  1. if jdud's exchange is right and my calculator is right that would be aprox 2.75/gal, so I guess even if we Canuck have funny money it would still be more expensive for you American to cross the border.......eh!
  2. Well the Canadian East cost is now up to $1 a liter, that's $3.80 a gallon. Time to start car pooling when we go wheeling ..........ok, maybe not

    Brights problem

There is a module for the driving lights sorta behind the battery on the right hand side. I'm not sure if this would affect your brights. It did however affect my driving daytime driving lights. I took it apart and found a cold solder inside, resoldered and presto worked like a charm.

    Brights problem

I agree with sw, I think someone even had pictures of the switch fix in a previous post.

    no start for my 89

Pathys are pretty tempermental on grounding issues. Check all your main grounds, I know it can be a pain to find but it sounds like a bad ground to me. Did you notice your alternator light on the last time you used it? If your alternator went bad and your battery is bellow 10 volts it will also give you freaky problems. Hope this helps.
  6. I've never seen the 96 and up settup, but on the 86-95 , there's a plastic locking ring to hold the bulb in. If you twist counter clock wise it should come off. Hope this helps. Denis
  7. Yeah, I must agree. Specially if you're going to be hauling in the summer time. You can never be to cautious when it come to tranny temperature. Denis
  8. Sorry, my bad. That's even better
  9. Hey Pathmodifier, I think you forgot something on your Jerrycan holder. At the price of gas nowadays I think you should add a lock on there Serriously though, nice job! :cool2: Denis
  10. There's nthing funny about the exchange rates! But I guess you've got a point it makes a difference when you factor in the money exchange.
  11. Our cheap stuff hit as high as 90cent/liter hear in eastern Canada this week. At 3.8 liters per gallon it works out to $3.42/ gallon. Guess it's still much cheaper south of the border.
  12. Most 4x4 need to be in neutral and at a complete stop before you go from 4x4 Hi to 4x4 Lo due to the drastic difference in gear ratio (some standards you might get away with, not sure about Pathfinders). Also if your going from two wheel drive to 4 wheel drive, and you have auto locking hubs your speeds for shifting are fairly low (25mph, I think). If you have manual hubs and they're locked you might be able to go higher although probably not recomended. I've got a 90' myself and with the hubs locked I've switched it in 4x4 high at speeds of 60 mph :o without problems. Again I'm not recomending this, I'm just saying. Hope this helps. Have fun. Denis

    Dash Lights

Yeah, I've been working on pinball machines for 15 or so years and these pinballs were 20 years old when I started working on them. Some of them used "wdge " bulbs back then. I think the wedge part is the shape of the bottom were it fits in the socket.
  14. I'm sure this is probably not it, but since I don't know how competent your mechanic is, I'm going to put my neck out on the chopping block and ask if the cable was adjusted on the shifter. Sometimes the more bvious problems are the hardest to find.

    Dash Lights

If you turn counter clockwise those plastic clips should come off. It's odd that your lighting should appear so low, because I even painted mine with green nail polish to get a greenish tint to my clusters. My cluster is not as bright but it's still bright enough to see fine. Also that bluish tint will peel of those bulbs, almost like a mini condom. He,he. and the bulb can also be pulled out of the black plastic holder. I beleive the bulbb it'self is a #73 wedge bulb. 95% sure anyways.
  16. Sometimes if you use leak seal products it will give your coolant a look similar to having oil in your coolant.
  17. Sounds like a trany shudder. I've heard that clutch materials in your oil can cause this. If your tranny was completely taken apart you shouldn't have to flush it, but if not you could try a trany flush. There might have been some clutch materials left in the little oil that was left in the trany. A bad torque could also do this. Bring it to a trany shop, they should be able to road test it and give you more answers.
  18. I'm with 88pathoffroad. Next time it does this try different things, stop and try reverse, shift through the gears manually, 1st, 2nd, drive, overdrive. If nothing else seems to kick it back in other than shutting the ignition off and on again, I would susspect the computer.
  19. I had the same thing happen after a 4wheeling trip once. The problem was that my alternator got full of muddied water. I pressure washed it and let it dry, the next day it worked like a charm. Although you might not have gone wheeeling you might have a bad alternator, alternator ground, loose belt. Check your voltage at your battery with the vehicle running and with it not running. Your voltage should be higher with your vehicle running. If not your alternator is not charging right. Also you said you had 12.8 volts, if that's with the rig running it still seems a little low. you should be getting close to 14 volts with the motor running. Although you shouldn't see freaky guauge response till the voltage drops bellow 10 volts, it's still possible that due to an alternator not charging right it could give you problems. good luck and let us know how you make out. Denis
  20. If you have metalic pads, your brakes might squeal more than cheaper non metalic pads. They have a lub that you can put on the back side of your pads (between metal baking of the pads and the caliper cylinder) this will eliminate some squealing. Also some times if you replace your shims it might work. hope this helps.
  21. Pretty simple. It's located on the passenger's side. Has two clamps on each end that will have to come off. Make sure you reinstall it in the right direction. just look at your old one when you take it off, there's a rounded end and a flat end on the filter to distinguish this. Also your new filter should have an arrow to show direction of flow. Your arrow should point towards the front of your vehicle. When removing the gas line off of your old filter, make sure your ignition is turned off, if not your fuel pump will keep shooting gas out. Also remember that your old filter will have aproximately a cup of gas in it so when you do take that fuel line out you might want to have some sort of container to catch this gas so you don't get gas on your garage floor or driveway. You are now ready to reverse the process, make sure you yighten the clamps, turn on your ignition to activate your fuel pump, check to make sure you don't have any leaks, Go wheeling. Good luck, have fun, Denis
  22. Wow.......I like it, specially it's the same color as mine. Only a short drive to NB isn't it. Think you could do mine? . When I find the money to buy a new Pathy. That's what I'm doing with mine.
  23. In the deffence of your friends up North, Eh is not a swear word...........Eh! Oh and by the good point! Denis
  24. I think 88pathoffroad has a point, things shouldn't be black or white, but there are also more tame ways to use caracters so that people will understand which cuss words you mean to use without actually using them. Some venting is good when it's directed towards a dealership, mechanic, manufacturer etc, but I don't think member bashing should be accepted. So far we haven't seen to many heated disscussions and the ones we've seen have been deleted. I think that's good. I find some of the other sites I've been on have somewhat extreme emoticons which are used a little to much (finger ones for instance) and pictures that are offensive to some. Sorry if I sound old but after all if I decide to get on the forum I don't want to wait till my 3 and 7 year old are in bed to do so. I think we can still afford to loosen up the site a little but I would still keep some good guidelines. Hats off to Jim and the moderating crew, I think you guys are doing an awsome job. just my thoughts, Denis
