This is somethin I was wondering about myself just curious as to what the factory gears were. I Checked mine just now and I have HG46 stamped on the firewall passenger side. 98 SE..if that matters. -
Vh45 swap (No not a build thread unfortunately)
Wo0denSp0on replied to ferrariowner123's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Yea I've been looking around a bit for some engine swap ideas since mine is about to break 200k and i dont believe the previous owner took that great of care of it. (I bought it with 187K) I have a chevy 4.3 sitting in the shop floor and a 200r4. But seeing as the bellhousing on the factory trans isnt mated I figure it may be possible to have one built to bolt to the nissan trans and the back of the Chevy motor. Saving me from having to figure out the drivelines. Then the figuring out the flywheel and torque converter would probably be a pain..As far as electricals go yea theyll suck... And the nissan trans may not hold up to the hp/tq of the 4.3. Oh the joys of custom fab! I was thinking the 4.3 simply because i have one already. Building a VG34 surpasses any knowlege i have of the VG engines. The VG33ER(i think) the factory supercharged xterra/fronteir sounds like a fun motor to have too. Electronics wise the 4.3 still sounds easier. -

Yea. I just got lucky mine worked out as easy as it did. I may change up the tabs later but for now it works great. I like to be able to light up the party in the woods. -

Its all good man! I like yours more than mine. I dont really like how high up it puts my lights. Think imma slide it back a little more like you have yours. When I turn on the middle lights you can barely see out of the cab for the glare on the windshield. And E_ROCK imma guess you notice welding next to a pile of airisol cans? -

Nice job man! Looks a little inspired maybe.... haha -
Thanks for Vaynes calling out my lack of hardcore offroadness... ha! I havent put the pathy in much of a bind tho honestly. I dont have many places to wheel around my parts and most of the areas with decent trails are hit by hardcore mud guys and the holes would likely swallow my pathy. My jeep friend never offers to go first thru the trails...I may try to change that this weekend as he just got his winch in and mounted last night..

I never saw 01silverpathy's shift thread. I have had my SFD for about 6 months or so now and havent had anything like that. But the fastest speed I can think of havin it up to is bout 85ish. But anyways I like where Fluerys is goin with his idea I would have figured somebody has tried that before but maybe not! Would be pretty sweet tho..i would probably keep my blocks anyways if possible.

I didnt choose..tho I dont thinki these Nittos even have white wall lettering. I like the black personally...if its not noticable...ha! By wo0densp0on at 2011-10-23

The blocks that Shift220 uses for the Krypton kits are pretty hefty blocks. Ive seen a lot of pictures of guys on here doin to pretty tough mudding/crawling and I haven't heard of any problems from the SFD. Likely if you bend one of the blocks you had a bad day. Also a lot of the SFD guys use the "missing link" to help stiffen up the front a little more http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=32398. I havent gotten around to installing one myself as I figure my brother has enough scrap metal and free time we can probably build one.
-
Only reason I thought of possibly trying that idea was because when I first installed the new coils my pathy was topping out extremely bad. But now that the springs have settled a bit and i have mounted wench bumper it doesnt happen much these days.
-
When I was doing my SFD my brother and I had this idea. Take my old factory strut cut the shaft about 4 or so inches down carry it and the new strut to a machine shop and have them machine out the factory shaft to thread onto the new strut. thus extending the strut a bit. Of course you would probably bottom out the strut if you were pretty hard on it but as far as topping out you would be ok and gain a little lift? One of the fellas here at work says Fox will build a custom coilover but I havent looked into it a whole lot.
-
Ha nope sure didnt notice! I had problems with it getting loose for a little while tho..that may have contributed to it. When I swapped my old battery for that Optima it was dark and I was holding a flashlight with the head/shoulder grab so I wasnt payin any attention to anything other than makin sure they were on the right posts.
-
Thats how it is wired. What you see are 4 power wires to the battery for 4 switches. 3 of which are the only ones currently tied to lights. There are only 2 goin up to the roof. I havent completely finished with it yet since im planning to add 2 more lights if i can figure out how i want to mount them. Once that is done I will clean it all up and make it neat.

https://www.4x4parts.com/nissan/off-road-light-kit-p-448.html - Link to the lights I am using. I havent worried about heat at all..didnt think it would be a factor but I also dont know much about the VG engines. If I end up continually blowing fuses I will change up my wiring. The wires I used are the ones that 4x4parts sent with the kit. Also the kit came with 2 switches for 4 lights so I wired em up 2 Lights per switch as I figured was intended. By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-17 The wires come out directly behind the intake. Im not sure if there is a difference between the 98 and 01 firewall so the route I used may not be exact to how yours may look. Routed it like this. By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-17 By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-17 1 20A fuse per switch. Tied them to the back side posts of my battery. Pulled my fuses out to where you could see them. Had it tied back under the fender.
-
From my switch I have a wire running to the lights 1 to ground and 1 to battery with a 20amp fuse. 2 lights per switch. Not sayin thats the right way to run it but thats how I have it done. Mine are 130w each.

The bumper is actually for an 07-12 jeep. Being for a jeep it doesnt cover all the things that need coverin on the Pathy. Once I get finished adding to it I'll put some pics up of how I mounted it and all.
-
I still have a couple more lights I want to mount at the corners of my hood so I still have a couple more wires to run. I ran out of wire or I would have pre-wired it with the rest of them. The lights sit a little higher than I had originally planned but for FREE.99 on the light bar I cant complain.
-
By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 All the switches are the ones that came with the lights from 4x4parts. Had to do a little trimming on the switches to make them fit, but I think it turned out quite well. By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 I like how it turned out. Got lucky things went that easy with the FJ light bar slightly modified. Minus a little ground problem with the top 4 that had me confused for a moment it was a fairly easy install. If anyone else does this run a ground from to a better source than the factory roof rack slides.

By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 I took some flat headed bolts slid them into the factory rack slot and they fit quite nice. By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 The bar was built for the Rigid Industries LED lights...I cant afford those things! So I used a little angle iron to make this work out.
-
A few weeks back I bought 8 6in lights from 4x4parts and finally got a chance to install this weekend. The lightbar I used actually was made by Rigid Industries for a Toyota FJ. A guy I work with bought the light bar but the mounting brackets wouldnt let the 10in LED lights fit. They sent him a new one and told him to keep the old. He gave it to me and with a little bit of fabrication it turned into this... By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 By wo0densp0on at 2012-03-12 The FJ light bar was a little wide so I cut a section out of the middle.

I just ran some wires for my lights last night and used the rubber grommet behind the intake bout mid firewall that the factory harness runs through into the dash. Ran 8 wires thru it with no problem. Used a box cutter to get a starting hole ran a wire clothes hanger from the inside out into the engine bay tied my first wire on and used it to pull the rest back thru. Im gonna try to put some pics up of my lights/bar installation soon.

Alright man I appreciate it. Yea this bumper is for a TJ YJ somethin J jeep i dunno which one. Not sure when I'll get a chance to mount it up, but when i do I'll put some pics up.
