ok 1. stock 89 does more than i ever thought it would when i bought it. 31 tires and independent suspension and manual transmission.... i love it. it performs great on what i have available to wheel on down here. 2. never driven it offroad but learned to drive in a stock r50 and absolutely loved it to death, if my aunt will sell it to me im buying it. and wheeling in luxury... i've seem members rigs on here that look absolutely amazing with all kinds of mods. and wasn't there a guy here where some chick hit him and he's been doing a sas on it? 3. i happen to like the looks of the r51, don't know anything about the traction controll though. my parents are thinking about getting one even just because i have my 89 and have said things about the new one. it looks more like it should be competing against explorers and trail blazers not jeeps and such, the fact that nissan even put it up there is interesting. 4. we also have an 03 xterra. great vehicle, love the way it looks i don't know why you guys would have a problem with that. at that point i don't know if they offered lsd or lockers cause ours doesn't have it, the one time i convinced my dad to take itt out with local club, we needed to back up and take another line caue of only 2 wheels spinning but it went without a problem, surprised all the jeep owners there. 5. nissan does have offroad packages in the states... pro 4x and offroad. x, frontier and titans that come with skids lockers different shocks and tires... 6. im with everybody else here who wishes there was a us patrol.... i've gone to the dealer in town, and they don't even know what it is, i know more than the salesmen about all the trucks and some of the cars that nissan has available, its pretty freaking sad. 7. whats all this about land cruisers? cause guess what got one of them too! 78 fj40, not even 30 inch tires and no lsd's but it will go anywhere we point it....

2-3 feet what the heck?!!! i think you need to change those in the first place then see what happens.

well the back seat of my 89 has 3 lap belts that are really weird. once you are done pulling them to whatever point, and let it go back a little they lock and wont go out any more. is that the problem you're having? pretty much when people sit in the back they don't use them

i met a guy in my town with a few aux lights on his 87 and he said he needed a new alt. something about all the lights being to much for the stock one and he wore it out really fast. he said he got one off a newer nissan minivan lol, so it could be a good idea to get a new one apparently.

Discussion of Front Hubs - Manual vs Automatic
bigred07 replied to DoctorBill's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
i've never had a problem but i don't go to crazy. but i have a question. how do you clean and lube them? i've kinda seen them taken off when i got my cvboots replaced just the other week. -
i don't have the parts number, but for the bushings i got at a local store and another one had bushing with the sleeve so you should be able to get them at a parts store, or my local dealer had them and the rod for not to much, i just had to pay extra for the stupid shiping. the dealer was the only place i found the rod however.
-
thanks. no i don't have the owners manual, no idea who does. so you can change the diff. fluids just like oil just open the top first then drain it and put more in the top hole?
-
so its time for an oil change, but i was wondering about other fluid in the truck as well such as transmision transfer case and differentials. i don't know much about this stuff. i saw on an episode of truck U they emptied the rear diff of a truch and removed the back cover and swept out any little grinded pieces and replaced the fluid and what not. so my question is how often should you replace those fluids and what kind of fluids goes in each part then how you do it. i have an 89 se v6 4x4 that i bought used with 140000 miles now and don't know if any of those fluid changes have ever been done.

i have no idea i didn't do the fix. basically there are long metal "skirt" pieces that go over the rod and basically fit between the rod and the frame, both left and right had been eaten through the right one was fused the rod itself somehow so i had to get a new rod. they welded metal the upper part of the whole and sanded it to size and then put the new parts on, no squeek now. but there is a whole in the main cv boot so i got boots but i guess they require some more labour becaue they are backwards from other cars... ?

i have a white xterra.... doesn't show the scratches. as far as body damages, lots of mesquite trees and cat claw bushes equals a ton of body long scratches which show very well on the dark top half of the pathy.
-
hells yeah, i've never seen one that says that though, where can i get one?
-
i have that is the top blue and the bottom is like a silver/grey. (profile pick). i think i saw one with the same paint, other than that all of them i see in my town are different colors.
-
ha i only have rears. but the wiring is there for the front, someone replaced them before i got it....
-
lol i have a 89 and the timing belt was off and some valves were bent and the beast still ran, just low powerd which is why i took it in....
-
smoking is nasty in my opinion. but i've camped in my truck so in my ash tray is a lighter to light fires outside. the last time i did it one i got used to the dark there was actually a house out there in the middle of nowhere, surprised they call something in on it.
-
go for it man, it would look great. i've seen an old nissan pick up with it in gray and it looked pretty good. when i actually get money i want to get a newer pathfinder anywhere from 93 to 04, and do it in black.
-
well through the city driving i do i get about 18, if i take it on the highway, going 65, 75 just makes the rpms to high for to long in such an old car, i can get 20 or 21 in my '89.
-
well depeding on the plants that brush by your car, the entire outside. down here in arizona's thorny desert, i've scratched up my paint job so bad. somehow broke the fog light too. oops. i've seen a guy that took a 92is nissan pick up and did the outside but with a gray color and it looked great, a pathfinder in black would probably look pretty amazing.
-
another things is the mount seems to have moved or whatever and is really close to the tension rod. i have a picture but don't know how to make it fit into these messages...
-
i don't know about 94's but my 89 is slower than new cars on the road, but i don't push it past 3000 rpm ever to save whatever plus gass milage. but my aunt has a 2003 pathfinder and was the second car i ever tried to drive, and that thing took off like a bat out of hell.
-
yeah mine looks pretty similar but in the opposite/down dirtection, you can see the whole underneath the bushings instead of above. thanks.
-
since i got my 89 there has been this squeeking noise coming from the suspension system of the front drivers side area. recently having people look at to posibly replace the shock we have found something interesting. where the tension rod is mounted to the car, where the rod goes through metal and there are bushings on either side, the whole where the rod passes through the metal mount looks really big, about the size of the bushings, and maybe wearing out. i don't have another one to compare this or anything and iwas wonder if anybody has had a similar problem or can tell me whats going on and how to fix it. one mechanic said posibly welding on another metal plate over it and drilling the right size whole in it. i if anybody can help me out with this it would be very apreciated. i also am not much of a mechanic myself so i will be needing somebody else to do the repairs. thanks.
