  1. I've heard of several people running a remote oil filter and they all liked theirs. Works just fine. It's a Moroso Ford oil filter remote kit. If we could figure out exactly which Ford application it's for we could get a nice deal on remote oil filter kits... ...and welcome to the board.
  2. THIS is why I hate the VG30 engine series. When something makes it run funny, NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM! -mad-
  3. Try some Bilsteins or Ranchos instead? Stiffer shocks seem to me to be a good way to control wobbly suspension feel. Cheap shocks are soft and will allow more movement.
  4. Dylanmarley12: You can't get a body lift for any 96-up Pathfinder. They're unibody vehicles. The only lift you can get is a suspension lift. You could probably stick 30x9.5 tires on there if you wanted to, or 29x9's if the 30's rub. Most people go with the 2" suspension lift and 31's. 235/75/15 tires equate to about a 28" tall tire.
  5. D'oh! Dammit! Mine is starting to give me some real frustrating problems, too. Sputtering when stepping on the gas, overall lack of power, low gas mileage, etc. I like the Chevy 350 idea better and better each time I think about it.
  6. So you're saying you found a VG30E as a replacement for your VG30i but don't know if it will work or not? Man, you gotta start using periods in your writing. It's not a direct swap, no. The intake and FI setup are all different, and at the very least you'd have to swap all the TBI stuff over from your old engine to get it to work, unless you wanted to swap engine computers and transmission computer(if it's an automatic). I don't think they made 2WD-specific engines, so they should be very nearly the same. I really can't comment on the crank length or keyway issue, cause I don't know. Sorry. Lots of luck, man! I hope you get it going soon.
  7. The plastic tube that's being referred to is the intake pipe that goes between the air cleaner box and the throttlebody on top of the intake on your engine. Since the FAQ post is referring to the TBI on 87-89 VG30i engines, this doesn't apply to your '97, which is a completely different setup. It couldn't hurt to try the same procedure, though. 1. Remove plastic intake pipe from throttlebody with engine off(preferably cold, too). You may need to remove it from the air cleaner box end. 2. Spray carb/throttlebody cleaner through throttlebody, opening and closing the butterfly by hand using the throttle cable pivot, making sure to clean the front AND back side of the butterfly as best you can. Try not to spray the entire can into the engine. 3. Reattach the intake pipe and run the engine for a while, revving occasionally. The excess cleaner should burn off after a short time. Hope that helps.
  8. Mwuahahahahaha, my point exactly!
  9. Since they didn't change body styling or engine/drivetrain features until the 1990 4-door models, you should be just fine using an '87 for parts on your '89. Everything will interchange as far as I know, and I've been junkyard parts-sourcing for quite a while.
  10. Yeah, it sounds more like a transmission mount or engine mount than a u-joint.
  11. Sway bar on one end, control arm on the other end, probably the lower control arm.
  12. "I don't want my mass air flow sensor and housing getting damanged or the intake hose wearing a hole in it." How the hell would having a cone filter on that damage your MAF? A cone filter weighs at most one pound. It's not going anywhere, man. What other intake hose are you referring to that you're so worried about? Most of the extraneous intake stuff is removed when you put the cone filter on, anyway. Just so you know, I've seen many people use these filters and I've never heard of any problems with any of them. I think you're being overly cautious.
  13. A solid axle conversion isn't something any normal Joe can do...it involves cutting off the entire IFS system and getting the new axle, spring perches, shocks, crossmember, steering, gearing and everything set up just right. Then you have to get a new front driveshaft built...it all adds up. That's why I was asking earlier....MOOKIE! HOW MUCH?!?
  14. Dude, try driving around a '88 XE V6 VG30i with 33's on it. Then you'll have an excuse to yell for more power. Mine was rated at 145 HP off the showroom floor, I do believe.
  15. More properly, you should chamfer the inside edges of the cut end. It'd be a good idea to bevel the very top of the spring right on the cut end, 'cause it doesn't wind down to flat like the stock springs do. Remove the sharp edges. That's it.
  16. I've got a BFG M/T 31x10.50 mounted on a stock Isuzu Trooper rim inside on my stock tire mount. It's a real tight fit, but after you get it in there and bolted down, not a problem. Of course, mine has about 50% tread left, so a fully treaded tire might be an even tighter fit, but yes, it's entirely possible.
  17. What would you say the total investment was on that project for the SFA alone? That looks REAL nice, man. Good work! I want a few more pics!
  18. Nobody makes that, sorry. Go to the junkyard and start pulling parts. I'd rate it a 9 at least.
  19. I think your poll choices are too black and white. Simply loosening the restrictions on lower level cusswords would be OK, while restrictions on more severe language would be a must, I agree. Do as you see fit, it's your site. I think everyone should be able to vent a little, but not to the point where we all have to read blatant profanity, know what I mean?
  20. Humid air isn't bad for an engine, just large amounts of water all at once.
  21. You got ripped off if they charged $20 for support struts off a 90's Pathfinder, man. Dam.n junkyards.
  22. I got mine at a local auto parts store. They're just plain replacement hydraulic struts, made by StrongArm. The store had a whole rack of struts, ready to go. I think mine were $20 each.
  23. All I gotta say is: http://www.aggressiveoffroad.com Click here for a pic of Carl's "PathPounder" with a 383 V8. It's pumping about 375 HP...he was running 35's on a front Dana 44 and rear Ford 9" last I heard. Atlas II transfer case...TH700-R4 transmission...and so on... http://www.aggressiveoffroad.com/Pathfinder.htm http://www.aggressiveoffroad.com/pthpndr8.htm http://www.aggressiveoffroad.com/v8Path.htm http://www.aggressiveoffroad.com/PathfinderSAS4.htm
  24. Also, get an aftermarket transmission oil cooler and completely bypass the stock cooler. The stock cooler will clog up and kill your transmission.
