  1. Here's an update on the UCAs. I'm sure many have noticed that the sleeves that come with the new RC UCAs are a little long. Well to try and make a long story short I found that the UCAs were sliding back and forth on the bushing (started getting clunking noises when braking in forward and reverse) As a fix I went to Ace Hardware and purchased 4 flat washers with an inside diameter of 7/8" to fit on the outside of the sleeve. Since the new washer fits outside the sleeve it does not affect the tightening of the spindle nut, it just pushes the bushing into the UCA where it belongs. And centers the UCA on the spindle. (sorry about the crappy pics, the only camera I have right now is my PDA.)
  2. I put in my UCAs and upper ball-joints yesterday and since I had some extra time on my hands I also put in my dual exploder tranny coolers. With a little more time to kill, I did a little experimenting with the 3.8 Taurus fan I picked up at the JY. With a little trimming I've found the Taurus fan will fit inside the existing Pathfinder shroud. Might be something someone else might want to try. I still have a little trimming to do and maybe fill in the gaps with some expanding foam. But it didn't turn out too bad. ps. I did have to relocate the overflow tube because one of the screws comes through in that area.
  3. The weekend after next might work out better, I'm not sure if the springs will be ready by next weekend anyways. Let me know, I've been dieing to get back up there.
  4. I live in Charlotte. If I can get my UCAs, ball joints and possibly some new rear springs installed this week I was thinking of heading to Uwharrie next weekend. I need to test out my new tires...
  5. Is it possible that a cylinder filled with fuel and hydro-locked resulting in a damaged rod or piston?
  6. I called Rough Country again this morning and talked to someone different. The UCAs are now on the way for $164.
  7. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for them? I called today to order some and they told me $255. That's a lot more than what others have been paying.
  8. Check your transmission wiring harness where it goes down by the trans dipstick tube. Mine came loose and fell on the exhaust manifold and caused the same problem.
  9. That almost sounds like a t-case or diff that's low on oil, my t-case made a similar noise before it went out. Make sure you check the oil level in the diffs, t-case and tranny.

    EGR

I have the EGR function code too with the accompanying check engine light. I've traced the problem to the EGR temp sensor, but since the light has come on I've been getting better mileage. (12-14mpg to 16-18mpg) So I think I'm going to leave it alone until the next time the inspection comes up.
  11. Check to make sure that your stock amps are getting power. Have you tried wiring a speaker directly to the CD player?
  12. Here's one of my other offroad vehicles I used to own many years ago.
  13. That is impressive to say the least.
  14. I'm still here in Charlotte. I was hoping to meet you at Uwharrie last month, but I know how vehicle problems can be. I almost didn't make it there myself,I had just finished fixing my front-end the day before the run.
  15. From the centers of the TRE holes my old one measures aprox. 29 7/8". After replacing the CL it was a little toed out, but my old CL and TREs were in pretty bad shape.
  16. I put an L&P CL in a few weeks ago and it was the same size. Sounds like they may have sent the wrong one.
  17. Here's mine, I haven't used them yet but from what I've heard the long one is for spark plugs 1 - 5 and the short one is for #6.
  18. AC has some. Pathfinder Rear Quick Disconnects
  19. Happy birthday Uncc, 88 too.
  20. I'd love to go, except for the fact I messed up my center link Labor day weekend up there. I plan on going up for the NOAS run, but I dont think the Pathfinder will be ready before then. When I do get up there I will be sporting a new L&P center link. -bounce-
  21. Cottman's Transmission shops. Three rebuilds and two transmissions later they still haven't fixed it. And every time I get it back it seems they've broke something else :furious:
  22. If it were an automatic I would say check the wiring harness going from the engine compartment to the transmission. I had a similar problem when the harness fell down on the exhaust and burned through a wire. It may not work with yours but it never hurts to check.
  23. Do you have any dash lights or gauges when you turn on the ignition switch?
