Do you change your own oil? That looks like residue from removing the oil filter. Time to break out the brake clean and clean it up. (I imagine your starter is oily as well)

Please Help. 01 Pathfinder Catalyst Inefficiency
5523Pathfinder replied to raypeg's topic in General Forums
You could pitch a fit to the service manager and ask why the reprogramming wasnt done. I believe that TSB was released in 08. IF you were in after that, well, they could at least cut you a deal on the reprogramming(if it applies). You could go in and have the file pulled to see if the Consult printout is attached. On the printout is your ECM part number. You can cross reference that with those on the TSB. -
Please Help. 01 Pathfinder Catalyst Inefficiency
5523Pathfinder replied to raypeg's topic in General Forums
Well, being that you are a 01, with 120,000 on it, you are well out of warranty. ECM reprograms can be covered under the emissions warranty, but thats 8 years, 80,000 miles. Sorry, you are out of warranty. Or there is a possiblity your ECM has already been reprogrammed. Unfortunatly, the only way to tell is to have the dealer scan tool (Consult) hooked up and tell you. -
Please Help. 01 Pathfinder Catalyst Inefficiency

Well, you might be in luck. There is a TSB for this problem. NTB02-087a was relased dealing with both P0420 and P0430. It recommends the ECM to be reprogrammed to a updated program. Unfortunatly, you have to go to the dealer. -
Replacing OEM Fog Lamps with Pilot PL-1055C Lights
5523Pathfinder replied to statikuz's topic in How-To's
Well, I had a rock take out my right fog lamp. I got one from Nissan, but apparently, its like the last one in the system. So, I looked this mod up a little to late as I got the lamp and installed it. What I noticed on the lamp is the factory Bosch part number. I thought I would pass it along if anyone would like it. 1 305 354 945 -
Well, thats hard to say. I guess it depends how worn your flywheel is. Do you have a 5 speed or auto trans? If its a 5 speed, you could put the trans in gear, block the wheels, and tighten as needed. With auto, yeah, your going to have to either block the starter, or if you have access to a strap wrench, you could put that on the crank pulley and tighten as needed. Sometimes you have to get creative if you dont have the right stuff on hand.

Is There Really A Problem With Ac Uca's?
5523Pathfinder replied to facebones's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I run them and dont seem to have any issues. What I have heard is that some are fine, others are crap. I guess Im lucky. Oh, I added grease zerks to mine to extend life and keep the noise down. -
There was a TSB released last year concerning this. That TSB is NTB08-049b, it was relased on Mrach 13, 2009. It states that Matic S or Matic J can be used in a 5 speed, Rear wheel drive Transmission. It stats to use Matic J if Matic S is not available. From what I hear when taking the new FX intro class here on the Infiniti side, is that the two fluids are similar. Just the S fluid has better friction Modifiers in it for longer life. Also that the J fluid would be phased out at some point. Note: This was not 100% official as there was no publication given out. This is only what is passed down the line, verbally.

The lower timing cover will go over it, then when you put the crank pulley on, that will hold it in place. Here is a part explosion of how it all goes together...

Can you take a picture of what you are talking about? Or look at some of the posted pics and maybe point out what you are talking about. The crank sprocket has a "keyway" groove machined in. The halfmoon keys shoudl be placed into the groove on the crank, then install the sprocket. There are actually two plates, one on the inside of the belt, and one on the outside of the belt. The plates do have a keyway cut into them, but they are not supposed to be "clocked" in any special position. Just slide them on and go.

Oh yeah, the chair. Well.........the dog chewed it up....got rid of the dog. I mailed you a piece. Enjoy. I was just making the point about everything in life now having a disclaimer. You should go to your local are dealer and look at new cars. There is at least 5 different warning stickers in the car before you buy it. Its people with no common sense making this country/world a worse place to live in. Really? Did the lady who put her hot McDonalds coffee really need to know that the contents inside were hot? ITS HOT COFFEE!! Yet, she sued and won.

As far as I remember, just revving it will not operate the other injector. Thats why we do the unplug test. They ar both supposed to squirt to start and idle for a certian time. Basicly, if it wont start with one unplugged, you got a stuck injector. You can take them out and have them tested in some areas. We had a place called Dr. Injector back in the day. Not too sure if they are around anymore, but there has to be others. Like I stated, if they have a mechanical failure, the ecm thinks all is ok, and wont throw a code.

We got that same conferance call yesterday. I shake my head. we have to do this now or the media will rip us to shreds. Gahhhh, automakers have recalls all the time. This is nothing new people. Time to board up the house, quit driving, cant take a plane(it will crash or flown into a building), cant take train(will fall off track or hit mudslide), walking is hazordous as it will wear out my knees, cant go outside or pollution will kill me, and stading in the sun is out of the question. Eating anything that is not grown in the soil that I created is deadly, staring at the tv will ruin my eyes, listening to the radio will hurt my ears, using my computer will cripple my hands(ouch, btw). Anyone got a tinted earth-friendly plastic bubble for sale?

The bearing in the distributor has been known to wear, causing the driveshaft to "wobble" in the housing. This causes the housing to wear and "shavings" float around the distributor. These shavings can get into everything, including the optical ring for the cam position sensor. This can cause hard and no starts. Basicly, the ECM does not know where the engine is as far as timing. This actually happened to my Pathfinder. I found it while trying to diagnois another problem. I replaced the distributor as a whole, and everything has been fine. Any play in the distributor is bad. Sounds like you have a ignition or fuel problem. What color is the spark? If its yellow to orange, you have weak spark. It should be blue to almost white. You may have another problem in the injectors. I have replaced many because the injectors fail mechanically. This will not throw a malfunction code. If you have access to a FSM, disconnect one injector at a time and see if it will run. IIRC, they both should operate when starting, the it will cut to one. The other injector kicks in under load. See if any codes are present and post them up.

05 Pf Timing Belt Maintenance Interval
5523Pathfinder replied to headpeace's topic in 2005-2012 R51 Pathfinders
There is no maintenence schedule for chains. There is a TSB for noise from the chain, if you have a issue. I believe its NTB09-128. Oil changes are also very important as the tensioners are based off of oil pressure. Lack of oil changes will plug up the tensioners and they wont operate properly, possilby causing some serious issues. -
Coolant Problem. Head Gasket? Wd21
5523Pathfinder replied to porsche4786's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
How did your plugs look? If you are burning coolant, some traces should be present on the plugs. I would lean toward maybe a leak from a intake gasket or the bypass hose behind the timing covers. I would pressurize your cooling system and watch how long it takes to loose pressure and start looking for leaks. A good flashlight and a small mirror will help in the hard to see areas. Also, look underneath or any traces of green or white line down the sides or back of the engine. -
How is the tension on the belts? You may need to adjust them as they do tend to wear and stretch. How may miles have you put on them? Are you using quality belts? Some brands make more noise than others. Did you put them on or take it somewhere? If you took it somewhere, find out what kind of warranty they offer on thier work and parts. You mihgt be entitled to a free repair. Derek

I Wanna Shoot Ups In The Teeth Right Now!

Talk to your apartment manager about your situation. If nyou cant get wheels on it, get a floor jack and a couple of buddies to help push it to another spot. -
Hey, if you feel up to driving down from Everett, I could show you around the Infiniti dealer and show you what you are in for!

Make sure your battery connections are clean and tight. You may also want to check the ecm grounds on the intake. Loosen and retighten them.

Im sure some would be interested. I think the only bolt on cat-back system is made by Gibson. Not sure how much, but I think somewhere in the $350-$500 range. Being our cats get quite hot(some burn up the floors) a high flow cat with tuned pipes and muffler would be a good idea. As Im sure ou know, Its all about cost. Some guys have had either a Flowmaster installed with lightly larger pipe, some withe stock size. I think we all know that the exhaust system could use some help. And as far as breathing goes, maybe a new intake design or snorkel for both stock and with body lifts.

We didnt see the dragster too often. In 95-96, it was on tour to some of the other campuses. We did have several NHRA teams stop buy during the Southwest Nationals(?) at Firebird Raceway. It did seem like there was always someone differnt stoping in and showing off. I would like to go see the new campus, now that its not in Phoenix anymore. Its supposed to be pretty nice.
