  1. Am I correct the xterra has rear leaf springs instead of a 5 link?
  2. I'll buy your frame Kidding. What will likely happens is I'll fix the bodies rust and then my GF will drive it till it dies. I'll kep strengthening the frame till I can't anymore She'll buy soemthing else and then I can take the body off and find a replacement frame (when she no longer needs it.) I love mine. But At some point I have to give up.
  3. I think I've put my last repair in the pathfinder this weekend. New idler pulley and new rear sway bar links. I think this will be my last fix before I let this old beast die. I've fixed so many things it runs and drives like new. But I can no longer keep up with the frame cancer And finding a frame with no rust around here is next to impossible. I just fixed the Frame sides but now the top of the frame is gone. Also rusty lower quarters ahve caused all kinds of electrical issues (water where all the wriing/relays are = bad!!!) I just don't want to let it die I love the damn thing. Now on to the Xterra question. Someone told me the frame is the same as our generation pathfinder, is this true? Could I transplant my pathy's body onto an xeterra frame? I should probably just buy and Xterra though
  4. I totally misread ignore all my posts You want one that goes in and Out and hides in the center fo thdash my mistake!!!

  7. Third picture found here unfortunately that is a cached thumbnail from and auction and I can't open the actual picture http://images.google.com/images?ie=UTF-8&q...m=1&sa=N&tab=wi
  8. Mine has the cup holder in place of the ashtray. came from the factory but it was not a factory piece an old gentlemen in california made them and nissan liked it so much they started carrying them They show up on ebay once in a while I'll take pictures of it for you to rub it in a little and make you want one more.
  9. The hubs disengage when you put it in 2wd and drive backwards 10ft or so. Did you drive backwards after taking of the 4wd?
  10. Blue Magic Metal polish! Best product on the market for aluminum rims, it will also do wonders on chrome
  11. The auto hubs only disengage when you drive in reverse in 2x4. they will never disengage when going forward. So you might be in 2x4 but your front hubs are still locked.
  12. 87-92 august - buld date small taper 92 september +-95 Big tapper. They cahnge mid build year in 92.
  13. If you are in the winter belt check for ice instead of mud even a little can unbalance your tire really bad.
  14. Thanks! It started 10 minutes ago it's only -13 now (9 fahrenheit) Go fast weather changes -49 yesterday -13 today. Too bad we broke down and had it towed home I'm installing a magnetic pan heater tonight someone is lending me one. We'll see if it helps. We get a wide range of temps from -40 to +40 in summer I guess that's why ford tests a lot of new car models here.
  15. Yeah -43 celsius -50 with the wind I'll let you convert that to Fahrenheit I've seen -50 without the wind before when I was younger. My 1980 new yorker starts no problem not plugged in (although I never do that to her on purpose) I thought about putting a magnetic heater on the starter but I'm worried it will damage the electrical components in it.
  16. it's -49 farenheit outside (not counting the wind) you can grab a 150 W halogen bulb and it will never get hot enought to burn you a Small fire might do it. I was planning on putting boards around the truck to seal it and then run a 1500W space heater under it. I don't own a garage. It has two block heaters and an oil pan heater this is affecting the starter specificly once started the truck runs as if it was already at operating temp. But the starter keeps freezing. I'm not sure how moisture is getting inside but I'm sure it has to do with the proximity of the header
  17. Well I couldn't find my old post. The pathfinder is at it again. -30, -40 celcius and the starter is frozen. Man is it ever difficult to swing a hammer at it to get it going. Anyone else have problems with there starter freezing when it gets cold? I hear the starter relay click and I can feel it click, I here the solenoid click but the motor draws no current or is stuck. This is a brand new starter to boot. Anyone have home remedies for this? The truck is stuck in a parkage and can't be towed out. I had the heat gun blaring on it for 1 hour, did the cycle power on and off for 10 second thing, hit it with a sfh and a bfh no go. I thought the heat gun would do the trick but it's so cold if I hold the gun there 20 minutes then touch the starter with my hand it's still cold
  18. I'm looking at the rear of your pathfinder in those pictures. The ladder bar anchor anchors the ladder bars to the frame I looked at your picture again and see your anchors is still there and well attached so never mind there are no upper control arms on the rear of your pathfinder. It would been better to have pictures with the tire off in the third picture I can see your anchor and it looks ok But yeah just make a frame cap
  19. That;s exactly it a three sided piece that will cap the exisiting frame. Make it out of plate or heavy guage sheet metal. cap the frame rail. If the rus is so bad that the ladder bar attachement point is rusted as well you'll need to cut it and weld it back in place to the new structure you're adding. Right now it looks like you can cap up to it, You weld your cap all the way around not just at the bottom I'l snap some pictures of a crappy cap I made last weekend It passes safety in manitoba so I'm sure it would pass in ontario our safety is stricter then yours. I capped my GF's pathies frame as well I'll snap some pictures althoguh you won't see much since it's rubber coated now.
  20. I can't find the post could you help out with a link? there is no specific topic on it is it in another post? I ran a search for transmission and none of the posts were relevant. If you have the link pelase share. thank-You.
  21. Just make a frame cap and cap the rusted area. Just make sure to extand as far as you can beyond the rusted area. You frame has been fixed before correct? Or what is that plate welded to the frame. I'll take that sway bar link I still need one.
  22. The good thing about pathfinders is they all have common problems. I have all the common problems of a pathfinder but I knew to expect them and I know how to fix most of them. Theres comfort in knowing that when something goes wrong you know what to do right away. This site is a godsend.
