i used electric/contact cleaner type stuff on my ford's IAC. i just doused is a few times and then let it completely dry out. seemed to work for me.

i've always thought your truck looks nice. clean and mean. the black on black is nice, but i'm not a fan of the wheels (not a chrome buff myself). i personally like the extra dark tint, i'd do that myself but i'm afraid of getting fix-it tickets so i go with a weaker tint up front on my vehicles. can they simply search your vehicle w/out cause (other than 'suspicious lookingness')?

i'm not sure what all the reliability qualms are about the VQ. i did a mess of research before i got my 01 and the only comparable vehicle i found to be more reliable (survey-wise) was the 4runner, but hey, only a toyota's gonna be as reliable as a toyota.

i've ran both, i *think* i can maybe feel a bit more ooomph with the good stuff, but i don't think it'll hurt anything to run the cheap stuff.

welcome to cali! not sure how drivers are around the rest of the country, but there are A LOT of morons out here, couple that with the huge load of a$$hole drivers (ie those who speed up when you turn the signal on and the like) and you've got a lot of bad pilots on the roads out here. but other than that cali's great. al

wouldn't the 'feel' of the horses also have a lot to do with the gearing. perhaps it's just that the gearing is low (or would it be high?).

what year truck do you have? i believe in my 01 the ashtray light is always on. don't know about the glovebox since my light is burnt out and have no clue where to find a replacement.

hmmm...did you read my original post? i wasn't pissin' or fittin.' i just like a little pedal action off a light with other willing competitors, i honestly could care less whether i win or lose (i usually do the latter). my only question was about why this guy got so angry.

yeah, i suppose. i just don't get where all the anger comes from.

so my question is - why? and would this make you angry? ...driving home from work an old clunky chevy pulls up next to me and guns it on the light, so i push the petal on my little 3.5 and beat him pretty easily but i slow down at 60 cuz these are side streets. the dude speeds past me and waves. next light, i get behind him because my lane is taken, and this time he burns rubber (old clunker pulling hard right), i follow, change lanes and pass him again, but there's a car in my lane so i pull up (and don't cut him off) and let him pass. next light there are a bunch of cars and as i come up to him in a different lane he swerves in front of me waving his arms around, punching his palm and such. now if i had had someone to laugh with i would have, but being by myself i just shrug (and apparently he's watching in his rear view because this really gets him flailing. my turn is about 100ft ahead at this point so i just stay behind him and wave a good-bye as i make my turn (he flashes something out his window up ahead (a sign? the bird? i can't really tell). so...what exactly is this guy so mad about? i love letting the old 3.5 out when there's another willing participant, and most any car with real potential burns me, but certainly doesn't get me angry. i just think a little race is fun. am i missing something, or is this freak just a social reject.
