If you were in america I'd say that price is a tad high -- not sure of the market down there though.

I've got some advice, theres a key on your keyboard called caps lock, press it please On to the truck: 159K isn't a LOT on these trucks, particularly if they've been taken care of. You can expect roughly 15mpg from it, give or take 2mpg. You might check for rust -- under the rear seats is good place to look. I'm sure someone else can give you a better idea of what to check.... How much do they want for it?

OMG -- That thing is awesome -- I'd love to be able to shove a Cummins 4B (or even a 4BT) into my pathy.

All the steering components are going to be swapped out as soon as I can come up with the $$ for a complete L&P setup. I'm not to worried just yet though, the trucks not a daily driver, so it doesn't see much use, even less in 4WD.

A lot of you probably saw the disaster that was my CV axle thread in the garage. (Found here) I said I'd report back so here I am I took the pathy & the g/f up the mountain yesterday, and am proud to say theres no more insane steering wobble in 4HI with the new axle. Granted my steering is still sloppy, due to my worn steering components, but its not uncontrollably out of whack like it was.

Well there are people around here that have copies -- there might even be an electronic version floating around -- I'd look into that before spending the extra $$. Not that its a bad investment, but if your strapped for cash I wouldn't go for it right off.

I just checked autozone online (don't have a pep boys or advanced near me) and they want pretty close to Napa -- $29.99 for the upper and $42.99 for the lower. Those little bastids are expensive! Thats upwards of $150 depending on the sales tax in your area. Course you don't have to have them shipped and you get a lifetime warranty, but still! Guess I'll have to take a closer look @ mine to see if it REALLY needs done or not. Probably does

Wow, this got a tad outta hand eh? Not much like this place at all. I'll report back for sure -- I just picked up the re-man'd axle & boot kits (for the DS) today, will hopefully get it all put back together this weekend. LOL -- Just goes to show I should check NPORA before running down to NAPA. Is there anyway to check this with auto hubs? I haven't upgraded to manuals yet. As I said, I'll report back with the findings once I get this fixed. I'm guessing it will be better, as MWS seems to have described what I experienced fairly well. I'm not saying my steering isn't worn -- but I'm fairly certain this axel wasn't helping anything at all.

BJ's are that cheap? (no pun intended ) -- not to thread jack, but how hard are they to replace? Seeing how I've got my front end already ripped apart anyway.

Pardon me for not being more specific -- the 18 miles encompasses some 200 odd corners -- some of them gradual currves, some of them sharp switchbacks. Heres a sample about a mile or two before the ski resort -- elevation is roughly 5500 feet. Props to google maps for the image.

Well for the record the axel was making noise and it wasn't an entirely straight line -- bogus basin road is NOT a straight road. Some 200 odd curves in an 18mile stretch.

Yeah, It sucks that your getting rid of the pathy! But then again Rangers aren't TERRIBLE persay, just not anyones first choice. Lovebunny made the same switch and he hasn't been complaining -- and my buddy with a 93 ranger has no complaints. To bad the fronteir isn't offered in right-hand drive for ya though -- probably would have been the better buy in the long run.

Don't you remember the WD21's don't have headlight relays? I'd check for a fuse or shorted wire though -- I know the HB's didn't work in my 87 when I did the rewire -- it ended up being a blown fuse to the PS headlight.

Yeah the joint still flexes a reasonable amount, but it sounds like a rock tumbler when doing so. Theres so much dirt in the joint, and not a lot of grease. There is some play in the joint, and it does kinda "pop" -- especially compared to the diff-side joint, which was reasonably smooth & quiet. I'm just going to throw a new one on though, just so I can feel a confident about that side again. How do you rebuild these things though? The DS boots are starting to crack, and I might as well replace those while this is all on my mind. Thanks for the help guys

It is FUBARED for sure -- You can hear grinding noises when moving the lower part of the joint. I went ahead and cut off the remaining part of the boot just to get a better pic of it. Never mind the grass -- the driveway I'm doing this in leads up to my back yard. I'll post up when I get a new axel installed to see if this fixed the outrageous steering wobble problem.
