for quite a few years in a row in pcworld magazine and consumer reports has always recommended them. I doubt that your computer will really on fire. Your power supply probably just smoked a cap. Apple Makes some quality computers, I don't mean to offend any one here with macs. If you like em then buy em no skin off my back. -Mike
  12. Sorry to hear about your computer man... I had a hard drive crash on my a few weeks ago.. it sure is a bummer. Don't fall into their lies... Macs are over priced pc's with less powerful hardware and a crappier O.S.. My friend who only buys macs has had his motherboard replaced and his hard drive with in the first year... I am not saying that macs aren't good for some people. But with a PC you get a much better bang for your $$ as far as hardware goes. Also PC's are much easier to repair your self and cost less to have repaired. Also macs are now using the same processors as PC's therefore there hardware is now pretty much the same. Yep, I build all my computers... I have one that has been running for over 5 years with out 1 replacement part. All you have to do is choose your parts wisely to begin with. I repair/build computers as job on the side and for a hobby and IMHO dells are pretty much the lowest of low, although they are really cheap but that means you are getting really cheap parts. Here are the (budget) brands I have had a good experience with: Emachines ( now owned by gateway) I have had nothing but a great experience with these emachines. Although I have not had one since gateway bought them out.. I don't think any thing has changed though. The only thing that seems to go wrong with them is the power supply fails after about 2 or 3 years but replace that and you are golden My family has owned 3 emachines and the first one ran flawlessly for 7 years and possible would have ran longer than that had I not upgraded the motherboard. The other 2 are still up and running. Acer: Acer is a well known brand in Taiwan ( kind of Taiwan's IBM), with in the last 5 years or so they have been getting more and more popular in the us... they use very good hardware. But I have recently heard bad things about the customer support.. not sure how valid that claim is. And thats all I can think of for now -Mike
  13. lol.... that was way to funny... still loling... -Mike
  14. Same thing here... But try stopping put it in neutral then shift your T-case to neutral then try and shift to 4 low or 4 high with the t-case... At that point I get a grinding. Like dennisb said, my transmission is probably still spinning from moving forward, therefore when I try to engage my t-case into 4h or 4l I get a grinding when the tcase and tranny meet. I guess thats whats going on any way... I am scared to test the idea... the grinding noise makes me nervous -Mike
  15. * Wonders if the blacked out taillights had any thing to do with the rear end accident My mom used to work for an insurance company, she said that they are totaling pretty much every thing these days.. don't know why. -Mike
  16. Thanks for the advice. I go to harbor freight all the time so I will see if I can pick one up next time I go for a tool run. I might just have to give up on my idea of having a perfect pathfinder .. at least now that there are a few dents on it I am less afraid to go 4x4ing with it. Hmm or maybe I should just leave the dent on the hood and just tell people that I shot a giant buck while I was out hunting and I strapped it to my pathy and when I went over a really big bump it's massive 25 point rack dented my hood. I have yet to think of a good one for the rear dent... -Mike
  17. yeah I was thinking of welding on a metal rod and trying to pull out the corner dent as much as I can.. then cutting off and grinding down the rod and then just using body filler from there. but your right I have seen a lot of bad bondo jobs -Mike
  18. Hi guys, I was just wondering if any one has attempted to do there own body work on there pathy's. I have a few dents that I would like to repair but don't want to spend the $$$ to have some one else do it. And just wondering if any one has attempted it and successfully repaired some dents. Or if I should just leave it to the professionals Here are the dent's I would most want to repair: This one happened yesterday a ladder that my dad set up to go on the house got blown over by the wind and hit my pathy. This one came with the car... it looks like they used red fingernail polish to color in the dented area They are both corner dents so it would probably take some work to repair them. I want to get a tub of bondo body filler and a airbrush and repair these things what do you think? -Mike
  19. Yeah I think I understand now. So I might just have to wait a little for it to slow down, for now I think I will just avoid neutral all together And yes I know you have to stop rolling to shift through neutral. Thanks for your help -Mike
  20. You can check the vehicle safety reports online, they said that no WD21 pathfinders were made with airbags. Infact I don't think Nissan used airbags until 1996 vehicles. In general most vehicles before 1996 don't have airbags as a standard. Might be possible if you installed an after market steering wheel?? never looked that up before -Mike
  21. Hi guys, I know there has been a lot of discussion on this but after reading through 3 or 4 threads I didn't find a definitive answer. this is for a auto trans. Here is my problem: 1. Start up my car and put it into Neutral 2. Pull down 4wd stick to 4H (no problems) drive around a bit 3. Push in and pull stick down to 4wd low (no problems no grinding) drive around a bit. 4. Push in and put 4wd stick into N .. and this is where the problem lies. 5. Push stick in and "Grinding Noise" when trying to go from 4wd N to 4low or 4high. I can go from 4 high to 4 low fine and visa versa.. but if I ever hesitate or put the 4wd stick into N then I can't get out?? without hearing an terrible sounding grinding noise. I read that if it happens I can shut off my vehicle and then put it into 4high.. Why is this? am I doing something wrong? Are you just not supposed to put it into neutral? Thanks for your responses. And I am sorry if this question has been asked before, but I could not find an answer to my specific case. -Mike
  22. Thanks for the b-day wishes .. I guess I missed this post last time Didn't get much for my pathy... but I still haven't had a party with my family so I just might get some stuff -Mike
  23. Let me know how it goes. I am a little afraid to take of my T/b... mostly afraid of dropping a screw down the air intake So I just looked in there and tried to clean it some more but it still sticks... It only happens at about every 3rd stoplight. Not sure why.... So possible could the T/b plate be scraping in the t/b actually touching it? I do notice some small scrape marks at the bottom of the t/b ... might just be ware marks. Any thing to worry about when taking it off? There looks to be a seal.. will that need to be replaced? -Mike
  24. Okay so I took the throttle cable off of the t/b and it still sticks... So I am guessing it is the plate still sticking. Any suggestions? -Mike
  25. When I first got my pathy about 3 months ago I noticed that the gas pedal would stick when stopping at a stop light or to start out with during the day. So I read on the forums to clean it with some air intake cleaner and a soft tooth brush. The first time: I took off the air intake hose and started cleaning... it was very dirty.. tons of black junk came out while spraying and brushing. After a half of a can of air intake stuff and an hour of cleaning I thought I had it. A few days later it started to stick again. Second Time: Went back in to try and clean it out again, this time I cleaned every thing even the back of the butterfly plate ( making sure I got it all)... worked great, a few days later it started to stick again.. even worse this time. Third Time: Used the rest of the can of the cleaning fluid, used the old tooth brush again and a rag. Once again it was kind of dirty... I made sure this time to clean it out behind the plate as well .. got it to sparkle in there. worked fine for about 3 days and started to stick.. but not nearly as bad as before. So now it sticks every once and a while.. at every 4rth or 5th stoplight.. seems to get worse as the vehicle warms up (might just be my imagination on that one). I can't imagine that there is any gunk left in there, Is it possible while cleaning I made the butterfly plate off center or something? I am a total newb when it comes to air intakes. Next I am going to try and remove the throttle cables and test it with out them and try and make it stick. Any ideas? -Mike
