  4. before the tranny went out in my 88, I had to put it in 4 lo while in park...the lever wouldnt go to 4lo in Neutral
  5. if it's doing the same thing w/ 2 different sets of wheels and tires, I would think you had a warped axle....if you have a floor jack, jack up the truck on the differential and have someone sitting in it to start it and put it in gear w/ both tires off the ground...stand behind it and have them give it gas and watch the rear tires....if a axle is warped, 1 will bounce up and down....
  6. if you have another car to use, you can take it apart and take the axle to a machine shop and have them press the bearings for you then put it back together yourself. that would be alot cheaper than letting a shop do all of it
  7. if it's a axle seal leaking and it goes all of the way out, you will have to replace shoes and probably drum....after gear oil gets on shoes, they wont work right
  8. oh ok...I know all 3 of my fords have had fuel pump problems and 2 was doing the same thing...the parts store said it was a bad ballast resistor...have no idea what it is, but changed the pump and havent had any problems.....

  10. it's probably the ballast resistor in the fuel pump....I have had 2 different cars do the same thing. a 89 thunderbird that mainly stalled from a take off or going uphill and a 87 Crown vic police car that I just changed the fuel pump in a month ago. it would miss out and hesistate and spit and cough, that lasted about a year...Thanksgiving day of this year I was going up one of our many mountains and could barely do 35 flat on the floor...changed the fuel pump the next day and it hasnt miss out yet...I believe it's the fuel pump from the way your describing it

I used to work for federal mogul which makes the MOOG parts, they told you right, they have a lifetime warranty on them....if you have a Advance auto parts nearby, they carry moog and you can usually get parts made up w/o a reciept or anything....what I normally do is take them the part and give my phone # and let them look, then act surprised when they cant find it in your history....all moog parts has their name on the rubber boot, so you can use that to prove its a moog part and get it replaced
  12. if you mean the one for the harmonic balancer, I just put a 1/2 drive socket and breaker bar on it and position the bar so it dont turn and bump the starter...just make sure you have the breaker bar against something that wont give and it going the right direction
  13. another thing that will cause tires to wear uneven is tire pressure...too much will wear out the center, not enough will wear out the edges
  14. changing the tip will do a little on changing the exhust....I had a 4 cylinder truck with dual pipes from the muffler back ran in 2.25" w/ 1 7/8's pencil tips..it was loud as hell...my brother ran the same type muffler and size pipe with the same size motor in his 4 cylinder mustang, but he put 4" x 24" tips on it and sounded good....
  15. the red stuff will work good also.....the permatex stuff I was talking about is more like super glue for gaskets....short of an act of congress, it's hard to remove..lol...the rtv silicone is alot better...it can be blue or red...the only difference is the red is for higher temps
  16. it probably had permatex on it is why it's so hard to get off....to make it easier to remove, I use copper spray gasket and then put the gasket on top of that and then I give it another coat before I put the pan back up...I use it on rubber and cork gaskets.....
  17. another thing that works is kerosene or as a last resort gas....just be sure to really clean the pan afterwards....
  18. the studs on all pathfinders are the same...the front is a M12 1.25 thread w/ a knurl diameter of 13.00mm and a length of 32mm the rear is a M12 1.25 thread w/ a knurl diameter of 12.83 and a length of 41.5mm. it didnt show any difference from 2wd or 4wd or years up to 2006....
  19. I have a 2 1/2 y/o black lab, german shepard and doberman mix....she's starting to get very protective, especially of my daughter. my wife had 2 cats, but they are gone now. I dont really care for cats and they was in the house...cats are only good for one thing...target practise..lol
  20. I wished I could find one for a couple of hundred...the cheapest jy tranny I could find around here was 700.00 w/o a warranty
  21. I had the same problem with my 89 mazda b2200, I had replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and pilot bushing...I had to take the clutch kit back out and return it for another b/c the throwout bearing was bad....after I replaced it, it didnt make any more noise
  22. as long as your careful and dont over load your hitch and have your load as equal as possible, it should pull just fine....I have pulled many trailers with many different trucks....I have a 1986 mustang that I have pulled with my 4 cylinder ranger w/ a 5 speed up to pulling over 15,000 pounds with my 72 F-100 with a auto. as long as you know what your skill is and your trucks capability, and dont go beyond that, you should be ok.
  23. thats about the same price I was told to take mine out and rebuild it and put it back in....Advance Auto parts has a rebuilt tranny w/ a pretty good warranty, but I think it was between 2500 and 3000.00 and then you would have to replace it yourself or take everything to a shop....I bought a whole pathy with a recently rebuilt tranny for 400.00 b/c it has a bad motor....that might be another option for you, trying to find a whole car, you can usually buy the whole thing cheaper than just parts and then part the rest of it out.....
