  1. 1990 SE 197,000km I've got some bada$$ speed wobble goin on.... I haven't had the time to get the front end checked out yet, my insurance ran out, waiting to sell my bike to get money for it. So I'm gonna use the time to throw in a BL or the JGC swap and UCAs. The speed wobble is pretty dang wierd, but if I turn it to the "sport" suspension, it goes away... Drivers side front window sticks going up. Rust on the rockerpanel, right at the front of the drivers door, corner, spot, thing... it goes all the way thru. Clifford security system is hooped. Doesn't allow me to start the vehicle. (thought it was the starter at one point which forced me to replace it with a new one)... After installation, it still wouldn't start... Figured out all I had to do was pull the fuse for the alarm and it would start. Stupid immobilizer thing. Seems like my power steering is starting to go... doesn't like turning when it's not moving. Fixed problems: Broken manifold stud removed and replaced New clutch, after throwout bearing decided to give up on me Gah, the joys of having no job- no money- no way to fix the problems Wahhhhh Although, I am fortunate that they aren't too major... anymore, the clutch was bad..
  2. Okay so, on the highway I'll hit a little dip in the pavement and my truck will begin to sway to both sides, back and forth REALLY bad, I have to tap the brake to stop it, or else it feels like I'm gonna roll.... I'm pretty sure the sway starts in the rear. It also shakes when goin down the highway, I've been told this is most likely because my wheels could be off balanced? Or maybe I have mud on the inside of my rims, throwing them off balance? It's really starting to make me mad, and it's not too safe either. I want to get it fixed A.S.A.P, but I don't want a shop to mess with it, for I have little money. So, what I want to know is: Could this "sway" be because I have no rear sway bar? If so, where is the rear sway bar located? I don't even know if I have one...
  3. I know, I don't even like using cruise control.. it's just... kinda odd, doesn't feel like you're in control of the vehicle.
  4. Dang, $20 to fill a 20lb tank! My 20 oz. C02 tank for my paintball gun is $5 to fill.... Fill up my tank 16 times to get the equivilant and it will cost $96 Unless I did some stupid calculation error... which wouldn't suprise me Paintball shops are a ripoff! I've just got an ACDelco 260psi compressor in my Pathy
  5. Thank ya. I'm not too pissed, heh but it is kinda unfortunate. I was obviously going too fast, but I didn't think 40k was too fast... since a snow plow had just gone by, and it looked as though he put out gravel behind him... Guess not. Oh well there are about 10 scratches that aren't too major, a few gouges in the pass tail light, and some notches in the fender flare. Minor stuff though, just glad I didn't roll... heh.. I moved as close to my window as I could so I didn't roll.... hahaha I highly doubt it woulda made a difference, but yeah..
  6. Another shot... hill doesn't look as steep in the picture
  7. So I slept in this morning, sweet! Didn't have to go to the first block at school. My mom asked me if I wanted to drive to school, I said not really... she said I should So, I did... jumped in my Pathy started er up to warm up. Get out and a snow plow goes up the road (it's a dirt road.. 30 min from the closest town). There was 5" of fresh snow on the ground. So, after a quick breakfast I jump in my Pathy and head down the road in 4wd. I was going pretty slow, probably 40km/h tops. I come around a slight uphill left corner, and right as I crest, I start sliding to the outside of the corner... Couldn't turn, I kinda freaked out and hit the brakes.... I went off the little bank and into a barbed wire fence... If I woulda been going a tiny bit faster (if I didn't hit my brakes 20 feet before I went off) My pathy woulda been scratched up way worse on the passenger side. Not wanting to go home and get our F-350 and my mom, to pull me out, I tried to get out on my own. Started to crawl forward as the barbed wire scraped my tail light, then, BANG. Smacked my LCA off a big ass rock covered in snow... God damn, so I back up, paralell to the fence about 2" away from it... Back end slides into the fence... 4Low, cranked it to the left and began to crawl, then gave 'er and made it up onto the road. First "accident" if you will, for me... Kinda hurt my shoulder and neck when the truck came to a sudden stop. To add to the Birthday presents... I got a speeding ticket yesterday in my dads F-350... damn thing.. it's so freaking big you dono if you're going over or not (unless of course you're looking at the spedo like you SHOULD be doing) But you know how young drivers are. Well I've learned my lesson AND paid a $196 fine. From now on I'll be watchin that spedo like a hawk... or setting cruise control :o A little touch up paint and I'll be ready to go
  8. SPEAKING OF SEATBELTS! I took my Pathfinder to the local Nissan dealership for a RECALL on the rear seatbelts. My Pathy is a 1990 SE
  9. Yeah I'm also looking for chains I fear that the chains we have on our F350 will hit my fender flares if I throw em on my Pathy... and I don't want that
  10. Oh, and... the line that goes IN for the rear speakers, can that be spliced into the line OUT of the amp (for the rear speakers)? Doesn't seem like there would be an advantage of doing so.. but... I dno why I'm not getting any sound from the rears, they're connected properly, I'm 95% sure... Oh and... there were 4 PINK wires in the back of my factory deck... I tested them for power and there wasn't any, so I just snipped them off and there they are...
  11. And how in the heck to I get back there to tinker with them? Is it possible to take the center of the dash out? It looks like it, but I dono where the bolts and such are...
  12. 1990 Pathfinder SE Okay okay, I know there are other threads about aftermarket stereo installs etc. that say where the factory amps are (Passenger side rear panel) correct? Well I took the panel off and there's nothing in there. Took the drivers side panel off and there's just a bunch of wires, and one funky box thing. The reason I'm wondering is because I installed a JVC deck today and am only getting sound in the front speakers. I read in another thread that the reason for this could be the factory amp that powers the rear, isn't getting power?... I wanted to see if I could take the Line In, cut it off, and splice it to the Line Out, but I guess that's not the case? I would keep searching but my internet is damn slow and it's a chore when a page loads 1/2 way then stops and you have to refresh it.... every.. damn...time.... So, where are my factory amps?
  13. Heh, I can drive without a clutch, but I didn't know how to drive it well enough to drive TO the place to get fixed... I don't know anything about trannys and such, so that's why I didn't do the fix myself. I'm now kicking myself in the arse for not taking Mechanics and metalwork in highschool...
  14. Here's another Pathfinder with a BDS susp lift. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2169203 This guy lives in Chase BC. Doesn't show a pic with JUST the 4" BDS lift, it has a 2" BL too. I talked to him, said it costed around $2700 for a shop to install it and he had it back in 2 days. Damn, that's expensive, makes me wanna try doing my lift this summer, by myself and help from a neighbor.
  15. They put footwell lights in the SE's? Why don't I have any....
  16. See I live on a dirt road, and have been on the road to and from school for 10 years. I usually run like... 90-100km on it... but 80mph on a "baja type road" is nuts :o I'd never do that haha
  17. Really easy for me... I bought a 4Runner for my first vehicle, but a month after I had it the tranny went out, so I got that fixed, but was still faced with multiple problems I'd found, that would total around $1500. Went to the local Subaru/Mercedes dealership here in Kamloops at lunch (at school) and took a look around. What I found was a '90 Pathfinder SE with BRAND NEW BGF AT's for $8800... I thought it was kinda expensive but I really liked it... Got home to find my dad had made a call to the dealership, they said they had a '90 Pathfinder they would let go on a trade for my 4Runner... Next day my dad had picked me up from school, we went to the dealership, and there it was, sitting out front for us... Did the paperwork and it was mine. DAMN I loved the feel of it on the test drive, not as smooth as the 4Runner, but alot more snap to it (4Runner was auto). Felt like the fuel economy would be alot better as well, which turned out to be true. Yeah, so that's my story... (Performance wise was when...) My dad and I went fishing, and to get to the lake we turned off the main road onto a muddy, narrow road with a switchback to the right, down a steep muddy hill. After fishing, we drove to the bottom of the muddy hill and my dad thought we were gonna be waiting until night, for the ground to freeze. He said "What you want to do is put it in 4Lo, and keep the tires spinning, throwing mud out, while keeping high RPMs"... So, I put it in 4Lo, backed up a lil bit and went for 'er. Second gear comin up the hill, it was perfect, mud was flying thru the air and my dad was holding on. (A steep bank was on his side). Kept feathering the gas and we made it to the top, I knew I couldn't make the corner so I went straight, onto some tiny, narrow, rutted out muddy road... Now, to turn around ON that road with a steep bank to the right and thick trees to the left... My dad was spotting for me as I put 'er to work. My dad was amazed how the thing performed, brought him back to the old Landcruiser days. Made it out perfectly fine but it was a little sketchy. NO WAY the 4Runner would have done that Wow, long post...
  18. Ahhh.. NOW I know how to use the search function properly, haha thanks
  19. Mhm.. that's why I just make a thread instead of searching for it, because my internet is the worst out of anyone on this forum- so g-dern slow. I'll try to refrain from making thread dupes...
  20. Haha, after I posted that I read that other thread..
  21. Yup, that's what happened to mine right after I got it... mechanic said I could drive it, nothing would happen, but to get it fixed in the next week or so... Drove it a couple more times, went to go to my buddies place, started it up and it wouldn't go into reverse... I could only shift when the truck was off... so instead of limping it to the shop, (shift into 1st, start, accelerate, shut off, second, start, accellerate, shut off, third, start, accellerate etc... hahaha) I had to get it towed 100km to get fixed... And it costed $1100...
  22. Nice, jj. I like em... perhaps I'll look into one
  23. Yokoso! Ogenki desu ka? Watashi wa 1990 Pathfinder SE o (....doraibushimasu...) HAHAHA Man, I'm terrible at Nihongo now, third year in higschool and I can barely speak it...
  24. So, now that the 25th has come and gone... (almost) I will ask if anyone recieved any cool gadgets. I'll start by saying I got some pretty cool stuff... I guess that happens when you're in your teens, with a vehicle you obsess about. ACDelco Portable Power Center with Inverter (Freakin cool! 260PSI air compressor! Sweeet! Now I can air my tires down out in the bush) http://www.midwayautosupply.com/detailedpr...ption.asp?14391 68 piece car survival kit (Parents want their kids to be safe) Vent mounted cup holder (Minus one project for this winter ) Inside/Outside thermometer/clock Sunvisor CD case So yeah, anyone else get cool little gadgets for their Pathy?
