  1. wow..found it. that was easy.. truthfully, i never knew what that was for.. but thank you! Would it help if i recorded what it does as im going up a hill? i do realize there are other types of things it could be doing.. but yeah. im going to try (and let it win) and google to see how to make the engine light on the dash flash so i can get the code.. Thanks everyone, its really appreciated.. im just trying to get it running how it should so i can get to places without fretting.
  2. will do.. i hooked up a scanner (one of the computerized snap on ones from the shop, and it said manual codes only.. Do these not have an OBD 2 connector? fuel filter.. arent those in the fuel tank? i think im going to try some seafoam in it.. it seems the more trips im making, the less its acting up, but i did get to where id pull it into 1st n run it at about 2500 RPMs just to get some fuel moving faster.. (yes its a backroad no one really ever travels on, so 15mph is fine on it..) im just trying to get it running right.. it also seems to idle right at 500-600 RPM.. (intake was removed to change injector) maybe my throttle cable is off too..not sure, but just thought i'd give more info.. Thanks!
  3. Okay, so i replaced oil with Castrol GTX oil, along with Purolator Classic oil filter.. i put fuel injector cleaner through it (not sure if its went through yet..put it in with just over quarter tank of gas..now right at quarter ytank) but..anyway. The lifters tick at idle (neighbor said it should go away after the new oil runs through it a bit.. and when going up a not too steep grade or acceleration..it hesitates..like it will bog down some before taking off. (remember it sat for a year before i got it) my CEL light is also on.. i can pull the battery cable and it wont come on until im driving it.. any ideas? Im wondering if it may be clogged fuel lines, clogged catalytic converter or..something else.. Thanks! (would spark plugs be an issue?) just throwing out some ideas.. Thanks!
  4. Finally..after many bumps and bruises and battle scars.. i finally got the pathy running like it should. :D

  5. oh.. that could by why.. i noticed there's a switch under the gas pedal if you push the pedal aaalll the way down.. but ill look for the other one.. UPDATE: Fixed ABS and BRAKE lights (neighbor replaced relays..not sure where, can ask if anyone needs help.. everything is now good to go on the pathfinder! just the lifters ticking, but the oil is BAD, needed replaced 6k miles ago, apparently, and it sitting or that long doesnt help.. going to replace with castrol GTX. Hopefully fixes my lifter problems..
  6. the needle point grease gun (and lots of other stuff) did the trick! (thanks to my neighbors) it just took lots of elbow grease getting everything in the bushings.. there was a LOT of rust running out of it.. but..so far so good.. now the only thing wrong with it is the alternator belt.. its stretched and almost melted on the way bringing it back home.. my neighbor also said (he's a mechanic) the ABS/BRAKE lights could also be from either air in the brake lines (BRAKE light) and or brake shoes are worn out. now, just so i dont keep opening TONS of threads.. is there a fuse to the middle console lights? my gearshift and fog/alarm/truck buttons have no backlights either..it was hard to tell which gear i was in (yes, it's an automatic) and my alarm light will NOT stop flashing! i've tried putting it in the OFF position and..it still flashes. same goes for impact off and off. along with the driver side head/fog lights.. are those hooked up in parallel? like..one goes out they both go out? (another thing my neighbor said.. so..im not sure) any ideas? sorry about the multitude of questions..but im slowly getting there. Thanks everyone for your help!
  7. Well, that's a good question.. i dont have a multimeter at present but i do know its been sitting with a dead battery for a while.. i couldnt pull anything from the scanner they have at shop..and its one of the expensive, SHINY ones.. it just said manual codes only? maybe i was doing something wrong..but anyways. Fluid level is NOT low..its only like a quarter inch below the MAX line.. Shop person said sometimes spraying a little oil under the handbrake will fix the BRAKE light on the dash. (something with the switch might be stuck? i dont have a grease gun..bit tried pushing in some dielctric grease with a Q tip and then the WD-40 trick..and it helped..for now. (still hard to get it moving) But shop person also said the ABS light COULD be a speed sensor? not sure..but it sounds complicated..
  8. oh okay.. i thought it was trying to go off silently..but yeah. Thanks! I'll check it.. like i said.. the tire carrier is extremely hard to move.. i have to use all my body weight to even try to move it.. I'll check n see how everything goes. Thanks!
  9. Okay.. so. i got the pathfinder running perfectly again. Smooth idle and all. (but i noticed it seems to warm up a lot quicker.. and the radiator top felt hot..but..anyway) *** The alarm light flashes repeatedly (the little light under the arm rest)..for no reason while its running..any ideas? *** The ABS and BRAKE lights are on too (on the dash)(low fluid? not sure, didnt have time to check it) *** and the tire carrier light.. but the tire carrier is extremely difficult to move..so ill take some WD-40 to it tomorrow. (any idea why it would throw up a code on it?) but other than that.. i got it done! ill have it back on the road in no time.. Thanks!
  10. Thanks! i have it all put together now..but one more question.. there's 3 lines going to the big waffle hose from the air filter to the throttle plate.. 2 big hoses.. and one little one.. apparently someone lost it (if its needed i can pull one from another engine, no biggie) but..is it an important vacuum line? i cant figure out where it would go.. the pathy is ready to go, other than that one little tiny vacuum line.. it doesnt go to the breather box.. all those lines are hooked up.. any ideas? Thanks! (I know, i probably should have taken a picture before i left shop.)
  11. haha yeah i was waiting for someone to actually make a remark about that.. but yeah, thankfully.. is it really that easy? if it is i'll do it..as long as i dont have to pull out the whole dash.. im hoping its just lube.. but thanks! I'll try taking a paper towel to it.
  12. Hello, i have another question.. lol Okay, it's been like this but i never really pay attention to it.. but..my gas gauge has some sort of leak behind it..and i cant figure out why.. there's no leaking in the windshield, that i've noticed anyways..any ideas? Is this some sort of hint that i'm going to have to pay a lot more in gas after i get the injector done?
  13. hmm.. would it be possible to record the sound? unless its something loose on the IAC (idle air control) which does change position as it warms up. (as far as i know?, i could be wrong.. but a recording would help)
  14. Hoping the progress on the pathy goes smoothly tomorrow :D

  15. ..good point. ahhh maybe im just too tired tonight to think of that. thanks!
  16. Just wondering if it's possible, or been done before, but i noticed my pathy has a belt-driven fan, and i know you lose HP to these and im wondering if it's a really complicated process, and is it really worth doing? Thanks!
  17. you're kidding me right? i REALLY hope they just miscounted or something..
  18. true.. the hoses underneath the intake are great but its just a few of the bigger hoses.. but ill try autozone first.. im hoping they arent too much.
  19. Hello, i have found a remote i want for my pathy..but im wondering..did this come standard with the pathfinders? like will it recognize and work with it? Thanks! F.Y.I. i have programmed remotes for cars before..but..just wondering!
  20. yeah.. found that out the hard way when i went to put it back on..needless to say.. it broke again. Sorry im being delayed with the replies.. im having to work on it at the school auto shop.. but i have most of the intake put back together.. should i really go ahead and get a new injector cap? I tightened the good side down really tight and it doesnt seem to budge or move at all.. I'd be more than willing to pay through paypal to get the part.. i really appreciate the help everyone! let me know and i'll see what i can do. Also.. as bad as i hate to keep going off-topic to this thread i broke a hose on the intake.. (a lot of the hoses seem to be dry-rotted) anyone know where i could pick these parts up at? (remember this truck sat for atleast a year of no running before i got it)
  21. no, but i could get a picture if needed.. i think i may have fixed it.. i googled and found something called J.B. Weld? It's these two tubes you mis and it holds the two pieces of metal together.. like the superglue of metal i'll see how it works out.. but thank you! and i'll let you know if i need it. Gotta love the support you get from this forum!
  22. I got it out! The screw went to the other side of the valve, so i shook the pathfinder a bit and the vaseline on the screw driver worked. Thanks! anytime i tried to use a magnet it would stick to the side of the lower intake and fall back in.. Thanks everyone for the ideas! Only now..the injector made for a TIGHT fit..and i had a friedn help me.. and they got the idea of how to put it in.. put the cap that goes over it on it andscrew it in and it will go in as you screw it in! That worked....until the cap actually snapped in half.. Does anyone have any idea what this part is called, or where i could get it? I know, it was probably a stupid idea to let them do that..but it wouldnt go in at all.. Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it. It's becoming a lot more trouble than expected..
  23. wow!!! -drools- i'm loving the rims on that. i think i'd be too scared to take it out anywhere dirty, with it looking that clean. nice work! did you paint the rims yourself or buy them like that?
