  1. My 93 had a smaller taper pitman cause when I had the original in the center link fit fine. Now that I swapped in a 95 steering box it was too big. Looks like swapping pitman ARM is the easiest option.. or get a 95 center link but that costs more and the pitman arms are there...BTW. any way to swap pitman arms while its in the truck? I have a pitman ARM puller but how do you get it back on ?

  6. the auto hubs just come out as an assembly right? im tackling the wheel bearings and upper/lower ball joints tomorrow
  7. I am interested as well. I'm about to tackle the upper/lower ball joints and wheel bearings on both sides in the front. any tips / tricks?
  8. Well I did the hinge pins and bushings today. What a pain it was to get the lower hinge pin out, and getting the bushings out was also a pain. Went over well though and it works perfect again. With my 33x12.5 tire on there when I open the latch and pull it off the support pad the carrier actually opens itself now, and it closes with ease just let it swing and its momentum closes it. It was really stiff before the lower bushings were pretty seized. No more rattles at all going over bumps. This thing supports some pretty good weight and I made custom steel plate brackets to hold it on the body as well, my truck didn't come with one. So worth the money and headache!!!!
  9. Finally fixed the hinge bushings in my spare tire carrier. Wow what a pain.. upper hinge pin was easy, bottom one took some serious help to get out. Got er all done and no more rattle going over bumps!! Finally opens and closes properly too. It even opens itself once the latch is released! So cool ...

Don't forget to add zerk fittings and keep that thing greased.

yeah thats not a bad idea. Although it does have the little needle fitting spot, I would be a lot more inclined to do it if I had a zerk on there. lol

  10. Well www.courtesyparts.com sells nissan oem parts and gives you the dealership parts diagrams and all the part numbers. They are usually quite a bit cheaper than the dealership unless the shipping gets you, but would be a good place to order the parts from if you can't get them locally, they were super cheap... The upper and lower pins are here. $4.60 for the upper and $3.40 for the lower. http://www.courtesyp..._5573_5693_5695 The bushings are here. $2.41 a piece, you need 4 of these. http://www.courtesyp...5-p-540802.html Total of $17.68 + whatever shipping is to you..
  11. Went to fit a front skid plate to my truck, it was missing... Now I see why... all 6 bolts broken off flush...useless 6 MM bolts holding it in... drilled them out to 8MM holes and re tapped. These shouldnt break! :)

  12. 3.0 distributor works in a 3.3 when you use the 3.0 ecu to run it. As in for vg33 swap.
  13. you could always buy a brand new frame from nissan. lmao.... what a joke. I actually was cruising courtesyparts and looked at how much a brand spankin new frame would be.... 3000$!!!! i was thinkin 1500 MAX lol. was a shocker to see 3k!
  14. Ah okay I figured it out. I got the wrong upper pin already from nissan. I got 2x E7246 which are the 57 MM lower pin. I'll have to return it for the proper upper pin which is E7245 which measures 63 MM. They are actually 2 different pins for the upper and lower hinges (slightly different length, upper pin is 63 mm and lower pin is 57 mm) and it looks to me like there needs to be 4 bushings which are E7247...I'll pick up the 2 more bushings and swap the pin for the proper one. Thanks for the info guys. So just for future reference if anyone searches up this post then the correct part numbers and quantities are: 1x E7245 1x E7246 4x E7247 This is for a '91 swing out tire carrier.
  15. in this factory parts diagram it shows part number 57211H. says 2 required per vehicle and shows a diagram of how they are installed via www.courtesyparts.com oem nissan diagrams.. I was going by what this diagram shows, as well as this one at www.factorynissanparts.com: This is why I was wondering if anyone else on here had actually replaced them, and what the deal is. Both diagrams show 2 pins and 2 bushings, installed from the top and nothing on the bottom. Are they both wrong???
  16. Got my spare tire carrier pins and bushings today. Getting ready for putting them in tomorrow as well as welding some captive nuts to the custom brackets I made to fit the carrier on my non-carrier truck. Fishings nuts on the back is just a pain and was a temporary solution. Also going to try and drill and tap some bigger front skidplate plate bolts. Then alignment at 1:00 and wheeling this weekend!
  17. Hey everyone. Quick question... I am about to replace the bushings on my tired old spare tire carrier. I ordered the parts from nissan, 2 hinge pins and 2 bushings. I asked the nissan parts guy and he assured me it's just the 2 bushings. I read a guide online that said I would need 4 bushings but I looked at the nissan parts catalogue and it shows only 2 as well, also a few other online parts catalogues and they also showed just 2 bushings used per vehicle... Just want to confirm that I have what I need for the job. Wondering why the guy who made the guide online here: http://faculty.ccp.edu/faculty/dreed/campingart/nistail/index.htm says that I need 2 pins and 4 bushings, while nissan and the online parts diagrams show only 2 pins and 2 bushings needed. Anyone that has replaced these give me a heads up? Thanks
  18. what he said ^. if you are doing a vg33e swap then yes it will work. I am running a full vg33e engine/crank/oil pump/accessories etc... using the vg30e engine controls (injectors, harness, sensors, distributor etc.) runs great. however if you are trying to replace your current distributor to run in a newer pathfinder (r50) than no it will not work, you need the distributor to match whichever ECU you are using.
  19. I'm going to be testing out the 2wd steering setup this weekend on the trails I will keep informed how it holds up!
  20. Phew... Installed the new steering box... Went to put on newly acquired front skidplate and realised every single one of the 6 bolts has been snapped off lol... time to bust out the drill and tap... sigh. Steering feels amazing now with lower mile 95 pathy steering box and 2wd hardbody steering setup with oem steering damper. Tomorrow is new spare tire carrier bushings and fitting front skid plate...alignment friday and wheeling this weekend!!
  21. Pulled a mint 95 pathy steering box with zero play from the junkyard and finally got my missing front skid guard both for 50$. Cleaned em up and blasted em with some black tremclad rust paint. Ready to go on today.
  22. Picked up a mint 95 pathy steering box and front skid plate today at the wreckers for 50 bucks. Cleaned and painted black and ready to go on tomorrow. :D

  23. well that is strange. I must have had mine in reverse or something, as I left my outers(inners i guess haha) attached to the spindle and just threaded on the machined adjustment sleeve. My left handed threads were already pointed to the outside of the truck. Guess subconciously I was already getting ready for this swap, hahaha! and yeah. Bumpsteer is gone now hey? mine too...like...completely gone now that it is aligned!
  24. Um I used the 2WD Inner Tie Rod 4WD OUTER Tie Rod 4WD Adjustment Sleeve 2WD Center Link You used a 4WD Inner tie rod instead of an outer tie rod? Or was this a mis-type? The adjustment sleeve gets the right-handed inner tie rod side threads bored out for new 18mm right-handed threads. The stock pathfinder outer tie rod is then used which has the left handed threads on the outer side of the adjustment sleeve...
  25. Mine is still running great, mind you not quite as beefy as tungstens but i just need something to hold out until after tech school so i can sas it! and yeah i am pretty impressed with it too. i have no idea why they used the 4x4 system for steering...night and day difference when lifted.
