They're just hard to push down since the plugs are deep down under the intake and you can't get your hand down there to press them down... the stock ones have super long and stiff boots so you can push them down from the top. I guess I could take off the intake if its not too hard...?
-
Got myself a set of universal MSD wires and started building my own, I've got 4 of 6 done, but the three with the superlong boots that are on the right bank [as you look at the engine] are TOUGH to press down since the MSD boots aren't as long as stock and not as stiff... took me about 20 minutes to get the first one pressed down. Grr. Anyways, its a work in progress, and not that hard, just a little time consuming to crimp your own wires and stuff.

You say "I'll have to get the hubs..." Am I missing something? How come you HAVE to get manual hubs before you install a lift... other than it might just be a good idea... I wasn't of the assumption that it was a requirement. =)
-
Yep, but when you look up the part it says "This part has an additional shipping charge." I thought it would be a lot since they take the time to warn you about it, but the extra charge was only $5. They also charge a "handling" fee of around $9... plus tax on the original item... =(

How to install a 110 amp alternator in your Pathy
statikuz replied to 88pathoffroad's topic in How-To's
Very sly. =) I'm not so sure I'm adventurous enough to try all that, but it looks very cool nevertheless. =) Nice job! -
Hmm... Niehoff is the next one I've found and it looks like a decent deal, plus, I can order it online and pick it up locally so I'll have someone to complain to in case it doesn't fit. =)
-
Yeah, the one NAPA sells is a "Beck Arnley"... Autozone has the same and a "Wells" one... anyone else have any recs?
-
Well I just ordered some new MSD spark plug wires for my Pathy... they should be here sometime next week but meanwhile I was wondering if I should go ahead and replace the distributor cap while I was at it. Should I? And if I should, where can I get a new one? I'm betting brand doesn't so much matter here, but it might... I dunno... any information? Thanks.

http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=21 It was a sticky in the Garage, not altogether too hard to find, but there's the link to the trouble codes at least. =)

I was postin' the info for tgirouard, didn't know you were lookin' for some too. =) Bushwackers are spendy... but I bet they're like some other things... you get what you pay for. I dunno. The stock ones and I get along just fine. Where are you gettin' your roof rack from?
-
The Bushwacker flares for your application are PN 71905-11 and run $374 plus shipping from Summit Racing... they're kinda big so I imagine shipping will probably not be too cheap either... =(
-
I was just kidding.
-
OUCH! =) And the moral of the story is... =P
-
Yeah, I looked there, but they didn't have that exact part number available... if you called 'em up I'm sure they could order them.
-
I'm not sure about price, I'm guessing around $300-$350, but that might not even be in the ballpark. As for stories... I've heard good things about them, definitely on a more positive note than the Pacesetter headers. =)

Yep, the coolant in the radiator was green, but the overflow bottle was SUPER-dirty... took it out and cleaned it and filled it up with new coolant... took all of about 15 minutes. =)
-
You might be able to... I put 5x7's in there as well with a little bit of cutting... made myself some MDF speaker mounts too for some reason. I forget why. =)
-
Anyone know if these are the bumper-mounted variety? I suppose I could go take one of mine out and check the part number but if someone knows off the top of their head that would be great. =) The lenses on mine are kinda cracked so I've been looking to replace 'em, but the dealer-stealer wants a godawful amount of money for a new set...
-
Hey, this is another question from the place where all easy questions come from. =) I was toolin' around under the hood of my Pathy today and noticed all the fluid in the coolant reservoir, y'kno over to the left of the radiator was pretty dirty-lookin'. Should I worry about this? How do you drain/replace it? Is it hard? =) Thanks!
-
Yep, that's about the only improvement I've seen... it doesn't make your steering any tighter, per se, but it does improve it when driving on rough roads and such... just drive over some potholes and such with your hands off the steering wheel and notice how much it turns... that'll be reduced with a SS.

You probably already know this, but the AC kit IS a Performance Accessories kit, they just take the 86-90 version and include the different bolts and charge you the extra $50 or whatever. =) Just kidding... I don't know the prices. I emailed them [Performance Accessories] about it and got this back: At this time we have not prototyped the 1993 Pathfinder. It may be possible to use the kit for the older vehicle but I can not verify that. In some cases there can be issues with the manual shifter. When we prototype a vehicle, we address these issues and provide the required parts or instructions to resolve these concerns in our kits. Again, we have not checked the fit of the older kit on your model year vehicle.

Alrighty, thanks a ton! That's what I was looking for. =)

Bump. =) I know this is a mega dumb question but someone has to know. Any help? =)

I think the multi-angle boots will work fine for the plug ends, but what about the distributor ends? The MSD list has "HEI", "socket" and "90°" as choices for those ends. Check out http://www.msdignition.com/wire_3.htm to see what I'm talking about. Thanks for everyone's time... this is probably just one colossal dumb question. =) Right now I'm looking at PN 31189, "Universal, 8-cylinder engines, with 90 degree HEI style "spark plug top" distributor caps (GM HEI, Ford Duraspark and MSD Cap-A-Dapt) and multi-angle spark plug boots and terminals, 8.5 mm, helical wound core, silicone jacket, Super Conductor wire set."
