yes NAPS ( Nissan Anti Pollution System ) had 2 plugs per cylinder. if you are running a carb and plan on staying with a carb, get a distributor from a L16 through L20 engine ( mid '70's ) and eliminate the second plug. check on the other Nissan forums and i bet you could find one really cheap. if you were motivated enough you could figure out a way to run a splitter on the spark plug wires and have dual simultaneously firing spark plugs. i don't know if it would be worth the trouble or not but it would definitely be cool. p.s. i have a good used z24i dizzy if anybody wants to buy one... and a couple of vg30 dizzy's too

Help finding a rare model
bitemedoughboy.com replied to GrimGreg's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
you would probably have to go somewhere outside the usa to find one, maybe canada or south america, iv seen the Terano in the "van" version. i think it was a deisel one in australia. but i could be full of @!*% too -
yeah i've heard of it... lol, i was just pickin on you because the pathy's are all electro do whacky thingymabobs....

Vaccum advance? what planet are you on?

im having a similar problem but mine just pukes and misses when you accelerate, but if the sensor in the dizzy was going out you would get a code for crank angle sensor or ignition signal....

yeah their in the right order..... kinda hard to mess that up the cap is numbered... lol -
ok, my '87 vg30i pathy is doing something funky. it runs ok but if you try to accelerate too quickly it stumbles and misses bad, and it puke raw gas out the exhaust. the strange thing is i get no codes from the ecu ive replaced the o2 sensor, it has new plug wires, the cap and rotor are good, i checked the trigger wheel for any crud, the injectors are both @ 1.3 ohms, cleaned the AFM and cleaned the connection, checked the TPS, tried 3 different coils, fuel pressure is good, spark plugs are clean. i dont know what else it could be unless the ignition module on the coil is bad, or maybe the plugs are just crappy but they only have been in there a few months. somebody help me!!!! im getting about 8 miles to the gallon, and i cant afford it. i dont want to spend too much money on the ecu/fuel system because im swapping in multiport injection and ecu from a 300zx (with 200sx plenum) as soon as i get my 280Z on the road.

dont get me wrong it was a good motor, i had 260k miles on mine before i blew a head gasket and fried the whole thing, but as far as nissan 4cylinders go, its not that great.. but i did find out that the ka24 has the same bottom end as the z24, so if you wanted you should be able to swap in a ka24 head and intake.... should pick you up a few ponies out the box...

yes my first wd21 was a z24i, and far as Nissan engines go the z series engine was a piece of @!*%.... if you put an L series head on that block which is basically an L series block with about 5/8" taller deck height you have a sweet little engine... get a book about Nissan OHC engines and read it.... and you'll know what i'm talking about..... the ports are too low in the z head casting to get any good flow out of them, and the naps-z engine or z24, was a feeble attempt by Nissan to make a low emissions engine. ever wonder why nissan isnt using that engine anymore and switched to the ka24 ??? prolly cuz the naps-z was a boat anchor.... but thats just my opinion.... but i like my vg30i (soon to be an E) alot more torque and power and about the same gas mileage....

Manual transmission TSB
bitemedoughboy.com replied to madkiwi's topic in Technical Service Bulletins & Recall Information
why are you guys removing the shifter to fill the tranny??? its alot easier to remove the 4 bolts holding the shifter plate on... and you can pour it in as fast as it will come out of the bottle... -
why not get a ka24det motor and ecu from a used jap engine place or ebay.... but if your going to all the trouble of putting on a turboe and re-mapping the ecu to handle the changes, you might as well just swap in a 90 or newer vg30e and ecu.... alot less work than trying to turbo a pos z24.... and alot cheaper, i just picked up a low mile vg30i with trans and xfer for 300 bucks...

in case you don't read the announcements: December 12 2007, 3:44:25 pm There's a few errors popping up on trail runs right now. Also trails just got real impossible. Thats part of the failed update and I hope to have it all nailed back together tonight. Turned into a real pain in the rear. But at least the new server is cruising nice. Thanks. - Sandman so if you dont want to spend all your time in the shop, i would suggest waiting till they get the bug ifxed before attempting any trails....

um... what about spare hoses..... i carry fuel and water hoses, oh and trusty bailing wire or tie wire.... had a hose break 60 miles from the nearest parts store... luckily i wasnt alone... ended up burning up the motor... but thats another story for a different thread.....
-
the bfg a/t's are good the first season you run them but if it gets icy in the winter were you are plan on getting new tires for the winter. after they loose more than 30% of the tread they're crappy on compact snow and ice.... i found out the hard way.... got part way up a hill in the mountains and lost momentum, then slide backwards down the hill..... had to stuff it into a dirt bank to get enough grip to stop. but thats just my 2 cents worth....

i'm definitely interested, let me look into freight cost. can you strap it to a pallet. and do you have a way of loading it into a truck? freight cost a lot more if they have to have a lift gate to pick it up.... -
